nitrogen, urea, and a nitrogen deficiency solution question

my plants are under 3 40w and 1 60w cfl's
they are in organic soil with 20% pearlite and 10% peat mix
they are about 2 weeks old

i have not started feeding them nutes yet because the soil says on it "feeds for up to three months" and i didnt want to burn them

two of my plants , the largest of the bunch, have leaves turning light green then yellowing from the bottom up and tips in. i believe this is nitrogen deficiency so i have purchased urea and have mixed a small amount into the top inch or so of the soil.

i have also fed those two with an 8-7-6 liquid nutrient solution at half strangth

my questions are

1. does this sound like nitrogen deficiency?

2. do you think what i have done will solve the issue?

3. although it doesn't say this will work in my garden saver book, if i dissolve the urea i have , which is 45-0-0, in water will the plants be able to absorb it?

i tested it and the urea i have will dissolve in water i just dont know if the plants can take it in.

The problem is nitrogen def but can't guarantee your ferts will work, but the probably will. If the urea dissolves in water and the manufacturer says it is for plant use, then you can feel comfortable that the plants will take this up. 45 sounds pretty high. Did you mix the powder into the soil? The 8-7-6 should be enough. Just don't overdo it.

the urea isnt a powder its a bunch of little white rocks... it looks like pearlite but doesn't crush when you put presser on it. it isnt made to be mixed with water its made to be mixed in with the soil thats why i didnt know if the plants could take it in after being dissolved into water.

how long does it normally take to see improvement in the plant, i realize the first set of leaves probably wont recover but how long till the light green ones start to darken, im only so worried because the plants are still very small and i could see this killing them if they dont perk up quickly. obviously i would like to just dump a bottle of nutes in but i know a little goes a long way with that stuff.

Im having the same problem right now.

Was using a 20:20:20 mix, but at the same time, the plants were showing nute burn and N deficiency. I flushed the plants, went out and bought Urea to up the N levels, and stopped using the 20:20:20 mix.

I think yours have the same problem, marijuana doesnt need strong doeses of P or K untill the flowering stage, and would be much better to focus on N during veg.

to use the urea you dont have to crush it or mix it with the water, simply sprinkle a small handful (very small handful at first) on the surface of the soil. no need to put it in as to not disturb the roots. and water over the small rocks/pearls. they will dissolve and the nutrients will be absorbed into the soil. you should see the results in a couple days time.

Try picking up some Miracid from your local hardware store. Its very cheap and does an excellent job during veg. Its the only thing I use during veg.
