yea MB i think you are right... so how are you and and frosty gonna judge this? if its gonna be by weight then you are gonna be smoked.. i think. but if it is on the appearance then you might have a chance.. just saying.

your lil gurl looks like she cant wait to be smoked.. you have done a very good job on her and i think the lights are better where they are now then where they were b4..

Well it is impossible to even put up a plant that is called Purple Wreck against a bagseed plant, being that looks on the internet mean everything. My plant could taste like a soiled diaper for all I know so I thought forget putting that one up.

But Wonder Woman was about the size of yours before flower and its a indica Dom plant, yours is kinda looking more Sat dom but whatever. I like the look your lady has It is cooler that you had a hand in creating the marriage of both of your previous genes from earlier grows. That alone makes want to vote for yours! Oh how tall is she now?

I am also running mine with hps 550watts and air cooled hood and damn good soil-less mix . So anything that looks as nice as yours get my vote for simplicity and overall curb appeal. I think I spent 15 bucks a seed for the PW and 10 bucks for the one Wonder W. I did two runs of bagseed that I logged on here and they sucked compared to the growth I am having this run so its known genetics for me from now on. Yours I would keep though being she looks great and you enjoyed smoking her parents! Its all gravy!

It's more of a friendly contest. Appearance and frostiness + harvest weigh-in!

Plant is towering at 34", she will be at same height of my last year's smallest plant, she was 40" at harvest. I tought this plant was going to be realy tall, but it kinda slowered a lot when i put her in 12/12.

Also watered her w/nutes today. She was beginning to starve on nutes!

I love the use of the battery! Neat thing is we can get energy from both the battery and the Plant! Love the color of those tops..I will use a battery in a Wonder W pic later... very nice keeps getting better!

I found that a "AA" battery is best suited for comparison!

She's frosting along nicely!! And it's a real monster!! 3 feet high by more than 2 feet across, all bushy.

Do you have a plan if the buds become too large and cause the branches to sag? In your closet/laundryroom, you might think about putting a coat rack on the wall, above that light switch. You could use it to tie up the branches if they begin to fall. That room you are growing in is pretty cool, looks very modern. You could get something that looks good for under $8 at Lowes.

Last year, branches were sagging. Solution? Simple, tie them up to the trunk where branches joints!! (There are some pics in my last years log) Got some wire to tie them up! They are already tied to the sides of the pot. But they are tied to pry them to get more light to get to the center.

Now, i will water her tomorrow, supposed to be plain water but, leaves look a bit pale, so i might put some nutes. What you think?

It's a closet man not a laundry room! where dyou get that? The big think in the closet is a freezer, but I don't use it in winter, only in summer when i put icesicles in it!

Just wondered what the 400w are doing to your electric bill? I was curious if its cheaper then hps. I think it takes longer with the cfl's, but not sure. I haven't seen any difference in my bill. I like outdoor growing, but really not involved much with it though:wtf:

I'm not sure if CFLs take longer or not, but I know HID is much more efficient, in terms of lumens. Too many threads discussing this, so I won't clutter of MB's thread with repetitive info.

However, I think MB has found the best way to maximize results with CFLs. I'd say he is achieving the same results as those using a like-wattage HID. So in that sense, one can't really claim that CFL's are inferior to HID. Pretty impressive :thumbsup:

hate to disagree with you shake.. but idk about running 400w of cfl on ONE plant! that is a lot of light on one lil gurl. i doubt if it will be TOO airy.. ya know?
and that is not based in fact so if you have ever put that kinda of light density to the gurls with cfl's tell we what is true..

and HID does rock.. even a n00b can get results under a HPS.. :D

Big and smooth, not as dense as HPS, but still, not as airy as outside grow!

Electrical bill? No difference, maybe 5$ a month? It's not something i'll call my mom for.

I've waited too much last year for harvesting the girls. So this year will be more aware of the ready-ness of my plant?! Anyway, not near achievement now, so..

Today i've watered it w/nutes. Full load. We'll see if she likes it.

Day 89 (30 flower) Plant is 34" tall from soil, no change in about, 1 week. So for you out there calling "start 12/12 now if not she will triple her size!" hum..she grown about, 10% her size...And she's a month in flower.. I think she's putting all her energy in growing buds!!!

Monkey I want to add a bit of advice for your next growing. During the very early stages and up to about a month into flower you can take lower branches and gentally bend them. You can even go as far and "gently" bending as much as to break the branch. Doing this to the side bud sites that grow early enough into flower will cause the plant to product insane amounts of resin while still alowing the plant to heal. I have gently bent and broken the main stem of all 3 of my big girls about 5 inches from the tops and they all have healed with a nice FAT scar you could say where it was bent and the rezz is makin me drool. You dont want to snap it so it opens a wound just bending a little. Iv read alot about this but in my first grow i had a fan fall and break 3 branchs, they healed and this bud was dripping thc haha. Food for thought. give it a try on ur next grow and or read up on it. Looking great.

Yo MonkeyBone. I'm a noob and have yet to attempt my frist grow although im currently gathering materials in order to do so.

Just wanted to say thanks for the awesome grow log and that i'm learning a lot from your thread. :thumbsup: It's really helpful since your only growing one plant and helps me understand how to care for a single plant rather than 10 plants like many grow logs are doing on here. Thanks again man!

Electricity is cheap here, and some of us fin a way to complaint about it!

If i'm correct, it cost me less than 5$ a month of electricity.. I think it's right. Our 6-7 1200w heaters or more energyvore!! Anyway, energy bill is not something to worry about, not for another 1 and a half month :P Winter bill!!! minus 15° celcius for 2-3 months in a row = $$$

MG, don't worry about the watts so much. watts are merely the consumption of power. 400W of HPS compared to 400W of CFL is not the same. true it's both 400W of power being consumed, but the difference is that one is more efficient than the other. the CFL produces 46-72 lm/W (or is 8-11% efficient). a HPS is in the 85-100 lm/W range (or is 12-22% efficient). granted lumens are a measurement used for the human eye.

not to mention, the lumens, ~1600 for a 23-26W CFL are not added together. they do increase in areas where the light overlaps, but it's not like you (and most others) are thinking.

lets say you had 50 CFL bulbs (all 1600 lumens).

1600*50= 80,000 lumens (IF they added up, which they don't).

now a 400W HPS ranges from 50,000-80,000 lumens....all from a single light source. therefore you know that you are in fact getting said lumens.

did that make any sense?

not to mention, that's ONE plant. under how many CFLs? that one plant's meds aren't gonna last you very long (although this is relative) as a tent full of bigger, more dense buds that more than likely have better trich production. not to mention you will spend less on a HPS setup in the log run as opposed to adding more and more CFLs. trust me, not getting an HID off the bad is the single biggest mistake most people (including me!) make.

MB, i was in no way knocking your plant or anything. she is a real beaut! i've worked under CFLs for several grows and just outputting my opinion from my knowledge gained.

Maybe a size "D" battery, not a bulb!:P Buds are big but a bit fluffy. I sqeezed one yesterday and man, they're pretty dense. Sure Peachez last year has had dense buds, but leafy buds.

Starting to smell a lot more too!

Edit: Hard like banana things on top of some buds, it's confirmed. Male balls things.I cracked open some, no pollen, only bananas. Anyway there is not much, like maybe 7 or 8 buds have 1 on their top...Not 487564387 like Anetta last year! 99.999% Female!

This is my favorite time of the flower stage. Now the buds swell up and get fat. I remember my very first plant. Was an afgani strain. Grew a 16 inch dick. I have a comparison pic of days 30 and day 55 and u see how FAT they get. ended up being a 30 G nug. I cant wait.

Freakin' resin..Sticky stuff!

She weights 12,5 pounds, DRY. She will be watered tomorrow with ~3 liters of pure water. So weight all WET is around 15 pounds. The pot is around 2 pounds, soil is aroung 6-7 pounds. So plant is ~3 pounds I suppose. About 4 feet high bottom up. 35" from soil.

So yes it's a big plant, but I got enough space to move her, even if she barely fits in between a door frame!

This grow is looking fine, Bub!

It will be great to see the Z11 (sativa dom) x Neville's Haze grow in your set up. The bloom cycle will be the interesting part. The fmale Z11 went 10 weeks, nice. And she looked 100% sativa. Now the male can give genes that may take a long time to finish. If you grow them all out (18) hopefully you'll find a short bloom cycle female in there. Also, I'd not throw out all the males. Neville's Haze from Mr Nice Seeds are not cheap and like I did, cross them with a wicked female and hope for something great.

They look cloudy to me, but it was not a very good pic. I'm off tomorrow so i'll find a way to take very good super macro (digital macro) or normal macro...with zoom or whatever. Got a tripod but I can't get close enough of the buds.

I don't know the strain, but I know last year, her mom was harvested WAYYY too late.. like 1 month and a half too late. It got bigger, but not better. Last year plant got ~1¾ months veg + ~ 4 months flower... Now i'm at 2 month veg and 1½ month flower. So I'll see with tomorrows pics what is the time I got before chopping her down. Pistils are 4/10 brown..

I agree they look cloudy, but i don't see any amber yet. I always wait until I have 10% amber or more before harvesting. That way you know the trichs are for sure cloudy, and not "pretending". I've seen trichs that I thought were cloudy (but i didn't see any amber so I waited), and saw them turn much more opaque, truely cloudy.

Worst thing would be to harvest this magnificent plant too early :)

I read back about 3 days that you were stopping with the nutes and giving her plain water...If you think you're close to harvest you might wanna just keep her on the water...You can give her carbs with non sulphered molasses and or a synthetic carb such as Sweet...A hit of FinalFlush or Final Phase also helps to make buds taste naturally delicious...

I always chased my bud enhansers,(BigBud for example) with a finisher,(OverDrive for example) towards the end of the grow as I found products like this to speed along the coloring being looked for in the trichs...

Wishin' ya a smooth finish and an abundant harvest...:thumbsup:

Harvested....A couple seeds from top bud! Damn, dozen seeds, f*ck. I want flowers, not seeds!

Anyway, I'll try some different things tomorrow with my camera to get clearer pictures, less yellow, of the trichs. Thought I had plenty of time today, but in fact I was still busy enough!

I certainly don't want to harvest too early, but I don't want to harvest too late!!

I will water her tomorrow, plain water! I think i'll take your idea DTRave, only water as of now!

I don't have flushy things but, plain old tap water, a lot, will do the trick. I can't find unsulfured molasse, and I don't want this grow to cost me anymore money.

Got some great seeds today in the mail, not crappy hermi like I do. I know they look fabulous on pictures, but my plants are not even 10% of what those seeds are! I'm pretty glad!

Some Neville Haze! But I don't know for sure if they were breeded with some other strain!

I'm thinking of popping some for summer, but I know it'll be TOO DAMN HOT in the grow room. The room have poor insulation, and in winter, when it's near congelation point, I get over 90s in temps. So in summer, i'll be over 100-110 all time, night and day. It's a no-no for quality seeds.

So i'll take patience in my hands and grow some next autumn! Maybe 2, but only 1 month veg, so smallest plant but 2 of 'em... We'll see!!

The plant is currently in flushing phase, 2-3 weeks before harvesting. So no more nutes. But throughout this grow I used Nature's Grow (organic) nutes, N, P, K, separately. There's a picture in this grow log. I added some Big Bud Powder through flowering.

I was looking at last year's pictures from my other grow, I looked at the trichs at various time of flower. I saw 15-20% amber at 9-10 weeks. So I think that this plant will be ready to harvest in 2-3 weeks!

thats normal monkey .. ripe marijuana plants never look as pretty as they do 2 weeks earlier .. they are just using up what they got left in the leaves .. kinda like when fall comes around and they trees outside are all different colors.. if you take a look at my plants they look like they are entering the final stages but i just fucked them up :wtf:

I have one question, how much water does one of your plants drink a day at this stage of flowering? Mine are currently drinking 600ml a day.

If i'm not mistaken, the fan leaves (and others) start to wilt and die off towards the end of the flowering stage, right? :stoned:

Leaves on top bud are yellowish purple, kinda weird looking. She loses about 5 leaves daily. Normal falling leaves.

Ummmm.....he has ONLY clear trichs.

MB - I'd continue to flower if I were you. If you were on your 11th or 12th week of flowering, I'd probably think about cutting. But you're at week 8...I'd give her at least another week t show some amber. Personally, I think that your plant is so happy that she still wants to develop more for you :greenthumb:

I see a few that might be starting to turn amber, but not enough for my personal preference; I'd let her keep doing her thing. You don't want to waste the first 118 days of your work only to harvest too early!

Also, for trich pics, it's easier to distinguish clear/cloudy/amber in sunlight or 65K bulbs. The 27K bulbs used to flower are to yellow for trich pics. Do you have a Radio Shack near you? For $8-12, you can get a microscope and see for certain. Illuminated Microscope - RadioShack.com (http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2179604)

Buddy earlier who said why spend 115 days only to crop it to early is exactly right. Smoking lower buds won't help me find if she's ready or not. Lower buds are not ready for sure, they are developping more! But higher buds are not developping more much. PS: I don't smoke :P

i've noticed (and read) that you won't necessarily get a bunch of amber trichs with CFLs. just my $.02.

careful MB, from what i've read THC starts to "cook off" (for lack of a better word at the moment) around 200F. from that same information it is suggested to quick-dry buds at ~150F.

1 minute after putting it in the oven I turned it down to 150f, at "keep warm" option. Left it there for 5-6 minutes.

FINAL DAY 123/64 Days of flowering.

Brought down the grow set-up, plant is currently outside at -2 degrees celcius. I'll chop her down in 1-2 hours.

Done!!

After 3 and a half hours of labor, and loosing almost all my precious bud trim (tried taking the scissors, kicked the trim bucket on the carpet, full of dust and hairs and stuff...) i finally managed to harvest her clean!

I'm gonna guess 2 and 3/4 oz. but who can tell from pictures?
Im gonna go back and check on how you managed to keep cfls all around that nice lady.

Stainless steel wires!!! You can do everything with that, along with duct tape and tie-wraps.

I'll post better pics with some money coins or batteries so you can more guess the yield.

instead of ounces, how about we guess in grams? That way we can see who is closest! If you don't prune anything else from the pics you posted, my guess is 86 grams :thumbsup:

Dried weight total is.....

77 grams. Less than I expected but, way better than last year!! (In term of quality)

Almost identical yield as my fatest last year.

They were BONE dry yesterday, put them all in mason jars with orange peel, and today they are PERFECT!!!

Thanks all for your support, questions, answers, everything!!!

I'll log occasionaly to see how it goes here!

It's a Suzuki Sv650S! First bike ever! I've been waiting 10 years to have one, so i'm very excited about this!!

Onto the subjet now, Final Pics!!!!

7 days after harvesting. This is all what's left of the crop. My friends really liked it!!

Lots of orange hairs, and it tastes orange too! (Maybe of the orange skins i've put inthe jars to rehydrate them!)

"Couch potato" high and a bit of "wow have you look at that thing?" kinda high. Really fun!!

Great for pain relieve! Shoulder and back, are the main subject here!

Been a fun ride, so we will see us next year for a Neville Haze x Z11 grow!!!

One fellow friend of mine as started some of Shovel's Neville x Z11 I gave him. We'll see how they turn out! And if I'm gonna go with them next year!

Man, you used that plant up fast. Think you'll try some different peels in your next cure? Lemon? Lime? Apple slice?

My friends were very happy! I don't smoke for 5 years now.

Peels were there to rehumidify, because I let them get too dried up.
