hey friends,
i've been lurking around for awhile now and have learned so much from everybody so thanks!

these girls are from germinated bagseed. they are now 8 weeks old.
grown under flouros first then switched to cfl's. they get 20k lumens 18 hrs/day.

both my girls are subjected to some light bondage (LST) but since i'm new, I have been goin pretty easy on them

the medium is perlite/vermiculite/sand in equal parts (5 gal.)
been givin them miracle grow for veg. 1/4 strength every other watering day

now switching to organic nutes, not sure which one yet tho
superthrive, a drop a gallon each time I water
haven't tested the pH yet, but picked up a kit yesterday.

I foolishly picked up a couple clones about a month into this grow (i get excited easily!) anyway, that began a month of terror because the clones had spider mites! i threw those b*tches out and put a hotshot no pest strip
in the room.
so far so good..but i'm still paranoid

I am lookin forward to flowering these beauties in approx 2 weeks. Tomorrow I will take a few clones and put them in a rubbermaid on 12/12

thanks for your interest in my humble grow here, i'ma try to keep you abreast on my progress.

the top pic's are from 2 weeks ago and include the clones (in the small cups)
the bottom pic was just taken and is of the original 2 bagseeds

Hey cannabis.com'rs,

Here are pics' taken today of the the 2 seeds I germinated about 10 weeks ago.

I took cutting for clones 3 days ago and am about to implement the 'double pot' method because I think they may both be rootbound in the 5 gallon buckets they are in.

So far, so good...in fact too good that i'm afraid that I'm in for some kind of surprise so if anyone has any insights to offer or suggestion, please don't be shy.

Also, I am only guessing at their sex..i THINK/HOPE they are both girls...

first plant:

second plant:

http://i290.photobucket.com/albums/ll274/elastigirl92/betty72809.jpg

also the second plant has 9 leaves (the first one only has 7.. I looked for an explanation on this side and the web, but haven't found one yet. if anyone knows, please share.)

please let me know how i'm doing...i could really do with some feedback. Thanks!

They look good man. When are you gonna put em into flowering? Keep in mind they may double or triple in size when you do.

i'm thinking that i'll switch the lights in about 2 more days..

I wasn't sure how they would respond to me cuttin' them up ! but they seemed to like it  they really sprung up afterwards...so ya, in about 2 more days.

the closet should be big enough, it's 3'X2.5'X9' i wish i had flowered sooner but spider mites set things back ... lessons learned so it's all good...

thanks for checkin out my grow log man!!

BTW, I started using Fox Farm nutes, beginning at 1/4 strength, right at the light switch and it has been HELL trying to keep my pH steady.. It bounces from 5.8 to 7.2 every 2 days.

my mad scientist mix for the medium : 20% perlite, 20% vermiculite, 30% sand, 30% peat (BWahhaHAHAhaaaa)

I picked up some pH down concentrate by Advance Nutrients today..planned on following the directions on the label. Anyone have any experience with this stuff or any helps ?? I need to mix up some new medium and read somewhere on here that dolomite lime mixed in may help stabilize pH .. can anyone confirm~true or false??

i'm told they need about 90 days in flowering to mature, but it's bagseed so can anyone help me out by looking at the pics'?

Hot damn! Those are looking awesome! Have you perhaps got a microscope or magnifying glass? That will help you determine when you wanna chop em. Right now they look freakin great, I would think another 2-3 weeks before the big day.

You never posted anything about your lighting spec's - just curious how many CFLs and what watts?

Looking good tho - look for 10-50% amber trichromes (depending on what kinda high you want) to know when to harvest.

Hot damn! Those are looking awesome!

thank you daddy :D

I have been inspecting trich's with a 30x jewler's loupe and can see that most of them are cloudy (or milky). Some of the buds have a few amber trich's here and there.

Could the big day be sooner rather than later? If so, this is so unexpected and presents other concerns.... :( (like nute flushing, adding molasses, etc)

The lights were just changed to 12/12 on 8/1.

Would high temps cause trich's to change prematurely? Exhaust air is routinely in the high 80's to low 90's.

hmmmm.......

You never posted anything about your lighting spec's - just curious how many CFLs and what watts?

During the seedling stage, they sat on my dining table and received very little light (or attention, for that matter). Then I put a cabinet together with 2 flouro tubes.and I picked up a grow bible.lol

For the veg stage I used
(4) 27 watt 5500k
(4) 23 watt 6500k

Growth seemed slow. I decided to switch out all 5500k bulbs and replaced them with 6500k. I gradually added (5) more 6500k lights to the mix and (3)2700k.

For flowering, I used
(2) 40 watt 2700k
(16) 23 watt 2700k
(2) 27 watt 5500k

The 40 watt'ers were strategically placed near the main and side colas. And I tried to place the 5500k bulbs next to stems that were stretching too much. In fact, that's the only reason I put them in there at all! It seemed to help.

8 of these lights are on top, the other 12 are split between the left and right sides of the cabinet.

I have run into problems along the way with the lights sometimes burning the leaves because the light is kept a minimum distance away. I feel this is one of things you deal with when working with CFLs..hopefully switching to LED soon!

:stoned:

thank you for the encouragement ~ I have been looking at trich's and found some amber...mostly they are milky/cloudy at this point. Couldn't find any clear ones.

I am looking for a social :stoned:, with moderate pain relief. It's so tempting not to hack 'em up now!!

They smell like chocolate coffee !!

So how long do you think it will take for the trich's turn amber?

thanks

You really had 20 CFLs! That is a hell of a lot! Would you be willing to put ap a pic or two of your cab? I am Just starting a rubbermaid grow with only 6 CFLs(after I saw the DIY thread), tested it, high temps, got better/more fans, temps went down, and I'm just sprouting a bean. Anyways enough rambling, I would be sooo damn temped to harvest that, if it were me, I would be thinking about starting the flush right away.

Hey savage

nice grow you got going here....20 CFL are you serious....thats awesome....you could and would probably be saving if you ran a 400 or a 600 hps...just food for thought.....also, i would remove whatever kinda reflective material you have on the wall....the wrinkles in it creates hot spot and actually throws the lights in angles in which the plant can use! paint the walls flat white or hang the mylar in a way that it is flat on the surface.....NO TINFOIL if thats what it is!

Plus those plants look no where near maturity...id keep looking at the trics....not the hairs...cut a few sugar leafs off so you can really get a good look at them....its just easier to remove a few then to view them on the plant..

keep it grow....the plants looks beautiful! cant wait to see some bud porn!

LOL, no way is that tinfoil! I definitely will be painting flat white on the inside (and hopefully upgrading my light set up) as soon as this beauty is done. I started this grow with zero knowledge so it's been a fly by the seat of my pants kinda ride (my fave!) thanks for the feedback, i love it!!

THANK YOU!! I did this today, took 'em outside so I could get a glimpse under some REAL light! and the trich's are still clear. It must have been the 2700k light making them look cloudy (?)

anyway, it was the answer I needed because the timeframe wasn't right for maturity.

 thanks for commenting on my grow!

Psychocat,

I am not interested in playing childish games, nor do I have time for them.

I AM here to share experience and gain knowledge.

and after checking out the thread (which I did after my initial response to you), I did try to give POSITIVE rep to you because your post solved a problem I was having with my settings.

And as daddy said, I had no rep to give. hope that clears things up

I have been a member here for an awful long time but because of some of the recent changes I am a little behind on the intricacies of the sight, I misatakenly assumed the grey to be neg rep.
My apologies for this.
I do however find your initial response a little abrasive and agressive given that I was asking a question that you then went on to answer.

I do accept.

I can admit that my response was harsh... and in my defense, your question is phrased more like an accusation. An email might have been more appropriate than crashing my thread, no?

However, I have learned so much from this site and would like to continue to enjoy it..so forgive me for being overly aggressive.

It was just a misunderstanding, eh?

peace, without the drama
