I've been wanting to get a Vaporizer for a long time, just because I smoke quite a bit and would like to give my lungs a bit of a rest.

My friend has a Volcano, an analog model. We've smoked out of it many times and it takes great hits, but it doesn't really seem much different than smoking to me, and I usually still cough just as much if not more.

But I have a feeling that he isn't doing it right. He just cranks the dial to the highest setting and what fills the bag looks pretty much just like smoke. I mean the weed isn't catching on fire or anything but are you really supposed to just set the dial to the highest each time? What's the point of even having a dial then?

I tried to have him try a lower temp but he is a pretty stubborn person that isn't really interested in suggestions on how to do stuff.

What do you all think?

I think you're supposed to vape on like 5.5 or 6, certainly not the max temp.

Does the "used" weed look brown or black? If its black then its being burned to hot.

Wide open on the cano Classic is about 440 F. That's nearly to combustion point. You're getting high temp vapor, which is very harsh and has a lot of the same toxins as smoke.

Somewhere between 5.5 and 7.5 would be a better setting. That covers the range between about 363 and 406 F. Personally, I would go for a setting of about 6-6.5, but 9 is definitely too high for a nice, clean vapor high.

I would tell your friend he might as well be smoking and you're not interested in vapor that's close to combustion temp.
