Hi

I'm new on this board.
My english can be a little poor, I'm french :)

In France, cannabis is totaly illegal. Even medicinal use, I don't know why ^^
Lots of people grow there personal use in secret gardens, like everyone else in this world, no ?
In the woods or in indoor gardens.

How does it work in USA ?

I see that people can produce, for themselve and few other people, all with medicinal prescription. Am I right ?
Is this perfectly legal ?

I see that there exist shop selling clones, headshop stuff and weed for customers with prescription.
Is it perfectly legal ?
Where does the smokable stuff comes from ?

The guy who produce the stuff (there is one I know that :stoned:), got what kind of protection ?
Does he get money for living expense on this activity ?
Taking care of 100 plants takes time each day ^^ they do this on free time ?
Do they need to sale on non profit base ?

Shops can sell clones, but it's ilegal to grow at home.
What is that ^^ ?

Like in neitherland, they can sell pot in coffeeshop but can't produce the herb. Stupid situation :D

I'm sorry, I really don't know anything about CA situation and all this wave about ganja. I really want to know more.

If there is any opened door for someone like me to settle something.
I need to know ^^

Thank you for regard and hope you will help me to see more clearly, how the situation is.

In most of the US, cannabis is illegal. In 14 states, there are different ways of handling MMJ. I live in California, the most liberal state.

Even in MMJ states, cannabis is not "perfectly legal". Federal law says it is an illegal drug, but USUALLY the federal authorities will not bother with you if you have under 100 plants. Because of cannabis being a "Schedule 1" drug, it is not, and cannot be, "perfectly legal" in the US.

Cannabis is recommended by doctors, not prescribed. In all of California, legal MMJ patients are permitted to grow 6 mature plants, or have 12 immature plants, and 8 ounces of buds. Some counties in California allow you to grow more than 6 mature plants. Other MMJ states have other limits on growing and possessing cannabis.

The rules for being a supplier to dispensaries (where you buy medical cannabis) and being a caretaker, are at best hazy and changing. Not all MMJ states have dispensaries.

Suppliers are often patients growing a bit more than they can use. They "donate" it to the dispensary and are given "compensation" for their time and effort. Technically, the cannabis is not "sold". The California dispensaries are being attacked by city governments and the tolerance toward the dispensaries varies widely. My county just got its first 2 dispensaries in October. Other towns in my county are banning the opening of dispensaries, so our 2 may be the only ones that are allowed here.

The definition of "caretaker" is being rethought by the politicians. It used to be just a generous grower helping out a patient with a supply of cannabis. Now, they want you to act more like a wife or in-home nurse- do shopping, physical care, take the patient to the doctor, etc. Tolerance toward growers also varies from county to county. There is no real protection for multi-patient growers in my county.

The situation in California is far from perfect, but it is better than everywhere else! We have 2 basic types of cannabis doctors- the "whores" and the "True believers". A "whore" doctor will give you a recommendation if you are "warm and breathing" and have the money. A "true believer" needs an actual medical condition to give you a recommendation. Both make a lot of money!

I personally think that cannabis shouldn't even need a doctor's recommendation to get it. It has never caused a fatal OD, has no serious side effects and can be grown for free- unlike many pharmaceutical drugs!
