If you gave up for a year and don't like the high now, then stay given up. Don't start back up if you went a year and now it's no good!

Are you worried you're going to get caught? Sometimes I get the fear when I have to go somewhere where I shouldn't be high but I'm high out of my fucking mind. Mom can always tell when I'm high the woman is a genius.

Perhaps you just need a better environment to smoke in... are you smoking alone or with friends? It all depends on the person but some people get a lot more paranoid when smoking alone than with some friends who can keep you centered. For others being alone in a comfortable environment can help.
Also this could be a sign of some other unacknowledged anxiety issues that perhaps marijuana is just heightening. Perhaps make sure your head's in a good place before you decide to light one up again.

Councilling seems to have put some negative suggestions into your mind.
First step? Tell your brain to shut the fuck up. Take control. Honest. People often talk themselves into negative states when all it takes is a bit of peace in your mind. Repeat the mantra "SHUT THE FUCK UP... SHUT THE FUCK UP"
Second step? What images are going through your head? If you don't like then push them way off into the distance until they disappear.
Third step? Take a deep breath and let it out slowly. Relax. Focus on areas on your body where you are tense. Soften the muscles one by one. You will know when you are doing it right when you have an overall comfortable feeling in your body.
Fourth step? Start giving yourself positive suggestions with your internal dialogue. You will know where your voice is in your mind when you ask "where is my internal voice?" What you hear is what it is. Hypnotists give people people suggestions that create profoundly positive states in their clients but what most people don't realize is that the best and most constant hypnotist is ourselves. We talk ourselves into trouble and we can talk our way to peace. "I am really relaxed and in control." If at any point your mind tells you otherwise... repeat the mantra "SHUT THE FUCK UP... SHUT THE FUCK UP"
Hope this works for you. It does for me.

smoke half as much as you did...you're not used to it like you once was, get your mind and body tolerable to the effects, then you'll be fine...I dealt with the same thing when I had drug tests every month

or, a person 'could' be a paranoid schizophrenic, and pot would likely worsen the fear ... it's entirely possible, this person is one of the few who should NOT use marijuana ... we're not doctors, here ... good luck with your situation, friend ... :smokin:

when having panic attacks you actually think your dying in most cases.
i had it bad last year man and swore i wouldnt touch it again and blamed it all on weed. a guy above me has explained the breathing but prevent it coming to that, there is nothing wrong with you, you have to assure yourself that.
sort all your life out before finally using the weed to heighten that feeling!
i know that was basic, i could say so much but im sooo baked
good luck, youll be okay within a year

Theres nothing really you can do about it, if u cant handle it dont smoke or just smoke alittle bit at a time, wait a few minutes ..if ur good smoke alittle more. Or you could just smoke a shitload and suffer threw it which in my opinion the best option because suffering makes you stronger in the long run. As far as thinking people are out to get you thats really you out to get them, in other words; trying to understand what their experiencing in contrast to you which will always be impossible for you or them.

Sort your head out, then get back on the smoke. Surely there was a reason you went through drug councilling to get off the stuff? If you still have unresolved issues then starting toking again is only going to make things worse.

+1, exactly what I was thinking after reading this. :stoned: (only a little less crazy sounding, but it IS all in your head and you can change it)

I had to quit for 20 years to complete my career in the Air Force, random drug testing made it too much of a risk and I had a family to take care of.
Once I retired, I smoked a doobie of killer weed with my cousin. It was my first high in twenty years and it hit me really hard. I lost focus on what everyone was saying and everything seemed too loud and vibrant. I had to get away from everyone and be by myself. Once I did that, I was able to reacquaint myself with the effects and calm down. I was just out of practice and as one poster mentioned, I had some negative things in my own mind that I had to square away. It wasn't the weed.
Now I find that I have changed from a "social smoker" to more of a solitary smoker. I enjoy the effects much more when I'm free from trying to hold a conversation at the same time . . . I always keep forgetting what the heck I'm talking abou . . . and um . . . er ah . . .
