So I'm giving this another shot, my last attempt got ruined cause my lights fell on both my plants and burned them to a crisp. Here I've got a feminized Crimea Blue, she's about 3 weeks old now, slow but steady growth. Growing in a closet with some CFLs, mixed spectrum. I don't know why but the lower leaves have been/are yellowing, trying to get to the root of that problem!

did ya put any perlite in your soil mix to add in drainage? I suggest you do that when you decide to transplant into a bigger pot.

Yellowing is usually a nitrogen deficiency.
What nutrients are you using?

Well I bought the soil, it did come with perlite mixed into it. I think Schultz makes it. I'm also using basic Miracle Grow (24-8-16) cause it's all I could find at the time. I figured it was a nitrogen deficiency, I'll see if anything improves within a week or so!

if your using 24-8-16 then it shouldn't be a nitrogen defficiency. Its time for more knowledgeable people than I to answer

I only just started using the nutrients so it didn't have any before I noticed the yellowing, we'll see how things go but thanks for your input

She's just about a month old :) I don't see any signs of progressed yellowing so thats good, must be liking the nutes.

I am wondering if we can get a pic of your setup, and some more info about it? The plant looks healthy but I think you could be doing better a month in. Anyways good luck:)

I can get a pic of my setup in a few days. And I know it could be doing better, I really need to buy more 6500K CFLs, right now I only have 4 x 13W @ 2700K and 2 x 42W @ 6500K....I think I'll just buy more 6500K lights and replace them with my 13W ones. Also! I've decided I'm going to LST, it's my first time trying it out so I'm excited.:D

Hmm, just wondering, are you running any sort of ventilation? Also did you move your lights to take the picture? You want to make sure you have CFL's as close as you can get em, in my experience having them within 6 inches seems to be fine. Other than that shes looking good:)

No I don't have any ventilation besides keeping the door propped open because of the wardrobe I'm using..I can't exactly alter it because of my living situations but I think it works fine. I didn't move the lights but she is about 6 inches away from the light:) She's growing so fast I'll have to lift them up more soon!!

I think I'm gonna transplant soon cause I wanna keep LSTing but this pot is a little small for that and I have a feeling she's gonna get pretty big... I've also attached a pic of the baby Bubblegum.

Tied her down again. I noticed the roots are starting to show at the bottom of the pot so I'll have to transplant pretty soon. She's getting nice and bushy :)

Hey man, when you tie it down, you should bend it over as much as you can, like 90 degrees if possible. Also you should water before bending.

Finally transplanted, yay. I couldn't find that big a pot but it's ok cause my space is kinda small to begin with. Here she is! (with the Bubblegum)

Lookin good! I'm suprised you're able to use the MG without burning your little girls, you must be diluting alot more than recommended?

Great LST too, I love it!

Happy Growing,
Bob.

1) Keep the cfl lamps close to the plants. 2" -3"

2) Watering plants makes them brittle and will snap the stems (of course, you can bend them immediately after watering as it takes time for the plant to absorbe water). Think of fresh celery stalks, if you bend them they snap. If they start to dry out (like a plant that needs watering) the bend willingly.

1) agree 100% , fluorescent should always be as close as possible to the plants without the plants actually touching the bulbs.

2) I understand what you're saying and agree, however you shouldn't be bending the stalks or stems hard enough to "snap" anything. This is why it's called Low stress training and not high stress training.
Simply, be gentle!

EvilCartman, thanks!! I'm gonna keep her in veg til almost mid January :)

BobBong; I'm surprised too, everywhere I read people say not to use MG but it's working for me? I am diluting it though.

Shov; don't worry I'm keeping them CFLs nice and close ;) It definitely helps!

MonkeyBone; LST is awesome!! lol I was a little hesitant at first but it's working wonders!

Phew!

Two great looking plants.

I'm a newbie so take this with a grain of salt but looks like the crim is starting to flower, are they getting enough light (I only ask because you said you wanted to veg for quite a while longer)?

Thank you! Yes the Crimea is starting to flower, there's preflowers everywhere but I won't start actually flowering til about mid January (not out of choice). Still unsure of the sex of the Bubblegum though, I have a feeling it may be male because of how fast its growing but we'll see! :)

So my babies are no longer in my care, they have moved places temporarily but they are safe and sound. Updates will be few so I figured why not post a couple pics from my very first grow! Mmmmmmm juicy.

Uuuuuuuuuuuuuuggggggggghhhhhhhh, bad news guys, both plants were found by some disapproving people and had to be killed.....the Bubblegum was male anyway turns out but my main lady is no more :( Thanks for all tuning in though, all comments/feedback were much appreciated. Perhaps I'll start another log one of these days.......Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all:bonghit:
