ive been present for pot growing but this will be the first time ive ever done it from scratch myself. Anyway, we got an incubator and a 250W LE bulb, germinated some seeds and they've started sprouting. i followed the instructions in this video we have ("mr green") and had the light hanging 12 inches above the seedlings after they sprouted. they are looking a little browish though. Is this normal, or are they dying? we thought maybe the light was too close and was burning them, so we moved it up to more like 2 feet away.
We're planning on using a hydroponic system, and we currently have them sitting in these little cubes, and are keeping them nice and moist. We've been maintaining a constant temperature of about 28 degrees celcius. The seedlings are green with some brown splotches. They are currently still standing strong but i worry due to the brown splotches that they may go down soon.

you may want to lower temp to like 75F or like 23.5C that would be optimal and the brown on the leaves will never turn green so dont worry. The new growth should come in green and then that little brown spot will hardly matter. The plant can really never have too much light but the heat from the light should be a concern. Never have a fan blow directly on your seedling, it will stress the fragile plant. Just keep the light about 8 to 12" if its a florescent and if its HPS or MH then keep it like 3 or 4 feet away. They are much too intense for the little seedlings. Keep them watered but not soggy and keep dont really use any nuts until you see nice pointy leaves in about the second week. Then use a 25% to 50% of what they tell you. keep it less than 500ppm but 400ppm is pretty good. If you keep up the good habits, it will grow. They dont call it weed for nothing lol.:rastasmoke:

btw 28 degrees celcius = 82F
Also, I forgot to mention we are keeping the light on 24/7 at this point. Is this correct?

no fan?? you need to have some kind of LIGHT air movement around the seedlings so there stems can strengthen and be able to hold itself up. No lil wiggle movement and they will most likely bend over when more new growth comes in.

sounds like you've cooked them, but without a photo, it's just a guess ... what is a 250watt 'LE" bulb ? , sorry, I'm not remembering an 'LE' ... I'm wondering if you're using an incandescent lamp (no good), if so, that's your problem... also, MOST growers use an 18/6 lighting cycle, although some wrongly assume 24 hr is better ... that argument will last until the end of time, I suppose ... as previously mentioned, you always need air movement in there with the plants ... go read the Basic Growing sections, and don't be afraid to use the 'Search' function ... good luck :smokin:

"" 2008 people voted for Obama to prove they weren't racists.....in 2010 they will vote to show they arent socialists " - Islandborn"
votes happen every 4 years not every 2.... and any remotely intelligent pot head would support obama over the conservatives, who are practically nazis (actually the Bush fortune came directly from deals they made with the nazis around WW2)
I mean, first of all, it's in your best interest to support liberals for obvious reasons, but really, what does the republican party represent? Racism, hatred, insecurity, violence, class discrimination, etc.
I hate to go off topic but the ignorance of this quote offends me. Thanks for the advice.

Like IR said you might have baked them. You dont want to go over 80f if you dont have too. Now I'm not saying grows can't be done in higher temps (god knows I'm not gonna start that fight lol), but if at all possible 65 for a low and 80 as a high. I also support 18/6 as from different discussions and things I have read, darkness is a key time for root development and also ..... everything needs a lil time to relax some

Actually any intelligent person would realize that obama is full of himself. Even the gays turned on him. lolz!!! He talks out of his ass on a daily basis, if he's qualified for one thing and one thing only, it's being able to take your attention away from what he's holding behind his back. As a tax paying citizen, it makes me sick to my stomach to see what he's doing with my money. Not only is he trying to give my money away to other people through various programs like the health insurance issue, but he putting me in debt because of it. Oh yeah go obama!!! the last possible thing i think about when voting is anything marijuana related, to be honest, if thats the first thing on ur list, u need to have a priority check. Is it no surprise that Obamas publicity rating has gone nothing but down since he was elected?? are people really seeing the mistake they made? i think that quote is far fetched but it holds more truth then u realize.
And i hope you come to a realization that each party has there extremes, you make democrats out to be angels, if u bothered to look closer democrats are just as bad as republicans in there own fucked up way.
Why the hell would it be in my best interest to be a liberal? I think u need a reality check, u shouldnt be voting for people based on there party, u should be voting for people because u believe in them.
We got screwed into obama, just like we got screwed into bush.

you're entitled to your opinion, and I am too :D ... the major difference between our opinions is that mine come from a lifetime of hard work, taxpaying, and education, while yours obviously come from reading too many comic books :D ... I won't even touch the ridiculous 'Bush dealt with the Nazis' fantasy ... you need to go to bed earlier, and leave Art Bell out of your debates :D ... look, both Bush presidents were lame, I was no fan of either, but the alternative of Kerry or Gore, made it a no-brainer :wtf: ... as to my 'ignorance of when elections are held', for example, there IS a MAJOR CONGRESSIONAL and Gubernatorial elections in 2010, and Obama's 'policies' will bring a lot of his fellow Liberals into the sewer with him, at that time ... you would probably been aware of the 2010 Congressional election, but doubtful it was mentioned in your latest issue of 'Obamaman Comix' :D ... and, you may disagree with me 100%, but 'ignorant' is one term that does not apply to me ... now, go read a book (not Marx), get a job, and put down your bong, till you come to your senses ...
more on track with your query, what is an LE light ?, that doesn't ring a bell ...
good luck, and happy gardening ! :D

Ok, we need a new party cause I don't like either. Maybe something laid back. Chong is too high profile but someone like that. Willie's old let's make him prez before he dies, Maybe he can straighten out his own taxes then. LOL
Hell I would vote for Snoop Dog if he ran. What's he going to hurt.
Read My Lips- Light up and relax. too many tight asses in washington.

Try raising your lights to about 20 inches above your plants plus a shot of 1/4 strength food might help also
