View Full Version : QF 5.7?! I just used 4.2, am I still ok?

Hey everyone, I just had a drug test for a job (taken at Labcorp) today, and I bought some Quick Fix at my local smoke shop yesterday for it. I never used QF before and I could have sworn that 4.2 was the latest version, but I guess I was wrong. I checked the directions label and my batch ended in 08, which I guess clears the ones that were recalled (The ones ending in 07). But now I'm still getting all paranoid. What's the difference between 5.7 an 4.2?! Are they gonna be able to detect that it's synthetic? Also, how is it unisex? I mean, would it show up positive/negative for being both male and female and automatically show that it's fake? And what's this about it going bad by being exposed to direct sunlight? I mean, I took it out of the box outside and it got hit by sunlight; is that bad?

So do I have anything to worry about? Thanks for any input you can give!

What's the difference between 5.7 an 4.2?! Are they gonna be able to detect that it's synthetic? Nope. As long as its been stored properly, it wont degrade to the point where it'll be detected as a "non-human" sample.

Also, how is it unisex? I mean, would it show up positive/negative for being both male and female and automatically show that it's fake? Gender is irrelevant in the world of drug testing. Drug testing devices are unisex - they have no ability to determine who the sample came from. Drug testing is not CSI like the ill-informed fear mongers like to make it out to be.

And what's this about it going bad by being exposed to direct sunlight? I mean, I took it out of the box outside and it got hit by sunlight; is that bad?
According to Spectrum Labs, any exposure to direct sunlight should be avoided. What you shouldve done was run your own validity test on it to make sure there was no dissipitation of the constituents (creatinine, specific gravity, pH). If there was dissipitation, the bottle shouldve been sent back to Spectrum for a replacement.

Well that's good to know that 4.2 is still good. But shit, so even if I had it out for less than a minute in sunlight, it could be comprised? I didn't have any testers for all that other stuff, so I just trusted that it was all at the right levels. What does sunlight do to it? Can anyone conform it still working if only in a little bit of sunlight? I mean, I took it out of the box to check it out while I was in the car, so it was only in the sun for like less than a minute before I put it back in. I think I might be being paranoid, but I really don't want this to fail :(

What does sunlight do to it? The closing paragraph in post #2 already answers these questions, as well as post #9 in this thread:

This is ridiculous. The very mere exposure to sunlight causes this to instantly go bad? I had no way of knowing this was such a major problem. There should have been a clear warning label on the box that shouldv'e said along the lines of "DO NOT OPEN CONTENTS OUTSIDE OR UNDER DIRECT LIGHT". Spectrum Labs could have at least put a tint on the bottle to block out any harmful sunlight that would cause this to go bad. I did some research on QF before I used it, I didn't see much on this sunlight issue, only that it shouldn't be kept under light (Which really implies to not store it in sunlight for a period of time, which is something you shouldn't do with allot of things anyway). I mean, I would really like to know just how much sunlight is enough to cause the components to break down and if they breakdown instantly or over a period of time (Like if exposed to brief sunlight, do the components break down within a few minutes, or say a few months).

I'm sure no one really knows the answers to that, and that I might be over reacting, but if I failed this test just because it touched some sunlight for brief moment of less than a minute, then I can hardly recommend this product to anyone, not when it has such a terrible flaw that has no obvious warning to. I mean, what if the lab people keep my QF urine next to a window or something (Which I actually remember there being a window next to the samples when I went)? Then it doesn't matter how well you kept it in the dark, and I guess labs could even use that to detect synthetic urine (Not sure if sunlight has the same effect on real urine).

Well, I won't hear back from them till after labor day, so we'll see. Wish me luck!

Well I just got word from my friend (That works at the place I'm applying to) and he said that I passed the drug test. I wish I could be more psyched, but then he told me that I failed the background check (Which is totally unrelated to this, and is very odd seeings as how I had my criminal record expunged).

Well here's news to all you QF users, it still works and worked great. Sorry for being such a prude, but my life kinda depended on getting this job... :(
