this was my first year growing and i grew two successful plants outdoor. they have been chooped for a week now and i already miss having plants so i decieded to try indoor, though i have no clue where to start. complete noob. i have a closet about 4x4 where i plan to use as my grow room. i plan on having 2 or 3 plants (clones from the local club) seeing as i have limited space and that will be plenty of ganja for my own personal use.

the closet is about 6 feet tall with 2 removable shelves. one about 2.5 feet from the cieling where i plant to start the clones, one about 2 feet down from the previous shelf where i plan to move them when they out grow the first shelf. then i will move them to the floor and start the flowering cycle.

now comes the hard part for me at least. i have no clue what lights to use, if my idea will even work etc. i want a cheap and easy way to grow nothing fancy. hopefully just a couple of lights and a fan or two. but honestly i have no clue so i need the advice of the experts out there who know from expiernce. feel free to tell me if there is no hope in my idea as i do not want to waste my time. basically i am asking where do i start in setting this up? i will get a picture of the closet up in a few days when my outdoor is finished drying in it. please respond i want to start asap

Hey man, Well if you are looking for cheap grow lights CFL's would be the way you want to go.

But if you wanted to do it the way with the two proper lighting systems [ The way I like it lol ] You would want to go with a HPS/MH swithable ballast. Strictly because the MH[Metal Halide] light gives off the blue spectrum light wich the plant likes during the vegatation stage of her growth, the HPS[High Pressure Sodium] gives off a red spectrum wich the cannabis plant loves aswell under flowering. You can purchase HPS bulbs with red spectrum but they also give off a bit of blue spectrum to increase growth. A 400w MH/HPS switchable will run you 150-200$. I would suggest a 600w for your specified settings.

Thats just my 2 cents, good luck

thanks for the reply.
i do not have enough money to afford the HPS lights so i am considering using the CFls. have you ever used these types of lights? is it worth it to use these lights? and can you purchase them in stores, i do not have a credit card so online isnt an option.

well they do make smaller systems.like a 250 thats switchable and they are priced pretty well.maybe like a hundred bux and u wont need a lot of cooling componets.the way i look at it is your going to spend half that on good cfl's might as well double your buck and tripple your lumens.

oh i meant smaller lighting systems that are verry effective and priced for some one in your shoes. like a 150 or a 250 watt switchable system.

during your plants early stages of growth "veg" they like a blue spectrum of light.metal halid lamps give this spectrum .during your flowering cycle "12/12" your plants want red/orange'ish color,it signifies the end of summer and its time to start producing.hps lamps will give u this spectrum of light.now the newer ballast's u can flip a switch and change the bulb with out having to buy a 2 seperate lighting systemsso basically u get 2 lighting systems in one.personally i just use conversion bulbs but i also run much larger lighting systems than a 150 or 250 watt .

Thanks for repeating everything I said in my earlier post. lol

Anyway, they are right a 150-250watt would suffice for you. I honestly would spend the money to get the light it grow best with. I have seen alot of CFL grows that have been just great, you can pick CFL's up at any hardware store, you also need to find the adapter socket aswell, Good luck.:rastasmoke:

i do not have a credit card so online isnt an option.

As a future tip - buy a pre-paid visa gift card with cash if you wish to purchase online. They sell them at most walgreen's/gas stations. Very handy!
