wow j how articulate of you. and d i've never seen hollywood tonight so couldn't really comment. i would tend to agree that twitter is lame! i wouldn't follow stars cos that's just bs but real people can be interesting if you like psychology of humans as a species. which i do. an under normal circumstances i probably wouldn't bother with twitter but right now im a loser with no one to talk to and vent to!

I used to be absolutely opposed to twitter in every sense, but lately I have sort of gotten in to it.. It is actually is a fairly efficient way of spreading news and information quickly.

Okay, so the real reason I started using it was to follow the hot chick who does the weather on my local news station, but that is besides the point! Follow me @G1ANT

How about no one follows anyone's life and just does their own thing.. If you're really that bored go smoke more weed. Or get a hobby. Build something. Help humanity. Why the fuck do you need to follow someones every action? That's what's wrong with society today.. everyone is too concerned with everyone else's business that they don't have enough time to take care of themselves. It's pathetic. Is that articulate enough?

Articulate? Yes, but it was overall incorrect and filled with fallacies..

Twitter was not created so pre-tweens could update their "homies" on their every move. It is actually a very powerful social media site and a means of spreading news and current events very quickly and efficiently. Twitter was blowing up with news about MJ's death minutes before any reputable news source had picked up on it. Feel an earthquake? Check twitter, because people will be bitching about it from all over before the news room even picks up their cameras. Follow the right people and you will know about MMJ raids going on long before ASA can put it online.

Yes, twitter is a victim of its own success. It has been forever marred by pre-pubescent little girls tweeting that they noticed a little blood on their panties, however that does not mean it doesnt serve its intended purpose. If posts are properly tagged you can find a great deal of real information crammed in to 140 character posts.

Like if it were actually a very important, world-changing thing... if one stops and thinks, if the media hadnt made such fuss about his death, would it actually change anything in most people's lifes (besides his familiars, friends and employess of course)? Im pretty sure not. Many (if not most) past singers die and many people doesnt even know, or when know doesnt give too much importance to this... after all, everybody dies in the end.

But, media needs to keep people (or should i say sheep) busy with small and harmless informations, so they have not time to think by themselves and start to be a trouble for the system... so i agree completly with what JohhnyZ said:

everyone is too concerned with everyone else's business that they don't have enough time to take care of themselves. It's pathetic.

And to the OP: Im completly opposed to the very essence of twitter. I dont want anybody know what im doing. In fact, i would love to be actually invisible. And i also dont want to know what people are doing. If theyre doing a such important thing that they need to tell me, just call me.

Yet, i know how boring is to have nobody to talk with, and nothing interesting to see on internet... so even if i dislike twitter and such, i understand how you feels. Have you ever looked at uncyclopedia.org (http://www.uncyclopedia.org)?

Case in point: I dont know how big this has been outside of california, but out here everyone has been following the murder of model Jasmine Fiore (presumably by her husband Ryan Jenkins). Twitter has been blowing up with news about Ryan Jenkins being charged with murder for the past 30 mins, however there is no mention of it on any major news site as of yet. TMZ just posted the story about 15 mins ago. Is this going to change my life? No, but it didnt cost anything and it is most certainly an effective means of spreading information.

Look, thats great.. If you dont like twitter, you dont have to use it. Like I said before, nobody gives a shit about your life. Nobody here (or anywhere else) is telling you that you need to sign up and begin using it as your personal diary as some people do. The idea behind twitter is not to post every minute detail of your everyday life. It is to facilitate the rapid spread of relevant information.

Posting your twitter account here is almost like posting your email in the posts and that's against the rules.

I haved used twitter 3 times, to try to keep people updated about outages on the site. Other than that it blows.
