Hi,
this is my first post and my first grow (sorry if I have posted this incorrectly). My plants went hermie (all 4 of them). Don't know whether or not it was hermie seeds or stress. Anyway, put my plants to flower 8 weeks ago and they pollinated themselves right at the start of flowering. I have seeds everywhere except on the 4 main buds, colas. I have checked the trichomes with a100x microscope and I can see clear, cloudy and amber. My plants aren't very smelly though and they aren't very crystally.

My pal was up looking at them tonight and he supposedly knows a bit about growing; he says I have left them too long and told me to chop them. Can anybody on here tell me what I should do? Should I chop them or should I wait for more crystals to appear? I have smoked a bit of this weed and it gets me stoned but not that great. The seeds are mature and look like they could be planted.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Cheers

PS my digital camera is broke and so I had to use my phone camera -- quality could be better.

more than likely they aren't gonna finish out due to the seeds.

you can always cut the seeded buds and see if the rest of them will finish up.

Thanks for the quick replies.

I have read that seeded bud will reduce yield but not potency; can the seeds really prevent the plants from finishing? I don't want to cut them down prematurely but I don't want to burn them out either. Anybody else out there got some advice as to what should I do?

Really appreciate the first 2 replies but I'm still unsure whether or not I should harvest now.

Thanks again.

usually once a lady is pollinated the plant puts all it's energy into producing viable seeds. this is important because cannabis is an annual plant. it's whole point is to grow, reproduce and then die. the female flowers on a female are supposed to catch pollen. they start to grow larger because they are trying their best to catch that pollen.

we know nothing about your setup or anything else. there are many factors that go into finishing times and potency. trichomes just don't show up over night, they gradually start forming and continue til the plant dies. there are many theories as to the function of the trichomes, including protection against uv rays and predators. these factors wouldn't be important so important if the plant already has procured the next generation.

plants with buds that size should be covered in trichs.

no one can give you a definitve answers. sounds like you already have your mind made up and are waiting for an opinon to validate your decision.

Thanks for replying again,
I really do appreciate your time and help; I am trying to understand things. I'm not looking for anyone to validate anything though. I am new to all this and am only going on what I have read on this forum and others like it. It seems to me (by what I have read) that to some people seeded bud is a bad smoke and not very potent; but then to others seeded bud is a descent smoke with potency as high as unseeded bud. I have put a lot of time and effort into this grow and I am only trying to find out whether or not I should go with my friends advice and harvest now, or check on here and possibly go with the advice of another. I suppose I'm looking for a second opinion rather than validation.

If the crop is bad then so be it, and I'll start from scratch.

Thanks again and I hope this post finds you well.

Cheers...

Your looking at this all wrong your in a win win situation.

When the plant focuses on seed production it does decrease THC levels but with the amount you have can you complain? Harvest now and use all the plant for product. Dry well and create Hash if you want a higher grade smoke. With all your bud and trim you could make alot of good hash that no one could complain about.

Learn from mistakes my first grow was 5 males.

Use the Gumby method on your trim to make hash and just take out the seeds in the buds and blaze for months.

In the future remember its 95% all about the seed

I've gotta agree man you are in a very good win win situation. I mean those nugs look HUGE as hell, and still looks damn good for a first time. Honestly you've got alot of quantity and it will help tide you over if major drought. Even then you can make a lil money back by hooking up your good friends with some too. Im really curious to see final weight and your opinion on the quality of the smoke.

It looks like you are pretty maxed out there, hope my buds get that thick!!.

I'd dry and cure those babies, and process the leftovers into hash etc.

The buds are big, especially the main buds, and they aren't even seeded. Everything below the main buds are seeded. I've checked the trichs and there are amber, cloudy and clear, it's a bit hard to say what the percentage is of each colour but overall I'd say the majority are cloudy.

The buds aren't too smelly though and they don't look that dusty crystalised way that I see when I look at some of the pics on this forum. I've already smoked some (to see if it was ready), but I didn't get much of a stone off it. I didn't let it dry out for long either, maybe a day or two.

If I dry and cure this properly do you think it will be a different smoke to the stuff I didn't dry and cure.

Sorry if some of my questions are daft but I'm only learning.

Cheers for all the replies...

hi guys

ive not read everyones repley but the pics that u show look far to white(seeded bud gives brown hairs)to be all seeded bro.

firstly if u only got male sacks/pollin at the start then all the new bud growth started 5/6 days after it would not be polinated and will still give u smoke!

id say cut away the seeded part(7wks and the seeds should be ready) and just continue growing the main tops man they look like another 2 wks would help!

peace and love
