Have medical qualifying conditions with medical records to back it up. I am a vet and get my med care at VA. I don't have a regular doc other than VA. State says they may reject applicants who are not regular patient of physician. They tell me you can not visit doctor just once for signing of paperwork. You must be a regular patient. I don't have the money to go around trying different doctors to see who is med 420 friendly. Would love some advice. Please not the same old rhetoric I have been reading on this sight. Lets get this straight folks.

it doesn't work like that here, all docs can be involved but it all depends on what you want your prescription for. go to the NM heath board website to get started. they have all the steps and guidelines their, it is not like a DR can sign off and you get cannabis, it is a little different here.

Thanks for getting back to me brother. I truly want to support our Medical Marijuana laws here in new mexico. I am 50 yrs. old and I am frustrated with the process. I want protection from the law. At my age I do not want an encounter with the law. Been there done that already. I am disabled and do not work. I have lots of time on my hands. My goal is to go through the process of getting my NM MMJ card and then to make myself available to all who need help and encouragement to go throught the process of aquiring a card. The more people that get their card, the better things will become for all of us.
South of the border there has been much violence associated with Marijuana. People dying everyday so that Americans can smoke their shitty swag. I want to grow my own high quality medicine and then I will be one less person fueling the violent drug trade south of the border. My ultimate goal is to assist others in anyway I can.
I have been on your site and enjoy your videos.
Peace and goodwill brother

Peace and goodwill brother
thats good to hear, my thoughts are with you brother, I hope you are doing good, and living healthy. I too, am in the process of trying to get a card, and it is allot of red tape. I am on the list, under pain, so i need 2 dr, on specialist the other practitioner. but I dont have medical till recent ly, so now I am just waiting, all my previous history and Dr, visits apparently mean nothing to them.
A good note, If You file taxes in Bernalillo county, you are eligible for health insurance through the state of NM. Just go or call UNMH and ask the operator to set you up with an appointment. it takes a very long time, so expect that.

Dr. Elting in T or C, do a web search. She came from Cali, and goes back and forth. If you qualify, she will sign off. Hell, she has signed off on some people that didn't qualify and got them a license.

Hello Waynester,
and to anyone else finding difficulties in obtaining your mmj patient's license for personal use, I may be able to asst you. I am in touch with local physicians who are following the guidlines of the NMDOH and is issuing referrals for those in ligitimate and serious need only.
I am in no position to disclose here, these physician's contact info - nor will I attempt to evaluate anyone's intent for acquiring their license.
I am one member of a locally established group with a unique approach to our NMDOH's Medical Cannabis program. With final stages near closing, we are still inclined to prudently assist with what we legally can.
I am not a user, but I strongly advocate expressions and exercises of freedoms, unity and truth.
I hope to soon share more.
message me directly for assistance.

Dr. Elting = a dead end ("not accepting any new patients at this time")
Would like to message truth4um directly, but can't figure out how.

Yeah, and the answer doesn't involve contacting a private entity and being charged to help you find a Dr. It should be most Dr.s ethics. Its legal. There is a form from the state listing conditions. The Dr. isn't signing off on marijuana, but only that you have one of the conditions listed. The state makes the decision. If your Dr. Doesn't lie, he or she should have an obligation to confirm a state form saying you have a listed illness. Its pretty simple...as long as you qualify. Can't go to some Dr. for the first time with not history and proof and expect them to sign off on chronic pain for instance. It would be like walking in and asking for some oxicotin or something.

THAT'S ALL GOOD, BUT I HAVE 20YEARS OF PROOF, BUT THE DOCTORS ARE VA. ELTING NO REPLY WAITING TWO MONTHS, DOCTORS ASSOCIATION NO REFERRALS, SAME WITH NEW MEXICO NURSES ASSOCIATION, ASA, MMP, NORML, AND SOME OTHERS. We are a non profit corporation trying to become a NM DOH Licensed Producer. Our web site for patient advocacy is The NewMexiCannabis Project (http://www.newmexicann.org)
I have a psychiatrist who can give you a recommendation. You do not have to be a regular patient but you will have to see him once a year to renew the recommendation. NM DOH honors his recommendations for PTSD. I use him for myself and had no problems with NM DOH. It takes a while to get an appointment with him though - as much as two months. If I remember correctly, he charges $200.
I do not want to post his name publically.

I qualify, but my local doctor says NO to a scrip, and so does the hospital (my PcP). Now that I've learned of this magic form, from where is this form available? Can I get it online? I'd like to get this form, so I can move forward with getting my card.

Unfortunately, the doc has to not only certify that the patient has one of the recognized conditions, but als that Medical Marijuans would be of benefit.
Here is the language from the NM DoH applicaiton for patients:
"Written certification MUST be provided below pursuant to the Lynn & Erin Compassionate Use Act of 2007, certifying the aforementioned patient has a debilitating medical condition and the potential health benefits of the medical use of marijuana would likely outweigh health risks for the patient: (Attach a separate page if more space is needed)"
The doc has to explain this in some detail on the form.
The link for the Packet of forms with instructions on the NM DoH web site is:

Well, crud. Looks like I'm gonna be SOL on this. How odd that we have a law that allows it, but the "system" makes it impossible for me to get it? What's the use? It will take Carlsbad 20 years to catch up - so if you live here, I guess you're just screwed, huh? Thanks for the info & forms, etc. It's just too bad I can't do anything with them, considering my situation. I guess I'll look into moving to CA, where it's all but legal.

I called the 1800 number y'all put here and its the thc clinic in oregon where i had a card for 2 years so Im in their database, I just need to fax them my current records and theyre calling me back in a week to set me up with a doc here in abq !! Im sooooooooooooooo happy now !! Once I get my card I wont have to be out anymore !! Im out now and it sucks balls from hell !!!
I dont like pills of any kind except maybe xanax. The narcotics hurt me more and make my stomach and consitpation worse. Im so happy now and Im kinda glad there are dispenseries here because I dont wanna have to go thru the hassle of finding a grower. so kudos bill richardson for getting this for new mexicans !! I will carry the tradition from oregon and help out fellow card holders who are out of medicine too ! If youre a card holder in oregon and youre out of medicine.. people will GIVE you eighths of high grade stuff. Im proud of how nice fellow sick people are. Life is alot harder when youre sick and suffering. Illness can get you down so bad. (its where I am now).
Not knowing a soul here doesnt help. well once again hooray for nm !!!

Professional, no bullshit experience for well documented medical cannabis program applicants.
Pain Specialist for second signature for Severe Chronic Pain.
It takes about one week to schedule, two quick office visits and $170 cash.
You get a six page report on your condition and all the completed paperwork for the pain specialist portion of your application.
I would like to see the cost come down to a normal office visit expense, ($20 -$40) but then who wouldn't? Other then that it was a good experience and not shady in the least!

Sorry to have to inform you, but "deserthealer" passed away. You can still find her clinic...Full Circle Health...online or in the phone book. There are other nurse practitioners working there that sign the papers. If you contact the Las Cruces producer, just provide your patient ID #, they might be able to help you with other doctors who are signing.

Im suprised and touched to find words about/from my mother "deserthealer" here. I would have never thought it. Regardless she lives on in the actions of her children. Info on the NM MMJ can be found at Dr. Green Hydroponics, including the best doctors.

Could anyone give me some advice. I have sciatic nerve chronic pain. What is the process in getting a Medical Card. I have no medical history and realize i will have to go through different Doctors to establish this. I am in Santa Fe but willing to go to ABQ. Any recoomedations with any doctors or clinics would be helpful. I do not want to use surgery or other meds.

How in the world do you post on here? I am new to this and see how to reply but cannot post. I have a son with ptsd and depression and 5 other disabilities and he needs this stuff to function on a daily basis sometimes. I am wondering how to claim a address to get the card to travel to NM every 2-3 months to get some. you asked about cool docs are there any there that will help youi get the card WITHOUT being a resident?

Hey Suzie
Not going to happen. The NM program is really strict and thourough in verifying patient applications. You cannot just "claim an address". Patients must be NM residents to participate in the NM MCP. There are still very few doctors who will even participate in our program. With it now legal in both Washington state and Colorado, you probably can go to either of those states and procure his medicine without seeing a doctor at all.
Wishing you and your son well.

Im a disabled veteran just diagnosed with PTSD from the VA. For all other veterans : when you have a primary care appointment, the intake nurse will take u in and get ur vitals and ask u questions, 1 one the questions is " do you have or suffer from depression or anxiety"? I said yes and then the scheduled me for a PTSD evaluation in BLDG 1. I told them my war stories and they agread I had PTSD and that it would state so in my medical records. I then attended 5 PTSD group sessions, got copies of my new medical records, called Dr. Nardacci up from the back of the Alibi for a medical marijuana patient evaluation. I showed up with my new VA records to Dr. Nardacci's office off 2nd street, they reviewed my records and asked some basic question like," have i ever used marijuana before and did it help"? I said yes and he approved my paperwork, made copies, made me up a addressed envelope to Santa Fe and off went my application in the mail, certified that is. 4 weeks later I have my patient and grow cards. Sooo for veterans it might take us some time to accomplish these tasks but it can be done if patient and persistant with the VA ! U may contact me for further assistance at olliegrow at yahoo....later new mexico....
WTG Ollie! Will keep this info on hand.

Hi all,
Does anyone have any more current suggestions to make for a compassionate doctor to see in the Albuquerque area? This would be my first time applying for the card in NM. I was a MMJ patient in California for 4.5 years before moving to NM. In CA I qualified due to chronic neck and back pain and also anxiety and depression. I have not been to a doctor visit yet here in NM since moving here last Oct. 2012, but I have saved all my "After Visit Summary" printout notes that my doctor gave me back in CA after my visits, which list these health problems and the prescription drugs to treat them. I also still have all the letters of recommendations I got from the CA MMJ doctor.
The good news is that by using MMJ I was able to wean myself off of all the prescription drugs over time. The bad news is I'm not a medical cannabis patient (yet) in NM. To get MJ I have to go to the street. I really miss being able to go to a dispensary and choose among the strains to find the ones that treat my illnesses the best, and to have the herb tested for its THC and CBD percentages and cleanliness (some of my old favorites are Trainwreck, Sour Diesel, Super Silver Haze, Blue Dream Haze, Lambs Bread, Green Crack, Blueberry, Grand Daddy Purple, Headband, White Widow, Skywalker x OG, etc.).
I see some of the advertised clinics on the back of the Alibi look to me like they are more of a referral service. I think I'd be better off finding an actual doctor who could become my primary care physician, and who would also be medical cannabis friendly. I need one who could also advise me, based on my condition and examination, whether it's better for me to try to qualify for the program with my chronic pain, or to try to show with my anxiety and depression that I qualify for PTSD. I've never had a diagnosis of PTSD before from a psychiatrist, but it seems to me from what I've read that I have it. Any advice would be appreciated.

Hi all,

Brief Relief has a wonderful Dr. who ya i would not advise you to go through the Alibi people iv heard to many bad stories and people gettin ripped off. The people at BR give free consultations just to see if you do qualify. I would advise you to go to Brief Relief. Iv been on the Medical Canabis Program for $ years now and have seen a lot go happen.. good luck the number to there office is (505) 433-1773. there even next to a Medical Producer.

Hey StonerCasper, thanks for the advice! Brief Relief sounds like a good one to try. Now I've just got to pull my files together, and give them a call. I wish we were much further along as a society with this wonderful herb being more readily available to help so many of us get the relief we need.
For the record, in your reply, it looks like some of your response got embedded in the quote of mine, "well, i went through Brief Relief..."
