I have a small grow cab.2'wx4'lx4'h with 20,000 lumens from t5 fluro's.does my fan for blowing on the plants have to be oscalating considering the small space or can it be a stationery type fan. Also my venting is from a 6" inline fan with 225 cfm and a passive intake hole 6"- is this too muchcfm for my cabinet or does this really matter? :twocents:

no, your fan does not have to oscillate. the main purpose of that fan is to simulate wind and help your stems grow nice and strong. as long as it hits all of your ladies you're fine.

as far as ventilation, you want to exchange the air in your grow room at the minimum of every five minutes. (every one or two minutes is ideal, i think.)

to find cubic feet you use l x w x h. so you would have 2 x 4 x 4 or (2 x 4) x 4= 32 cubic feet. so your 225 CFM fan is plenty of sufficient for your needs.

the intake hole is another thing. you want to create a negative pressure in your cab. you do this by exhausting more air than you can take in. this negative pressure draws in fresh, 02 rich, cool air.

i guess this is normally done with smaller intakes than exhausts. i've read all kind of opinions on the subject. you might have to play around with this.

good growing!

well damn "Shake"you come to the rescue as quick as I can post. thanks alot for that :) I am sure I have neg. pressure I just wasn't sure if you could have too much. While I got your attention you also have a small grow box with fluro's that you use, correct? Would I be best going with a few plants using lst or more plants sog style. And one more question if you do not mind:D Do you use superthrive, and if so when and how much? Thank you ahead of time!

yeah, i've got too much free time....thanks for pointing that out. j/k!

yes, i have a couple of small grow boxes with fluros. i haven't really tried to go with a SOG yet. i've been experimenting myself. the only problem is that i haven't had the same variables for any of the tests. (new box, or more lights, or different nutes etc.) i've done single plants with and without LST, but again different variables.

with the space you are working with do you have a seperate veg and flower room? with SOG you are going to need a place for clones/veg/moms and a flowering room.

with the superthrive, one drop per gallon. don't use in flower.

Yes I have 2 seperate rooms, basically identical in size and lights, the ventilation in my other room is not as good but I will be working on that real soon. I believe I will try lst so I am open to any advice because all previous grows were just straight grow with no advanced techniques used. How often do you water with superthrive during vegging? I have only been on this forum for about 2 weeks and I cannot turn it off, so much info being shared, I find it pretty fascinating so I must be really bored with my life. :computerlove1:

well i follow the fox farm feeding schedule. are you using all three liquids? what about the solubles?

they have a bunch of micronutes in them. so you want to be careful. too many micro nutes are a bad thing. so i go by the FF feeding schedule. and when they dry out in between i use properly pH'd water with molasses, a drop of superthrive (supposed to be per gallon, i use one drop for two gallons) and once a month a drop of non-antibacterial dish soap. the dish soap helps get rid of the salt buildup that FF is notorius for.

DON'T USE THE SUPERTHRIVE DURING FLOWER!

like i said, i'm by no means an expert. maybe rusty trichrome will chime in.

I could not afford any of the solulables at the time but maybe soon. what would be the bes to get if I only could afford one? there is something I do not understand on ff's feeding schedule, when It say's to use 2 tbs per gallon does it mean to use that ratio per week or to use the 2 tbs per gallon ratio every time you water with nutes. I know to use nutes only everyother water. I am not sure if I am explaining this right. I believe I read that rustytri- uses 1/2 the amount per gallon twice a week. I am confused???

the schedule is the amount of each nute you add to a gallon of water. if you don't need to mix a gallon you can downsize (just make sure you math is right, lol). and yes, those are per week feedings, but like i said, if you don't need a full batch don't sweat it. it's more of a feeding and mixing guidline. did that make sense?

what rusty says is with the big bloom he uses 1/2 the recommended dosage, twice a week for the full dosage. that's just for the big bloom.

also, the grow big and tiger bloom are in TEASPOONS (tsp) and the big bloom is in TABLESPOONS (Tbsp). three teaspoons in a tablespoon.

as far as the solubles, i can't say which one is best. you can always supplement your grow with blackstrap, unsulphured molasses. (or just unsulphured that you find at walmart or the fgrocery store).

Shake please be calm but my dumb ass is still confused. So lets say I water with nutes 3 times a week(just for example)should the water I use come from a mix of 2tbs/gal or 1/3 of 2 tbs/gal. I will try the mollasses as this is way cheaper than the stuff from FF. Thanks again. Hell I'm going to owe you a steak dinner before this post is over! :D

lol. it's all good. we all started somewhere. and i like to help. usually.

you should only be using nutes ~once a week. in between you use plain, properly pH'd water. (you can add the molasses then if you want).

if we look at week, let's pick 7 on the FF feeding chart. the ladies get 2 tsp of GB, 2 tsp of TB and 1 Tbl of BB. so you give the full dose of GB and TB, but only 1/2 (1.5 teaspoons) of the BB. then, the next watering that week, the one with the pH'd water (and molasses, you can add the other 1.5 tsp of BB for the complete weekly dose.

i hope that this makes sense.
