Most of the recipes I have found tell you to soak the marijuana in something for weeks. Isn't there a way to make one without having to wait?

For a good extraction, it does take some time.
You'll need a new username, btw.

Title says it all. I know it takes a little courage to get brave enough to commit the time and resources, but if you try and follow the recipe to the letter it works as advertised. Total time involved about 1hr plus.

In the book Trash to Stash there is a recipe for quick tinctures. basically you shake your trim to get kief and use 2 grams per oz of everclear and put it in a glass jar shake and sit overnight. I have done a couple batches like this and have had great results from people with real edical issues.

Long soaks pickup the water solubles and chloraphyll, which makes it taste greeeeeeeeeeeeeen!!!!!!!!!!!

I would use a QWISO technique and reduce down the wash to the consistency you desire.

I just stumbled over this and posted it in another thread but unless I am totally bombed out it seems to work. Take a pint mason jar(s) and fill it/them half way up with whatever dope you are goiing to use. Top off the jar with food grade glycerine and put the lid on it. Submerge the jars in a pan of water enough to cover the tops of the jars by two inches. Put the lid on the pot and bring the water up to a boil and reduce the heat to keep a gentle boil going for 10 mins. Remove and cool overnight. Store in a warm dark place. I made some last night and its kicking my ass today. Thinking it will just get better as time passes. 1/4 teaspoon sublingual was enough to do me in and I have a real high tolerance. Might strain it one of these days. As is just gets a little weed in your teeth.
