The type and wattage of the bulb might help someone formulate a meaningful answer for you. With the info above, the answer is *maybe*. ;)

OK, now we know it's a 25-watt 'something' :D ... is it a CFL bulb, or a fluorescent tube, or a plain old incandescent lightbulb ? ... the varieties do matter ... whatever it is, 25 watts ain't gonna work, for ya, anyway ... way too small of a light ... go read the Lighting section, you won't have to read very far, before you see what I mean ... good luck :smokin:

incandesant at that range could burn your plants, and also is so little light that its useless.
At the very least your going to have to buy a bundle of compacct flourecents. Look at lumens, thats what matters. there's also a number of lighting guidelines in the stickies you should check out.

It sounds like your using 1-3 gallon pots, this is pretty large for a seedling. If you can do so without disturbing it, transfer it to a pint size container

Get that incandescent light out of there...Not only is it too hot, it's not the right spectrum for your seedlings. Get some Compact Flourescent Lights (CFLs) or some flourescent tube lights (the "cool white" variety). The closer the lights are to your plants the better (more light). But make sure the lights aren't too hot - hold your hand near the top of your plants, and if it's too hot for your hand, it's too hot for your plants. In that case, raise the lights until it's no longer too hot.
