what's good everybody?! i have the privilege, nay the honor of testing some of Killa12345's Wrecked Homicide!
wrecked homicide is a nasty cross between a reserva privada purple wreck(M) x (purple kush x purple rhino)(F). the[/COLOR]
purple wreck is a cross of purple urkle x train wreck.
the purple kush x purple rhino goes by the name of Death By Purple! the original breeder was MR. M and then Killa was given the F1s to work the strain, which anyone who's seen his grow log (http://boards.cannabis.com/grow-log/170048-killas-back-bigger-better-oh-yeah-purple.html) can attest to!
so with the formalities out of the way, it's time to start the show!
i was gifted with 15 F1 beans (not to mention some death by purple to test out and work with.
due to space limitations, i am gonna have to run the beans in two batches.
for the first batch i dropped seven beans in a plastic baggie with a washcloth. why a washcloth you ask? well, i have no paper towels or napkins.....and toilet paper just plain ol' sucks (not to mention the govt would try to tax me for it!).
so seven beans dow.....and seven beans popped and are now in the dirt! (when i went to put them in the plastic cups that they currently reside in i had exaclty seven! pretty weird, huh?!)
this log will progress slowly as i will document the entire grow for myself, for killa and for anyone interested. not to mention, eventually a lot of you will have wrecked homicide in your mom rooms in the future!!!
i'll try to update every sunday at the latest.
i have included some pics to get the log off on the right foot. the pics for the wrecked homicide are non-eventful to say the least so i've included some of my current goings-on. (i know a lot of you skim through the words for the pics anyhow!)

pic 1- germ'd beans
pic 2- freshly planted wrecked homicide
pics 3&4- current ladies in flower
pic 5- beans i put into veg on around august 25th (or so). i think part of the problem with them is that i didn't have any perlite so it's just potting soil. oh, and the plant in the square pot is wild mountain strawberries!!!

pic 3- my favorite of the four in flower. i like the two sets of two tops! they have all been topped and LST'd.
pic 4&5- aerial view of two of the four in flower! damn, that's a lot of colas!....and there are more down below!!!

Man....Shake thanks for the nice introduction!
AND NO its all my pleasure to watch people running crosses and beans i have created.....
Also nice to see the germ rate was 100%...How long did they take to crack?
Anyways.....im really looking forward to watching this log.....YOU are the FIRST one to run this cross and a BIG good luck to ya....

they took just about 36 hours give or take. i'm pretty sure that it would have been faster, but they weren't as warm as i would have liked.
thanks for the opportunity again and thanks for the luck!

hey guys, just so there isn't any more confusion than i've apparently already started, but the picture of the big plants and of the seedlings are of my current grow and NOT of the wrecked homicide. i just know how much peeps like to see pics so i included some.
i LST'd and topped those four ladies that are in flower. they've been under 12/12 for 24 days as of today.
thanks for following along.

i guess since this is a test log i should list what equipment and supplies i will be using......and now would be as good as time as any since there isn't diddly squat going on right now.
the ladies (like the ones in the pictures above) will be vegged under 6 x 23W, 1700 lumen, 6500K CFLs. for flowering they will go under 18 x 23W, 1700 lumen, 2700K CFLs.
(the reason that i'm not mixing spectra is that i was having some re-veg issues with some of the ladies in flower. i'm not saying it was or wasn't the mixing of the spectra, i'm just trying to eliminate possibilities. the four that are in flower now will be the first batch to flower completely under the single spectrum.)
i'll be using potting mix that has minimal nutes in it. i'm not sure of the exact amount (too lazy to go look), but the nutes didn't appear to affect my current seedlings. 2/3 soil to 1/3 perlite mix.
i'll be using fox farm nutes with the solubles as well as molasses all the way through on days when the plants are watered and not fed.
think that's about it for now.

hey killa, what were the phenos you noted with the WH?
also, were the DBP beans f1? f2? what phenos did you experience with these? i see the kush and the rhino. and others?
i've noticed a few of the beans starting to poke their heads out of the ground!

Ive havent got to run the Wrecked Homicide, so you will be the first one to run them.....so i dont know the pheno status yet! The seeds are only 2 months old and a VERY.....I mean Very limited amount of people got this cross from me....so far....I mean like 3 or 4 people....
the DBP are f2 of the pk xpr, SO Far all the plants have been pretty symmetrical......all looking like the pictures i posted in my log last week! I think the f2 eliminated a lot of the variences in the f1....
On another note.....
I lost the origanal purple kush x purple rhino moms, i origanally made the seeds from.....but luckily my friend held on to both of those phenos....so if i wanna backcross some of the f2 or the cuts i can in the future....along with that im getting some 3xBluemoonshine he is running which comes from the origanal seed stock that KAYA produced.....and i have some of those seeds as well for some christmas breeding.....Can everyone say....."Christmas Presents"! LOL

OMG, I can't wait for this grow! Killa blessed you with some GOD seeds!!! I might have to invest in a purple pheno seed. F1 hybrids are the shit by the way! :D
I wanted some Gorilla Grape seeds, but them damn things is like $250 :jawdropper:
I'll get some seed along those line eventually. Still got about 5 other strains to still do. Hmmm:D
Again, I can't wait! :thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

what's good everyone? sorry for not updating this log, but there is not much to report. i'm gonna try to get the updates done at least every sunday. if there is more to report i'll post in between. as always, it's slow going in the beginning.
the Wrecked Homicide have been vegging for about 6 days so far. (they went into the ground on the 6th after being germ'd on the 4th.)
there has been one casualty. plant "E" never made it out of the ground. it germ'd fine, but for some reason, perhaps it wasn't getting sufficient water (i dug it up and the taproot was dried up). i'll take the hit for this and it's not to be blamed on Killa's beans.
all the rest are ~1" or so. (hey, i'm only vegging under 6 x 23W CFLs! can't wait to get some REAL lights!) they all have at least two sets of true leaves. several are working on the third set or more. can't wait 'til they get bigger and the different pheons start materializing. i'm gonna have fun with this.
i'll attach some pics for you visual types. they aren't much, but every 1000 mile journey starts with the first step.

here are some more pics of various things i've got going on.
pic 1&2- the four ladies currently in flower. they've been flowering for 30 days as of today. they are under 18 x 23W CFLs. so i'm sure that's why they are lagging.
i know i've posted about the 40/60 phenomenon before. well i noticed on day 24 exactly that the "stretch" was over. i'm not saying they are done growing, but it was amazing to be able to see that stretch finish. pretty cool indeed.
pic 3- a random close up that i liked.
pic 4- the aerogarden project. got three in there. the one in the front middle is lagging behind so i LST'd the other two. seem to be doing quite nice. i plan on flowering them here in the next couple of days.
pic 5- various other plants that i'm growing at the moment.
-on the aerogarden in the small pot is a clone i took of some wild strawberries, from colorado.
-directly behind that is a ponderosa pine that i got while in colorado.
-just in front of that, in the chuck e. cheese cup and in the small, tan planter are asiatic lilies that i saved from a plant i bought my wife that the cats chewed up.
-in the clear, plastic cup is bamboo that was given to my grandmother by me about 15 years ago or so. i got it back after she passed and the cats got to that too (while we were in colorado, probably at the same time i was getting the pine, lol). once piece is rooted and the small piece is close i think.
-in the big, red pot is a miniature rose plant that the cats also got too (god damned cats! they've since learned their lessons!), including up-rooting it, but it still keeps on tickin......and blooming.
-behind the roses are three avocado pits that i'm trying to start. yes, i've tried the tootpicks and cup of water method. didn't do squat. my wife's grandma got one to sprout this way so i decided to try it. they have roots, i've checked.
-and finally, in the square pot in front of that is the wild strawberry mother plant. she was mostly dead with maybe one leaf. it's made a glorious comeback.
well know that you are probably bored to death thanks for stopping by!

What up shake.....the babies look good.....sorry for the lost one but as the saying goes " only the strong will survive!".....your other plants look good as well.....one suggestion though.....with the CFL's you should try to keep the plant height to a minimum.....I know you are running a lot of them but the penatration(lol) of the light only goes so far especially those 23W which are the same i use.....i would suggest no taller than 14"....ive been noticing the difference in this grow the the various plant heights that im currently running...Keep up the fantastic work bro!

as i was watering the subjects today i took a few notes.
all are showing similar growth.
"B" & "G" are leading the way. they are starting their third set of true leaves.
"A" 's leaves are growing to the side. not sure about this.
"A", "B" & "G" are all showing purple on the bottom of their leaves.
i know it's not much but since i'm the first one to run these beans i'm trying to keep this as scientific as possible and provide as much information as i can. one day these beans will be all over! (if it's Killa's wish of course!)

bro, PH pen and medium are pennies $50 at most.....bite the bullet and get yourself the tool needed......my bestfriend just got a ph pen and cant believe his plants are looking as good as they are. he constantly wondered why his plants always had problems.....we would always run the same cuts with a major difference in quality......not last time....which is why im running the WW!
I just found a place that sells perlite and vermiculite at $7 for 4 cu ft., but the place is 45 miles away! Shit! i kinda have to be in that neighborhood at least once a monthl, so i buy like 6 bags when i go..it took me like 6 months to find a new vendor and trust me....I WORK IN THE FIELD.. I used to pay $12 a bag at HD but none of them seem to be carrying the large bags anymore! At least in the stores
look for agriculture supply stores.....large ones....it might be very hard to find these in your area....you might have to see if HD can order it for you....ive seen the on the net but at like 25 a bag which i think is a rip off!
ps.....hydro is the shit....any type of hydro whether it be passive or active will blow any soil grow out of the water! once you go hydro you will never go back!

i feel ya Killa. and i know what you are saying is true. but when you are un-employed and so is your wife (recently got laid off) every penny counts. i'm behind on my rent and my electric. so while i know $50 bucks ain't shit, at the moment it's a lot of dough.
i'm still looking for cheap bags of perlite/verm. the cheapest i've found so far is $20 for one and $30 for the other for 4 cu ft bags. at the local hydro store (not that i would ever buy them from there) they are both $40/each. so i am currently looking for a supply store.
and i promise, as soon as the current ladies are out of flower i WILL be getting a pH pen and bags of medium.
i've also got a buddy that is supposed to be moving this way at the end of the month or so. so i might also be coming into a better light and a tent.
i'm doing the best that i can do at the moment. i appreciate the tips and the love.

Hi Shake.
I am kind of new around here posting, but I must say this is a very exciting grow and strain. I will be watching with great expectations. A man of your reputation has the bar set a bit higher I think. ---the pressure is on :)
Thank you so much for all of your contibutions. From this thread I am learning more and more that it takes all of the genetics, but without the experience the genetics are without.
Can you still expound a bit more on climate and the results that come to a purple strain from manipulating climate?
Best regards.

thanks for the kind words OV!
as far as the climate, it's been about 78-85F in the veg box. it was colder for a few days, but it was rainy weather. i did have the windows open, but i think the humidity affected the plants.
i'll have an update soon. there is just not a bunch to report as of yet. i'm trying to get them back up and healthy. plus i'm moving tomorrow......

sorry I am late from the show shake, took a little time off from the boards. Glad to see things are moving along ... i'm a huge fan of killas work and I am currently lucky enough to be running some of his PR x PK. I've only popped a few but so far they are looking great ... about 10 days old. Wouldn't mind a mom and a dad :D
Good luck with the move, I'm expecting great things from the cross you are running!

Don't know how I missed this thread but will watch closely. Nice grow using the CFL's.
I just dusted two small buds of an Afghani x LowRyder f1 cross with male pollen from a Purple Urkle x Trainwreck x Romulan (got all males). Know of one Cali grower who ran the PUxTWxRom and it looks devine, probably two weeks from harvest so no smoke report yet. Pink rosy pistils really sweet looking smoke with great trich's.
The male had purple streaks up the main stalk.

what's good everybody? sorry about the lack of update. hectic life lately. moving, roomates etc etc.
where to start, where to start.........
how about with, shake ya head is finally in the big leagues! i got a 400W MH from a buddy. i managed to get a bulb and get it mounted in it's temporary home in the closet. man my wife hates that!!! i just need some more funds to retrofit the attic to suit my needs.
speaking of attics, has anyone grown in one? i know panda plastic is 6 or 7 mils thick. and i know that it won't insulate extremely well, but if i were to build rooms with the panda plastic and run A/C to them would it hold it in well? any ideas or thoughts?
i'm totally re-vamping everything after picking up the MH. my meter probe should be here soon. then it's hempy's and a perpetual harvest!
on the WH
, not a lot is going on. they've been vegging for about 41 days. they went through a move and some other stressful events so some are a little weird. it could have been the MG soil.
are they sensitive to nutes killa?
the one, "E" i believe, died. i had put them into flower after moving. not the best idea, but i was frustrated and unsure where to proceed with this batch. since then i've got one confirmed female, "G", and two males (not sure of the letter designations at the moment), who have been moved to a breeding box (on 18/6 atm).
i put the rest of the bunch back into veg. a few were tall and lanky so i LSTd them. one broke off a top so i made it a clone. it's looking very healthy after drooping for a bit after being put in the dirt.
so let's recap because i'm sure i confused most of you guys and myself. lol.
currently, in flower, there is the 4 clones that are getting ready to finish (hopefully sometime really soon!), 3 bagseed that are looking amazing if i don't say so myself. they have been on 12/12 for 30 days and have nice, tight buds starting with trichs popping up left and right. and 1 WH ("G"), that i'm gonna let finish because i'm so freaking excited to see her in all her glory!
so to recap the recap:
4x dank bagseed clones, smells like grapefruit gasoline! they are so top-heavy they barely can stand up!
3x popcorn bagseed, 2x short and stout, 1x taller. haven't gotten a good nose full yet.
1x WH. just starting to show pistils.
1x a donated lady, i call her BB. she has an amazing smell. i'll have to get another wiff to describe it. it's very aromatic and powerful though. more on how i got this lady......
a buddy of a buddy had two plants that he wanted to get rid of. i took them. they were both outside and not taken care of well. they smell amazing though. one had a fire ant bed in it. it was the worse of the tow. so i chopped it up for clones, took 5 of them. quick dried the rest. that was lady BA.
BB looked much better. so i re-potted her and placed her in the flower room.
i plan on re-vegging her for clones after she's done.
the seeds "came from a bag of 'dro" is all i know.
those are all under the 400W MH. it is held vertically at the moment. the bulb screws into the ballast. don't have a reflector on it yet. i'm gonna get a makeshift one done today with a real one to follow in the future.
i'm so excited to see what a difference this bulb makes!!!!
i have no experience with HID. will the bulb being vertical work for the time being. i mean i know it will work, but will it work well?
should i have it closer to the plants? by closer i mean, lower, not so far above?
the temps seem to stay about 83F or so. it's just the end of a long, walk-in closet. i have the old box chopped up, in a make shift type wall. got some more corrugated to fix this as well. there is an oscillating fan as well as a stationary fan in there. luckily, the temps have been very low around here.
i also got a veg box running too.
her contents are as follows:
1x WH (accidental) clone.
5x BA
2x WH that just got put back into veg. pretty sure they are ladies.
and i also have a breeding box going. i've got two WH males that are just waiting to do the dirty dirty with.
i might have to collect some pollen though. or will they be fine in there and keep producing flowers? either way, i'll collect some pollen.
i wish i had some time to get some beans out of the ladies that are getting ready to harvest. how long does it take for beans to mature? at least 3 weeks right? closer to 6?
so i think that's about it for the time being. of course i've got some pics for y'all too. hopefully they will make your eyes drool to help wet them from reading this novel. sorry. just had a lot to say.
i'll be better about updating now. promise

This run im running:
every feeding
1 tsp of Grow Big Hydro
1/2 tsp of Tiger Bloom
1 tbsn. of big Bloom

what's good everyone? got an update right quick. (see i told you that i was really gonna try to be better at keeping this log!)
everything still stands as before.
since last time though, we've got solid confirmation on all but one of the WH beans.
"A", "D" & "G" are all confirmed females. the clone that's in veg came off of "D" i believe.
"B" & "F" are both confirmed males. they both are doing fine off to the side in the breeding box (not much as of now, still in the works).
"G" is still in flower, she's starting to throw pistils left and right.
"A" & "D" are still in veg. i've LST'd (sorta just bent them over so far) because they stretched pretty bad. this was my fault with everything going on and whatnot. this is for the males too.
all of the clones from the B.A. didn't make it. no big surprise here as the plant was in pretty bad shape when i got it. B.B. was the better looking (and smelling, trich having plant) anyhow. she's still in flower.
i also started germing on 10/17:
1x B.A. that i found while taking clones. didn't germ though.
2x D.B.P.. out of these one germ'd.
4x TC (tyberius corn, named after who gave me the seeds). just did these for fun. i think most of these germ'd, but i only kept 3.
yesterday, after realizing i've finally got all i need for hempy's i decided to drop some more beans. this time i used jiffy pellets.
so on 10/20 i started:
1x OG kush fem'd
1x dinafem white widow fem'd
1x g13 labs diesel fem'd
1x WH
1x DBP (death by purple)
those will be going into hempy's! yea, about time!
now i need to figure out what to do with my water. it has a pH of 8.18 (not too bad) and about 575 PPM (yikes). i guess it's bottled water for a bit. any other ideas?
i modified the previous monster of a light that i used in flower. i removed 4 bulbs from it and added two fans. air cooled baby! ok, they don't do much, but i had them laying around. hopefully they do something. lol.
i'm now using this light for veg.
i'll be using CFLs for the breeding box for now. i've got plans for some t-5s and stuff in the future.
i think that about sums it up for now. hope all is well with all of you!

Shake,
I had to sort through this sort of stuff before starting DWC, but my water is not as hard as yours.
Do you use a 3 part nutrient system like General Hydronics?
Here's a link to a thread about water chemistry. It may help you do your research and find a solution. It definitely helped me - my room is pretty well dialed in now.

i'm using the fox farm lineup, including the solubles. i'm gonna order another quart of the big bloom which will hopefully carry me through the rest of the others.

yo shake are sure your PPM meter is calibrated? on my meter it says 500 ppm is the "max EPA ppm". I assume you are on well water but 550 is pretty damn high and probably not that healthy for even you.
also, i run everything almost the same as killa ... and yes, the small end of the stick is 1/4 tspn.

i'm still alive and kicking everyone. and everything seems to be kicking my ass at the moment.
i've got a bunch of stuff going. i've chopped the four biggest ladies. i know have three that are gonna get chopped next. i have 5x killas WH that are in soil. 1x is a male for breeding. i killed off the other as it wasn't as good looking as the keeper.
of the four females, one is flowering ( i might make a few seeds off of this one). she's not very big (and she stetched in veg which was completely my fault).
3x of the WH are looking crazy. i don't think it's anything that i'm doing as several of them look fine and all my others plants are fine. i'm thinking it could be since they are F1s? and i'm not knocking killas work at all! pics are to follow.
behind them i've got started some hempys. i've got six going so far.

1x DBP
1x WH (funny looking)

that was in the back of a big ass closet. i just used some cardboard to block the ladies and to reflect light. i would say that it was about 3' x 4' or so in the closet. they are now in a 4' x 4' tent, thanks irydyum!
i put the ladies in veg under the MH while it's on and then drop them under a shit-load of CFLs when the flowering chamber goes dark.
i'll get some new pics up as soon as i can.
thanks for tuning in!
good growing!

Always a pleasure. I just noticed for the first time that your quote is from the "Deceleration of Independence". Either that is very witty, or a fantasticly ironic typo.
Fantastic baked goods btw. They were excellent. :eat:

cool. i appreciate the info killa. i'm glad it's not me. they definitley don't looke like they are snapping out of it. should be interesting to see though. if they don't do much i guess i can chop them for hash or something?
the one that's been in flower for a month or so smells very lemony to me. did you run across that? what all phenos did you notice?

That lemon smell must be coming from the Purple Wreck Side.....Never ran the beans but i know what the parents looked and smelt like.....seems like the PW is pretty dominate in this cross....
Now ive seen the PW mutants come out, the lemon smell, im probably gonna bet they turn purple but not like my pics....probably taking after its dad...You might get a yeilder considering the father was huge...I betting it wont turn purple till around day 45 and you will start to see it on the bottom of the plant and will work its way up during flush! Just my thoughts? Glad to see someone testing these.....I think that lemon smell will turn into a nasty smelling lemon diesal plant likes its PW side!
Thanks for the updates shake....how far are they along in flowering?

i guess so. i'm not sure what there deal is. neither of the males was mutant. all but 2 of the females was (out of the beans i popped, still got some left). they seem to stress easy. the good looking female and the one clone i have are both throwing three finger leaves.
on the other hand, the trichs are walking down the fans!
Now ive seen the PW mutants come out, the lemon smell, im probably gonna bet they turn purple but not like my pics....probably taking after its dad...You might get a yeilder considering the father was huge...I betting it wont turn purple till around day 45 and you will start to see it on the bottom of the plant and will work its way up during flush! the plants are very vigorous. they are going to be bushes. and they seemed to love being slightly LSTd. just funky looking as all hell. they are popping pistils out left and right.
Thanks for the updates shake....how far are they along in flowering?
i've got one female that is about 31 days or so. she stretched in veg (my fault) and i probably put her in flower a bit too early. she's the lemon smelling lady. i hit her with a bit of pollen from the male to see what happens.
i've got two mutant females that have only been in flower for a couple weeks at most. and then i still have one i'm keeping as the mom. she's a little stressed. i'm working on that. the clone is in a hempy and also throwing 3-bladed leaves.
i'll get some more pics and update as i can! again, i appreciate all the love!

thats weird about the males being fine and all the Females coming out mutant....and your right...they do stress incredibily easy but you will find that with most purple strain....including Reserva Privada Purple Wreck...ive seen hermies with some of the power outages here and so forth...but i find that most purple strains hate high PPM and stressful growing conditions
About topping the PW....DOnt Top after the 5 day of flowering....the tops wont strectch enough to create two seperate cola....learned by mistake..
Here is what the Male in the cross was....see it started as a mutant!
http://i281.photobucket.com/albums/kk229/killa12345_photos/PK%20X%20PR/mutantmale.jpg
This is what it looked like at about 10th day of veg...
http://i281.photobucket.com/albums/kk229/killa12345_photos/PK%20X%20PR/DSC02636-1.jpg
It was the only legit male i had for the cross.....This is why i dont just go out and try to charge for seeds or give a bunch of testers away because you never know if the cross is going to be better or worse than the parents...in this case, i think im gonna have to test some more myself. and give out more soon....after you finish shake, if you want more of the pk x pr f2 which is much more stable id be happy to abidge for ya testing....thanks bro

i would love to test for you killa! always. and i'll keep the log going. i'm trying to do as much research as i can.
i've been feeding the hempy clone of the WH your formula. i will start being extra nice to her and see what happens. i just topped pretty much everything yesterday, but they all were in veg.
i hear ya 100% on the male for the cross. on that note though, i must say, the one male that i do have is BAD ASS! there are tons of trichs on the flowers. i mean, visable with the naked eye, sparkling like diamond trichs! it's insane!
if i cross two siblings is that still considered an F1 or what?
thanks for all the info. i'll keep the testing going. i also received some calmag+ from irydyum so we'll see if that helps. i was using molasses to bump up my RO water to about 235PPM from 30 or so.
agian, i'll stay updated and get some pics of those male trichs!!!

just gonna throw up a quick update.
things are moving. the plants are looking okay. i did have a problem, but i think i remedied it. i think it might have been a calcium deficiency, but i'm not sure about that. i was using molasses with RO water and the plants didn't seem to be able to get the calcium. since i've started using calmag+ and it appears to be clearing up. i'll report more about this. also look for a study about molasses coming soon.....
currenlty i'm waiting on more perlite/vermiculite and a heating pad so i can take some clones.
i will get some pics up, but this damn internet cafe upload speed is horrible. sorry for being such a shitty board member.

What you mean? maybe Mg in the molasses lock out the Ca?
I use molasses @ 2 tbs/gallon with no nothing bad. Maybe you jus spill a little on this leaf?

i haven't spilled any on the leaves. i am using reverse osmosis water that has a pH of about 7.2 and 32 PPM. i was using the molasses to bump the PPM to about 235 with 1 tsp. i am running hempys. i am assuming that the molasses wasn't being uptaken by the plant. perhaps the microbes in soil need to break it down for it to be used. it's not chelated. i have since started using calmag+ and the problem seems to have cleared up. it was happening to all of my plants, including a few of the soil ones?
i suppose your theory is as good as mine though shove. it also could have been a problem with my wandering pH pen. all the new growth appears fine though.

Just my two cents but 7.2 seems abit high... most pH in hempy i've read about are running between 5.8-6.2
Hope things clear up for you and things go great

Is that 7.2 for just the RO water or your nute mixture! either way both are too high! like deleafer said the range is 5.8-6.2 anything higher and your gonna run into a lot of nute lockout problems.....seems like your already experiencing that as well....This should be ran like passive hydro or hydro.....soil ph ranges will cause all types of problems....
I never seen ro water with a ph higher than 6.1 in my life.....you might wanna calibrate the meter shake!
Maybe you could add a bit more info shake! Also. you running 50/50 perlite/vermiculite might also be causing problems....with not enough water retention! I never ran anything or seen anything saying 50/50 is a good mixture!

7.2 is the pH of the water before anything is done to it. i get it from one of those machines that dispense water at the grocery store and whatnot.
i might have ran my nutes at too low of a pH a couple of time as my meter was a little out of calibration, but since, i know it's calibrated to two points.
i adjust my nute mix to a ph of 6.0 or so, after they are added of course. i know hempys are a hydro system and should be treated as such. give your boy a little credit!
the 50/50 mix was just a starting point as i have read all kinds of ratios. killa you like the 4:1 (perl/verm) if i'm not mistaken. jrosek from IC and that thread you pointed me to likes 60/40 (perl/verm) if i'm not mistaken. so it was merely a starting point.
like is said, i dont' have to water them every two to three days. i can go a week or so between watering them. i've always just lifted them to see if they need water.
i have since recovered from the nute lockout/pH/molasses problems. the plants are looking totally healthy. i will get some new pics up tonight or tomorrow.
i do appreciate all the help and it sucks i can't get back to you guys sooner.
i'll be back later.

what's going on MC? glad to see you back on the boards! i hope all is well with you and yours.
the reason i put the WH into soil is because i started the seeds and put them into hempys and they got root bound. i always heard one gallon was the sweet spot so that's what i started them in. from my experience one gallon is the way to go if you want to put a clone in the bucket and start flowering them. if you plan on vegging for any extended period of time i would put them into bigger buckets. i ran into a whole slew of problems with the hempys, most notably my erratic pH meter. (i do have a new meter!) so i will be playing with hempys again, just had to get everything right to do so.
learn from my mistakes my friend! good to see you again.
good growing!

I actually sat down and read through your logs this morning and answered my own question. I do appreciate your experiments and input. As all of us in this community share our results I think we all end up benefiting.
I'm glad you are still going to play with hempy buckets. Mrs. McT and I much preferred them over our soil grow and will use them again for our new grow. I doubt we (our community) will ever find or agree on a "perfect" method for growing but the journey sure is a lot of fun.
Your point on bucket size for "moms" makes sense. Something we'll have to take into consideration.
FWIW, we went with the 4:1 ratio of perlite to vermiculite that was recommended to us. After the harvest we pulled the mix out to see what the root situation was. There were lots of roots, especially in the reservior area but not to the point of being rootbound.
later.....

i appreciate the input about the hempy's as well. i'll be sure to post a log when i jump back in.....which may be sooner than you (or i) think!
