View Full Version : 8 weeks into 12/12...no amber's, nute?

Hey guys and girls,
My first ever grow is on week 8 of flowering. As a newb, i though i should stop feeding 2 weeks prior to harvest, (I assumed harvest would be week 8)! Needless to say, its week 8 and I still have not started to see any amber trich's, also I noticed yesterday that the buds on one plant have sprouted some new white pistils!?!? What does that mean? I have only been watering with pH'd water and molasses for the last two weeks...my plants have pretty much lost ALL of the large fan leaves! Since they obviously aren't ready to harvest yet, should I give them a shot of nutrients? if so, what? What would be the smart thing to do here? Any comments or questions are welcome!

Since we don't know the strain it hard to tell you when to start looking for amber. Most Indica will be ready in 8-10 weeks. Sativa's run 8 to 14 weeks or more. Next time wait until you see that all or most of the trichomes have turned cloudy before you switch your nute schedule to just ph'd water.
The time that most seed providers tell you when a certain strain finishes is just a good starting point and varies among growers and their methods.

A strain that is marketed as 8-10 weeks is likely going to take the home gardener 10-12 weeks, (or more) depending on your equipment, soil or hydro, experience level, nutrients and climate. (indoors or outdoors)

A mature plant will have predominately milky or cloudy trichomes. An over-mature plant will start showing rusty or amber trichomes. Waiting for the rusty trichomes can add extra weeks to the totals.

If I was going to keep waiting, I'd offer half-strength nutes, once or twice. But remember...you will still have to dry and cure her, which can take from a few days to a few weeks. Don't over-do it with the nutes. Also, keep in mind...you have no fan leaves left, so any guesses where the excess will go?

Would also back off of the molasss if you're going to be adding the nutes. Molasses is like a 'nutrient kicker' that amplifies the nutrients effects. (a slight oversimplification, but accurate)
