I have read that once a seed is sprouted you shouldn't touch it with your hands. Why is this?? I have touched them before when I planted and it didn't seem to bother them. Anyhow just figure I'd ask. :D

You should wash yer hands with anti-bacterial soap, for at least 30 seconds, before handling your seeds. You should also wash all pots with either anti-bacterial soap or a bleach solution as well. The concern is,that you may have spores of damping-off fungi or root-rot fungi, hanging around..you should also wash the walls and keep the room clean and tidy. The soiless mix you use, should be fresh and sterile,as well. Dang..it all sounds kinda obsessive-compulsive..huh ? lol
Have a good one...

I agree with Torog.
You have oil and possibly bacteria on your hands. It would be best to make sure your hands are clean before messing around with your grow.

You dont do it because it can make your plants sick. Actually, the same will happen if you sneeze on them. One recomended way to germinate your seeds is to place them in a solution of Hydrogen Peroxide to kill whatver germs may have floated on them. Not to mention you can crush them just enough to hurt them and the oil on your hands kinda sucks to marijuaua.
