Catpiss or sprayed? good stuff, or pure posion?

this catpiss strain I have heard about and seen around here on the forums, other than the obvious name, does it have any other signs?

I have received a batch from my buddy, but this looks like a fluffy outdoor grow, has seeds, and from very close it smells totally nasty and strong like ammonia/old human/public urinal piss smell (I have never had a cat nor have i ever smelled cat piss, but i assume it could smell just as bad as human piss, but i'm totally in the dark here, a little enlightening will help a lot)

HOWEVER, when u give it a few inches of distance and then smell from top of the bag, the smell actually changes or the way the intensity is reduced makes the smell just like normal & weak weed smell.

it feels and looks rather moist, but its not actually that wet, nor the amount of visible resin on the buds matches the very strong odor from close-by

i want to see if this is sprayed with ammonia or some other shit (now that i think, half way into the baggy from top, it sort of smells like RAID the bugkiller) or is there actually a strain out there that supposedly smells this way as if this is the catpiss smell... any hints will help

my own guess is to play it safe and avoid this stuff as i think it's sprayed with some nasty stuff, however others may know more or have had other experiences

That shit sounds nasty. I wouldn't put my body through that. Maybe try cleaning and germinating a few of the seeds and grow your own! That way you won't have to buy poison reefer.

I'd go back to your "buddy" and have him smoke it first...haha

I would smoke it, and if its nasty then make hash out of it, but amonia is what weed smells like when your drying it sometimes, so, mabey it is wet and needs to dry before mold comes. and yes cat piss smells like amonia. and a few times when I walked into a drying room, I have been over come buy that nasty smell of amonia, but when it dried it was smooth and nice tasting and serious bomb bud. so dont toss it it might be just wet or mabey it is the cat piss strain, which I have smelled alot of differant strains that have that smell, even when dry. it is not pleasant, and if it tastes like it smells then something is wrong. I am not saying to smoke weed that is amonia, but some realy dank weed has a amonia smell to it. I think when chlorophil breaks down one of the things left is amonia vapor, which is why a ventalated room is good. if it is bad, then the tricomes should be good in which case you would make some bubble hash out of it, and the amonia is gone at that point

Sounds like it was grown with lots of chemical fertilizer (ammonium nitrate), then shipped, or stored in some way with much of the stalk intact. Actually probably smothered in some way.
Neutralize the high PH with some vinegar, and make some grease.

keep in mind, marijuana mold is also know to have an ammonia odor, and is quite seriously hazardous to smoke ... make sure that plant was sufficiently dried, prior to storing ... :smokin:

Why the hell do you think he would put ammonia on his weed. Killing off your customers is a bad way to do business. Ive gotten weed before that smelled like shit(yes actual dog shit) . Some strains have very special odors that can sometimes be very strange. The possibility of mold is way more likely thart the idea that the grower laced his shit with ammonia to make all of his friends and customers sick.


It just doesnt make any sense, in any circumstance, to lace your weed with a chemical like that(it doesnt even get you high)
