Wow! I'm trying to move into DWC here and am setting up a test bucket.

This air pump is amazingly loud, and it's a very annoying sound. Like an old electric alarm clock -B-U-Z-Z-Z!!!

It's an "Eco Air 1 Plus," just a cheapie, 9 bucks at the $$ hydro shop.

What QUIET pumps are ya'll using? If you have experience with more than one type, could you rank them in order? I might not be able to locate the exact model you like.

I've got the dang thing stuffed in a small Igloo killer and it's still really loud. Price is no object--but this one ain't gonna fly. I can't imagine running it 24/7 inside. I wouldn't mind having something higher capacity; probably would run multiple buckets if I could. :D But if it's gotta be this loud, I won't be able to stand it. It seems louder than all my fans combined!

Help! This is annoying the wife, and she's volatile to begin with! :cursing:

Thank you, Hermie (WHAT?!?)

i use the quad manifold model from general hydroponics, but i use about 5 of these ones called aqua culture from wall mart they kick ass and are pretty quite. they have 2 outlets a piece, verry powerfull, and are about 9 dollers.my gh pump is pretty loud and doesnt move a lot of air at all u would think for spending 75 bucks on a pump it would out do a wall mart fish tank pump

OK, disrupt86--thanks. Anybody else got a suggestion? I put the sucka outside and I could hear it all over the neighborhood.

Quiet is a relative term DH so take this with a grain of salt:

I use a sunleaves 18 watt air pump to drive 3 5" disk stones in 3 DWC buckets. I hang the pump fromt the top of the tent amd use 3/8" hose on the supply side of the pump to intake in a less traveled cooler spot on my home and Mrs P hasn't complained a bit yet.

But I do have quite a bit of "white noise" from the ventilation masking it's sound too.

Wally world!
My vote?Tetra.
Whisper air pump 10-30
La Nueva Forma del Silencio!
Good lookin' and bedroom quiet.
Some airstones are "noisier" than others as well.

My first Bomba de aire was so loud that I had to build a box out of slabs of shale and line it with used rockwool just to keep it on the lanai. Was quite pleased when it went tits-up.

Lets hear it for quiet.
Weeze.
