This is my first grow (not counting a plant in my early 20s that wound up looking like a palm tree). I'm on a limited budget so the system will grow and evolve over time, starting out very DIY and winding up very turnkey.

I want to have 2 SOG/aeroponic grow chambers, one veg, one bud of 5 plants each (in addition to 2 mother plants and then I'm okay in CA).

My question (probably the first of many) what is the optimal amount of space for 5 plants in a SOG setup. I want to give the plants all the space they need, so they don't crowed each other, but not waste any space.

The closet I'm setting up in is 2' deep so each grow chamber will be 24"x?" (height is adjustable, so that'll be coming along as another question).

Thanks for your help from anyone who knows what they're talking about :bonghit:

I have a different situation, being in a soil bed, but im comfortably flowering 6 plants in a 3ft x 5ft closet with a 7ft height. I'm doing LST + SCROG to get an even canopy, although my last round got a bit away from me.. :stoned:

You can see all the info logged thru my sig..

I built my closet operation from around $600 in supplies, but that included air intake/outtake, and lighting.. 1x 1k HPS

I'm using it as a flowering chamber primarily, while propagating clones under CFLs..

Thanks for the info and pictures (amazing pics). Actually I think it would be the same for my project as yours, as far as the leaves crowding (only the roots would be different).

I've just been looking at re-vegging, which would save me from having to have the mother plants (6 mature and 6 immature).

Anyone have different experiences?

i would say it is largely strain dependent, growing method, and wattage. stalkier bushier plants will need more width and topping them or lst will be even more so. plants that grow narrow and thin need more hight and of course light penetration is a factor on both. 4x4 could be enough with a 1000 watt
