Often I wondered why Hemp is illegal....it can be used to make so many organic products.... trees/forests could be spared.....heres what I have found:hippy:

why is cannabus illegal= William Randolph Hearst (Citizen Kane) and the Hearst Paper Manufacturing Division of Kimberly Clark owned vast acreage of timberlands. The Hearst Company supplied most paper products. Patty Hearst's grandfather, a destroyer of nature for his own personal profit, stood to lose billions because of hemp. In 1937, Dupont patented the processes to make plastics from oil and coal. Dupont's Annual Report urged stockholders to invest in its new petrochemical division. Synthetics such as plastics, cellophane, celluloid, methanol, nylon, rayon, Dacron, etc., could now be made from oil. Natural hemp industrialization would have ruined over 80% of Dupont's business.

Andrew Mellon became Hoover's Secretary of the Treasury and Dupont's primary investor. He appointed his future nephew-in-law, Harry J. Anslinger, to head the Federal Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs. Secret meetings were held by these financial tycoons. Hemp was declared dangerous and a threat to their billion dollar enterprises. For their dynasties to remain intact, hemp had to go. These men took an obscure Mexican slang word: 'marihuana' and pushed it into the consciousness of America. Need we say more peace out

Sooooo many problems can be linked to this it's sickening. I heard audio of that account you cited once upon a time. It was someone on a rant, if I can figure out who it was, or where the audio can be found at, I'll try to put it up.

they grew hemp along the fence rows ...about 10 feet out...so as to not interfere with normal crops.

.... as tall as the corn, and twice as thick...as far as the eye could see...:s4:

I like seeing this kind of info, but to be honest it's nothing most of us here don't already know, and this is essentially preaching to the choir.
Don't get me wrong I'm not saying to stop posting this type of stuff, but have you posted this in other, perhaps less MJ friendly, forums?
There's no need to convince us of the truth. It's the people who still believe the reefer madness hype that need to see this type of info.
Try to be open about hemp with people in all walks of life. For example: I was at a busstop on my way to work and the conversation I was having turned to drugs, one guys accused me of being one of the nuts who want to legalise all drugs (I am one of those nuts, legalization and regulation is the answer :D) I said that I would be happy to leave all drugs illegal if we could just legalise hemp. That statement turned the conversation to hemp, and I was suprised at how little these people knew about hemp. Everyone was kinda blown away when I told them about how Henry Ford's original design for the model-T included a body made from hemp plastic, and, as mentioned earlier, that the government encouraged the cultivation of hemp for the WW2 effort.
It might not be easy for everyone to talk about weed in public, but if the conversation starts with hemp it's usually far more accepted.
Go easy, everyone, and remember to keep dropping those knowlege bombs when you can.

a lot of it nowadays has to do with cotton. anybody involved with cotton doesn't want us using hemp. something made from hemp (clothes, a bag etc) will basically last forever whereas with cotton it's obviously done after a few years.

there is always the rope making, paper making, fuel making properties of hemp to.

but instead of using it to our advantage we import all of the hemp in this country.

you would think growing hemp would be GREAT for the environment. but hey, what do a bunch of stoners know right?

Not just the environment, but our economy!!!

So much potential!!! We could stimulate our own economy for once...maybe...just a thought...

People like Dow Chemicals have lobbied and suppressed Hemp for their own personal gain. If hemp were made legal, it would capsize business. Since the world (or U.S.) works for corporate gains and not for the people, hemp was pushed a side. Its all about money people and not about reason.

They made a lotus out of Hemp fiber panels which were as strong as carbon. The oil was also made from hemp. I think it was on 5th Gear.

Watch The Union, it explains when the government was first discovering cannabis use from the mexicans they associated the whole plant with drug use and just completely banned every aspect of the plant and never looked back. To this day the government is still ignorant to hemp disregarding it's value to the economy. It's sad shit but thats the US government for you

it also could stop mud slides by planting hemp on hills were this may be a problem. it has the largest and fastest growing root system!

In colonial times, it was illegal to NOT grow hemp. It was a need for everything from paper to clothing back then. Also, if they legalized hemp, it would cut back drastically on the amount of trees we kill just to get paper, not to mention for construction purposes. Trees are actually only 35% cellulose, the part we used for paper and wood, hemp on the other hand is 80% cellulose. Those are clear numbers. The real reason that it won't be legalized is because of the gas industry. It can be used to make ethanol, grows faster than corn, and would be actually cleaner burning than even corn ethanol. The reason is because America is still too capitalistically minded, and can't get their heads out of there ass's to realize this will help the economy.

Indeed, it truely is a "miracle plant", the innumerable uses are unparalleled. Consider this...which other plant can supply: 1)Food (historically used) 2) Shelter - through hempen materials 3) Medicine 4) Clothing ...5) etc, etc etc
