Hi, Is there any noticeable difference in grows between using two 85w CFS or four 26w CFLs?

Depends on the dimensions of you grow op. and how many plants are in there...

Also depends on the kelvin ratings between the 85w and the 26 watters...

What is the lumen output of one 85w and one 26w?????

the wattage is not anything to be worrying yourself over. wattage only measures the power consumption of a bulb. anything that's not converted into light is converted into heat.

lumen output is what you need to worry about. so whichever combination gives you the most lumens.

I should have been clearer if both are 6500k the 85w is 4200 lumens the 26 has 1700 lumens.

The (2) 85w's will have 8400 total lumens

The (4) 26w's will have 6800 total lumens

It depends on the area of your grow how much an effect the extra 1600 lumens would have. The recommendation is at least 5,000 lumens/ft^2.

the more lumens the better! as long as the heat isn't crazy. CFLs do put off a good bit of heat.

Its more cost effective to use the 26 watt considering you can buy a box of 4 26 watt cfls for 5$. One 85w cfl is 20-25$ and many lamps wont hold because bulb is huge.

If you want to just grow one plant you can make a box for it and place multiple 26 watt cfls all around and above for insane growage. with the 2 85 you will spend more and focus your light instead of spreading it out.

Thanks. I'm terrible mathematically I was listing the lumens per bulb not the total. Using fewer bulbs is easier for my grow space since it is on my deck and I need to bring extension cords out there to supply the lights and fan. I just wanted to make sure it won't hurt the grow.
