how would this set up work? im looking at getting 1000 watt hps grow light for flowering, 125 watt compact flourescent for veg and they will each be in a 6ft tall 2 1/2 ft deep 3ft wide space.
wondering if the 1000 watt is too much for the small space, but would like to get the big light so i can use it in a bigger space in the future.
also how many plants can fit in such a small place? could i get 2 flowering at a time?
thanks

bumpnjump420, why do you have two threads, in the same sub-forum, saying essentially the same thing, eight minutes apart? you can edit a post for up to 10 minutes after it's posted. if you catch it too late, you can just post again in the same thread.
let's try to keep it to one thread next time.
as far as your question goes....a 1000W can be used in that light if you have adequate ventilation. perhaps a cool tube.
the plant question depends on what you are trying to accomplish. are you trying to grow monsters? SOG? or what?

sorry, didnt mean to make 2 threads and didnt know how to delete one.
This will be my first time growing and im just trying to make the most of the small space i have, so i just want to do whatever will work best, however that may be.
you say a 1000W can be used in that light if you have adequate ventilation
do you mean 1000w can be used in that space?
what do you mean SOG?

im no expert, but im pretty sure you can put that light in that space, but as he said above you'll need proper ventilation as that light will get reallllyyy hottt.
if you only wanted to grow two plants in there you could grow huge plants, or you can a bunch of smaller ones, this is really up to you.

yes, i meant in that space. lol. my bad. see what good meds will do to you!?
the ideal temp for cannabis during "daylight" hours is 78F. a 1000W HPS puts out a good deal of heat in any size space, much less 7.5 sq ft. i'm not saying you can't do it, i'm merely reminding you that the light is only one part of the equation, and that cooling is almost as important and should be planned for before your run out and drop your money on the light.
SOG is Sea Of Green. it's a perpetual harvest system/style of growing with many small plants, usually clones, that are put into flower as soon as they are rooted.....as opposed to a couple of big plants.

what size light would you recommend for flowering in that size space?
is the 125 watt a good size for the veg?
how many plants would be optimal to have flowering at once in the small space? i plan to use a SOG type of technique.
thanks a ton for all the help

if you want serious results, a 400W HPS is the least i would go for. you can use a 600W or 1000W. go bigger if you do plan to upgrade the space later....but don't go bigger than your budget will allow for ventilation. 600W might be the sweet spot.
is the 125 watt a good size for the veg?
it's a 125W CFL? is it actually consume 125W or is that it's incandescent equivalent? if it does actually use 125W then it should be fine, possibly overkill for starting clones, depending on how many you have. you'll want to read up on cloning if you are going to go with a SOG.

do you want to go soil or hydro? either way, you can make a say, 4' x 4' flowering chamber and then use the other for storage and the clones. with that size of flowering chamber you can get enough plants to keep your harvest perpetual.
now go and read all that you can!
you're welcome for the help.

what would be the best way to get enough ventilation for the 1000 or the 600 in my space? about what might it cost? it will be in a closed off section of a closet.
i plan to start with soil, then maybe upgrade later on
also , you said make a 4x4 flowering chamber, but i only have 2.5x3. what difference will that make?
im also still unclear as to how many plants i can have going? both in veg and flower?

okay, so decide how you want to break up your room. you obviously want more space for flower.
start looking at fans. they have them on the same sites that you can buy lights on. you want the air to be exchanged in your room at least once every five minutes, preferably every minute or two. so find the cubic footage of your area. fans are rated in CFM or Cubic Feet per Minute. go a little bigger than what you actually need.
if smell is gonna be an issue look into a carbon filter/scrubber. either homemade or otherwise.
the number of plants is gonna depend on what you decide to do. you need clones for a SOG, but they don't take up too much room. in your flower area you need room for two to four seperate batches, depending on how long you want between harvests.
