I took a DOT urine test Monday morning at 11:15 am. It is now Friday afternoon, and I have not heard anything. I called the place where the test was done, and they said my employer would be sent the results within 2-3 days. 3 days was yesterday. My boss knows what's going on since I admitted to him that I smoke. He just wants me to do whatever I have to do to pass the test. I read that if the test is positive the MRO must contact me first. I have heard nothing now after 4 days. I think I passed. Any other thoughts?
Also, I do not have a CDL, nor do I need a CDL to drive the delivery truck I drive. It weighs 14,500 lbs. Does anyone know why I need a DOT test in the first place when I have no CDL?

It takes 3 business days to get the results. If you didn't hear anything from the MRO then you should be good.
Some companies test under DOT regs just to be cautious. Are you hauling any hazardous materials?

Well, my boss would rather not even conduct the testing, he just thinks he has to comply with the law. We rent trucks from Ryder, and he says maybe they require it. I thought only the government could mandate a DOT test.

It could be just the health card requirement for commercial vehicles, which doesn't test for drugs. CDL doesn apply until 25K GVW.

You definately have to have a medical card to drive a truck that weighs that much.
If you haven't heard back in 4 days, your probably good to go. I took my whiz quiz on a Thursday, and the Dr. called me on Monday:(

No you don't have to have a medical card. That only applies to cdl's or if you're hauling hazardous materials. It maybe a requirement that ryder is asking for.

Not to argue or cause an issue, but if you drive a truck 10K pounds and over, you need a med card, I just talked with the DOT a couple of days ago and that is what they told me. At least where I live you do.
