hey everyone my name is J and i live up north.. we chill up here (ha ha ha)
well the last time i started this i was in a different living environment and i had to hide what i did from lots of people...a.k.a i had a ton of traffic thru my house.
so the name that me and my roommate came up with was d.i.g discrete indoor growing..
now im not so constrained by the traffic.. i dont have guests over anymore so no one to hide from.. and i live out in the sticks so... the set-up is kinda in the open
here is what i got..
one argo sun 600w balanced HPS
five 27w cfls "cool white"
and 31 seedlings a week old
tell me what you think and when i am able i will upload pics for all of you to see what i am saying....
by the way i never grow, smoke or see mary-j
i dont take pictures of pot..i find them on photo upload sites
and i am pulling all of what i say out of my ass... he he he

so heres a update for ya'll..
i lost another of the babes last nite when the temps dropped for a while.. we got no heat here and the temp is like 32 outside. when the lights come on they heat the whole house.. when they go off they kinda get cold.. and no heat.
today we gonna get the tank filled soon so that problem will be gone for the year..
they are all starting on their first set of more than one leaflet.. and are all just over a couple inches tall.
the leaves are all pointing upwards and the temp is 79.4 right now with 32% humidity..
now for the questions if anyone is watching..
whats the earlyiest that i can start the flower?? i was hoping very soon as pot is getting expensive and i know that i have a couple months ahead of me that i gotta watch my girls grow up and untill i get this i wont have much pot for a while..
also how long can i wait for planting into 2 oz dixie cups??i have a new batch of seedlings started and most have cracked their shells.. i have found that seeds grow better if they have time to develop before they are introduced to the soil..
btw i am sorry i am bad at spelling and im on a slow as shit computer that dosent keep up with me typing..

what's your timer set to? I would have my lights on an 18 hours on, 6 hours off, cycle, and the off cycle is during the warmest part of the day. You can plant into those 20 oz dixie cups at any time, many start them in those cups. just remember to poke holes at the bottom of the cups and add some perlite to your soil mixture to aid in drainage, it really helps the plant grow faster.
Are you using only the CFLs right now? Or both? your plants don't need too much light yet because they are so young, so go easy on em. I would use the CFLs until all your plants have their secondary leaves. then you can blast em with the HPS.
You can start flowering them at any time, but I would advise let them get at least 8-12 inches tall before initiating the flowering cycle.

ok the timer is set to 20-4..
and they both have the cfl's and hps.. since yesterday.. and they have their secondary leaves.. the ones with the more than one set of leaflets on each leaf..
the system is off when i sleep cause it and i share space.. ya know?? im used to sleeping with the smell. cant sleep right with out it, braaaw.
i just gave the kids some miracle grow.. just a 1/4 t. in a gal of nice clean tap water. if it tastes good its great 4 plants.. thats what my mom always said and u should see her gardens..
im using dirt from her garden and a local brand of organic dirt.. +20% perlite for goodness.. even my moms veg. garden has that sh*t and thats a huge place..
cant wait for pics to work

temp: 80.2 with room open..
humidity: 26%
ok today i watered very early.... had to bring my roommate to school so i was up.
now they all look kinda wilted and i think that they didnt need the water in the first place but that milk is spilled as they say.
is there anything that i can do to reverse this other than wait?
and is there any reason why i cant use miracle grow??? i have it and when i fed it to the girls they seemed to love it..
the argosun 600w...aka the 'sun' is about 2.5 ft over the plants and i want to get it closer..
bbl gotta restart system

temp: 84.4 w/ no fans going
humidity: 30%
so heres a lil update.. all of the kids are growing up.. they all have their 3rd set of real leaves. they are a real dark green.. is that good? but a few have lighter green leaves and i dont know why. i have not fed any of them since the last time i logged it on here but i did water all of the 2 oz dixies today. they seem to droop a bit if i dont water 'em every day.
i didnt water any of the bigger pots tho.
so how often should i be watering all of the babes anyway? i have just been watering them when ever they look dry ya know?
have a good turkey day!!

no covers, they attract mold s and algae :)
let the plant dry out a bit and use a mulch for the top layer. I use a little peat moss but you can use anything that drains well like wood chips or perlite. The lights should kill the algae once it's dry or you could spray a little hydro peroxide on the soil.

hey thanks shovel... i have a fan on them now but the mold is on the outside of the containers.. its not on the soil!!

much has changed in the DIG..
i have new and improved ferts.. neptunes harvest and the gurls are loving life now.
all of the plants are over 7 inches tall and some are up to 9"- 9.5".. i topped one of the larger plants because it was outpacing all of the others by quite bit and i am looking at topping another one soon-ish.. like in the next week or so because i think that it will be tall too. i am trying to keep the canopy around the same height so that it grows best.. sound right??
have a nice nite and i WILL pul pics up when i have the ability i have tons on the computer that i cant do anything but look at. they seem to be very helpful as i cant see the difference day to day but looking back the differences are huge.
