First of all, this is my first post and this forum is amazing. Glad to finally contribute something here.

I have a cigarette hitter, that I use occasionally, and it got clogged tonight and I couldn't unclog it. So, i heated it up and stuck a mechanical pencil inside to push what ever it was to the bottom.

Is that tar??? I always thought weed was pure and relaxing. I grew up in south America :rastasmoke: and I would have never believed this was in my pipe.

That's resin. It's normal. It happens as a result of burning the weed. You can save the resin and smoke it, it wil still get you high.

If you run low/out - it's a great way to recycle your weed

harvest that "black gold" (as we call it), roll it in a ball, and smoke that...different kind of high

All that black stuff is is condensed chemicals that were burnt up and stuck on the sides of your pipe. It DOES have a high THC content, but it also has a HIGH concentration of all the bad shit! Don't smoke that, it is VERY bad for you

Also, if you happen to be a grower who throws their shake away, DON'T!!! Buy a kief box (Large square with taught metal mesh for sifting) and scrape the trichomes off of your trimmed plant material!!! When you throw away your shake, you lose up to 30% of your plants overall trichomes!!!

me and my buddy use pinchies and we have to clean them everyday otherwise they get real wet and nasty inside

the best thing to use to clean them is maybe a six-inch piece of a weed-whip cord/blade plastic thing (the part that whips the weeds)

I wouldn't go that far. When you smoke a pipe you are inhaling the very same compounds. It's sort of like smoking a roach joint. I don't know if it makes a difference that both the compounds and the THC is concentrated in pipe residue. It takes less of the concentrate to get high.

Anyone that says resin is bad for you, and they wouldn't smoke it had better have cigarette filters on their joints, or inline on their pipes, because if not you are being hypocritical.
No mater how you smoke it you are getting the compounds that make resin like tar, and we have learned by years of research, and statistics from the tobacco industry that filtered cigarettes reduce tar to a much more safe level, and is worth the loss of flavors, and strength. Even the tobacco companies agree, and they have no problem marketing filtered cigarettes.
So for those of you talking about how nasty, and dangerous smoking resin is, put a filter in it.

It would seem to be a desparate thing to do. We used to clean our pipes in everyclear and then a friend would always want to drink it. Only smoked that tar once when we were young and immortal. Nasty stuff.

One question ? If you put it in a vaporizer would that nasty tar burn away or are you getting it there too ?

Marijuana does not cause cancer and there are studies that show the THC does help fight cancer. However, all the carcinogens that you inhale when smoking (unless vapor) can cause cancer.

Agreed, I clean out my bong and have a pretty good chunk of resin usually...i just throw it in there and smoke it. its condensed and settled smoke. The downside is that u burn it twice with your flame.
