Ok, so I found a resonably large patch of weed growing along a lake in sandy soil. It is located in northern Illinois close to the quad cities and Iowa border. The problem is, I live 4 1/2 hours away. The area has been known to get frosts as early as oct 10. I need to know when I can try I come up here to pick it, because it has to be on a day off from school. I was thinking oct 16 (end of 1st quarter). I know that the first frost is typically a light one, however I'm not sure how the plants will be affected by it. Also the growing season ends earlier, so i'm not sure when the plants will bebudding out. The really closely packed stuff is skinny and 5ft tall. Where the more typical looking plants spread out are about 4 ft. I can see little tips of bud starting to flower on the females, and I got most of the male plants out for now. So what's the estmated time for budding? And will a light frost effect it?

I would leave it there for risk of getting your ass kicked by the person growing it.

They sound wild though...Who in their right mind growing an outdoor patch would leave the males lingering around....

But even so...you sound too young for this site
