Looks to me like leaf-tip irritation.
When the fan blows one leaf tip gently back-n-forth across another leaf for an extended period of time...that's the resulting injury. Nothing to fret about, not much you can do about it.

Can also get the same look when you drip nutrient solution on the leaves, and let it sit there.

400w HPS about 4 inches awayThat's pretty close to the 400 watter, if I'm not mistaken. My plants would cook if I put them 4 inches away from my 250w.

Rusty! That could be it and makes sense.. I will keep on eye on that and see if that is the case. I never thought of that.. Thanks.

My hood is vented with a glass barrier on a light mover so it does not stay still above the plants for more than a few seconds. My therory is that this is why I can keep them as close as I do. I check them everyday during the lights on to make sure we have no burns and so far so good.

Thanks for the input.

Your lighting theory sounds valid to me. My lights aren't enclosed or vented. :(

Rusty always nails it.
