Here is my grow space. The measurements are 71"H x 40"W x 24" D. I was thinking those Mylar tents I see on ebay would work fine or even a grow box of some sort. I'm just not sure what size tent to get because I will be attaching aluminum ducting to the tent or box. There will be exhaust fans and electrical cords also attached to the tent/box. I will be putting doors on this space so the tent/box will be hidden behind the doors. What do I think I should do with this spot? What size tent would fit into there given that I will need to attach stuff to the tent? Would a box be better? A direct link so I can see what your talking about would be appreciated. Thanks.

I'm thinking a tent would be a retarded idea now. I have total access to the space above and to the side so I can run duct work through there as well as install any industrial fans I might need. I think I might just install a double door on the front of the space and then drywall the inside of the space. After that I can purchase some reflective pain and just paint the space instead of purchasing mylar or a tent. I can hang the light from above and have access to water just to the left. I will be trying my hand at hydro this time instead of potting soil.

yeah a tent would just be a waste of money.the purpose behind them is to creat an ideal growing environment,or even a space to grow.well u have both.if u use pand film u wont even need to throw up any drywall. just cut your duct work, then staple up your film.shit in all reality u dont even really need a door.just use the panda film and staple it over the fron so there are no light leaks during your grow. "a door is a good idea though"if i was u i would just put the film up and the door and use the couple hundred bucks i would have spent on a tent on new toys for the grow room, but thats just me

I'm having ventilation issues with the design. I'll post the question again here since there is a pic with this thread. Assuming I have an air cooled reflector at the top of this space, how do I design the venting? I have already ordered a 4" vortex fan and carbon scrubber but I am unsure how to incorporate that into the space as well as the reflector. It was suggested to me that I need a separate vortex fan and aluminum duct work for the air cooled reflector. Then I would need another duct for grow room ventilation. I'm just having a hard time understanding why I cant hook the carbon filter to one side of the reflector and then the fan to the other side of the reflector. This would suck air from within the room, through the air cooled reflector and then up and out through the attic. What's wrong with that setup? Why would the hydro salesman want a separate duct for the light? The light is a 600watt by the way, which is probably way too much for this space. Thoughts?

Facts about this pic: a hot water heater is on the left side of the space, this spot is in the garage that is exposed to the attic since there is no drywall ceiling in there and finally on the right side of the space as well as to the back is my home. How should I run the ventilation system?

I have drawn up a crappy picture of how my setup works (see below)....and it works with just one fan. In the pic you can see that air comes in from the attic (the duct goes nearly to the floor as cool air is denser and falls anyway). It then circulates in the grow area (as I have a desk fan stirring the air around in the cupboard). And then the air is sucked through the open end of the air cooled light fitting out into the attic again by a 4" vent fan (which is in the attic), thus ventilating the grow area AND cooling the light. A carbon filter can be added to the other side of the vent fan but I haven't bothered as I like a 'stinkyattic' :D. This setup is working great! So save money and electricity with just 1 fan. Not sure how you can do the ducting from your description though.

I like the bit asking why would a salesman want to sell you more stuff...:D

600w will give plenty of light for that area (Approx 6.7 square foot) and remember 'big light = big buds' if utilised correctly.

Hope this has helped a bit. Good luck! :smokin:
