Bought some of this from a local dispensary. Found 7 seeds inside a 1g nugget. It's killer weed, but I'm a rookie and have no idea if this is a sativa or indica.

Is there a way to tell if this was a herm or if it was a female that just got pollinated? If it was a herm is there an increased chance these seeds will also be herms?

I'm guessing a 50/50 spread, so probably end up with 3 or 4 females and 3 or 4 males. Does it do any good to breed it with itself again? I was wondering if you can increase potency by taking a strong male and pollinate one or two buds on a female plant?

Thanks

not sure of afgooy lineage dont even know the breeder as all of these newer strains have popped up out of nowhere. it certainly is fine to sprout those seeds you may get a hermie or a very nice f2 its hit and miss. and you could try to stabilize it by crossing with another male. heres the deal though for a successful breeding program requires hundreds even thousands of those seeds and backcrossing methods to get one stable strain. as i am no expert in this arena and i am guessing your not either I would just growem and cross you fingers

Thanks for the response.

You guess correctly my friend, I'm no expert.

From what little I can gather through literally hundreds of searches - seams Afgooy is supposed to be an Afghan crossed with a Sativa. I don't know the difference between any of them, except that Indicas make my pain WORSE and Sativas make the pain go away. The Afgooy is VERY POTENT. Some of the best I've had in a couple years. It's a couch-locker though. Don't wanna do nuthin' but watch TV. :stoned:

I figured it would take at least a dozen generations to come up with something stable and predictable. Hundreds and thousands of seeds? -- I will never have that many.

So, I'll follow your advice. I'll just plant them and see what happens.

Newbie question about sexing:
I plan to grow one or two at a time in a small pantry or cabinet. It will have about 3sq ft. floor spcae and be about 70" tall. These plants will each get topped and I'll be using the LST method to encourage more branches.

When I top each plant, can I simply root that top and then immediately sex it? How long after it grows roots can I sex it? Does it need huge roots?

sativas love to stretch so be wary of growth spurts during flowering. i would say one plant could be manipulated to fill that space. yes you can clone a top it takes anywhere from a week to 14 days to sex a plant. all of this will depend on phenotype, like the old saying practice makes perfect. good luck

p.s. roots dont need to be huge clones that come out of cloning chamber will still need a humid environment until the roots adaptt to their new world. a week or two once you add veg time then you can flower and sex.

Afgoo preflowers pretty early, about four weeks after germination.

afgooey is good herb....10-12 week flowering time or even longer depending on individual grow environment...just be prepeared for long flower time

good advice from MED:thumbsup:
