I wrap up my nutrient cycle with just a teaspoon of molasses with 2 1/2 gallons of water around the 5th or 6th week of flowering to give the bud a nice sweet flavor, and then I just go with straight water the last two weeks. That'll flush any residual nutes out, so you don't end up smoking them. Some go 7 days, but I prefer the full two weeks just to make sure.

I have 2 plants with only 1 or 2 of the hairs starting to turn brown. Should I stop giving it nutes now? I want to harvest when about 40% are colored.

The hairs mean nothing. Follow the trichomes and you can't go wrong. what strain ? Some white strains never turn red untill after harvest. Get a good loop or magnifier and do a seach it will show you what you need to know.

I would recommend a loupe with 10x and 20x, just so you can see that lovely milky white trichome sitting there like a golf ball on a tee. Then you know you're good to harvest.

Adding molasses to the water will not make the plant 'sweeter'. Neither will kool-aid, sleepytime teas, eye of newt, or anything else for that matter. Doesn't work that way. Molasses is a great source of micronutes, calcium, magnesium, iorn and carbon, and it's the basis for most of the carbo-load products.

A little overkill, (two weeks?) but you do understand that you are flushing the soil, not the plant, right? Impossible to flush the plant without killing her.
I do the final flush with plain, ph'd water for two or three days, then cure the buds after harvest if necessary. (curing is not always necessary)
