Hi there. Long time reader, first time poster. I thought I would start a log for my second grow. The first grow I had, with the same resources, was C99 about a year and half ago. But, in a different place and different climate. Very successful grow, one of the easiest things I had done, they almost grew themselves. The absolute best smoke I had ever had, Cindy is one of a kind. So I decided to get a variation of her, add some of the fabled Blueberry to the mix.

So here goes....

400 watt MH/HPS conversion
MG Seedling/MG Organic Choice
Fox Farm Nuts (Grow Big, Big Bloom, Tiger Bloom)
Superthrive
4x4x6.5 Bud Box

I mixed the MG Seedling and Organic Choice together for a 50/50 ratio after germination using the plate and paper towel method. Most of these seeds showed taproot after 24 hours being in the southern humidity. After planting, all of them sprouted after a day or so. (On a side note, Hemp Depot--Highly Recomended-- I had 100 percent germination/sprout rate and shipped in under two weeks). They spent two days outside on the balcony before being brought inside, I wanted a bit longer, but two eager ones decided to just stretch a bit, so I put them all under the envelope of the MH. I know this isnt recomended for such young souls, but I figured I would rather have slow growth for the seedlings for the first week as they adjusted to the light than Stretch Armstrong. Plus the light is about 5 feet away, they should be fine.

The question I have is Humidity. I have a room air conditioner about 3 feet away from the Bud Box. The problem is that this in a very efficient air conditioner and is taking all of the water out of the air. Do ya'll think I'm creating enough Humidity in the Bud Box by filling up a saucepan daily? I would love to hear some experiences.

Also, last night, I gave them a small dose of Superthrive to get their little roots going. All of them have perked up a bit this morning. I thought I would throw that out there for all those ST haters. :)

Here they are at 3 days old.

Saucepan may work, probably best to get a thermostat that reads temp and your humidity levels. I know the water in the pan will help some, but how much it will help is unknown. Maybe a small bucket of water close to a light source may work better.....starting to look good though! I'm aboard for this one!

Thanks, my friend. I ended up leaving the pan in there, and just lowering the light to create the humidity. So far, so good. The babies are growing fast. I'll post pictures in a few days. :)

I deal with low humidity in the winter, sometimes down into the teens when a cold front comes through.

In my experience, adding pans of water only gets you a few percentage points. The best I was ever able to do was a 5% increase. So, don't expect a huge difference with pans of water.

Also, in my experience, and from other posts I've read on the forums*, low humidity doesn't seem to affect these plants as adversely as the literature would have you believe.

You've got nice genetics, I'll be watching this one. Good luck.

*(referencing specifically Rusty Tricombe's thread on dealing with heat in a desert climate).

I just ran into this issue a little bit myself.. I am in Veg right now and my RH% was a little low around 50-55%. I added a bowl of water in the room (Biggest surface I could find) and it raised things up to 60-65% so it works pretty well. Your mileage my differ due to climate and how many times you open the door to the room :)

40-50% RH is fine.

stanky, you never mention what your RH is, unless i missed it?

I actually do not know, but when I stick my head in there it feels fairly humid. I dont have a way to measure right now. The girls are growing pretty nice, so I havent though twice about it. When the light is on, its 85 degrees and at night its between 65-70.

But, I ran into some trouble yesterday. I awoke to find the plants yellowing a bit in the middle of the new growth. So, I searched some common plant problems for seedlings and found out that my grow tent might be one one of the tents manufactured in China over the past year that emits chlorine due to the PVC in it. So I was actually suffocating them. I dont know if its the tent itself or just the splash tray, but I took the splash tray out and they are returning to their natural color. So, I might have adverted disaster there. What kind of vendor knowingly sells toxic products? I hate shady people like that.

But, they are coming along nicely. I added 1 tablespoon of Big Bloom to their second watering. I will start with Grow Big in a week or at full strength every other watering, in combination with Big Bloom in off waterings.

Here they are at 10 days:

Thanks Saucey. I try and treat the ladies well, playing good vibes for them. Lately they have been jammin' to some Radiohead, so when these are ladies are mature, they have good vibes all over them.

Here are some more pics at Day 10:

Hey btw, how is that saucepan full of water working?

Saucey...It seems to be working very well. I dont have a way to measure the humidity, but its working well enough for the plants to grow at a very good rate. I just stick my head in there, and can feel the difference. I dont think this would work for a grow room, but for my 4x4 bud box, the humidity seems to be trapped in there. At 16 days now, will post pics tomorrow. :)

Here they are at Day 17. They seem to be getting a bit root bound, so I will be repotting in one gallon containers over the next few days. They started showing Nit. Def. on Day 12, so I gave them a half dose of Grow Big. My plants are growing up so fast (sniff, sniff). All except one are starting on their mature leaf set (9 points) and from what I remember from my last grow and various other grow logs, this is where they explode with growth. So, I'm pretty excited.

I will use 5 drops of Superthrive in combination with a full feeding of Grow Big when repotting.

I would like some suggestions on the grow from more experienced growers, after all I am a noob, but I have read alot on this forum and others on the basics of growing. Is there anything that I am doing wrong that you all can see? Thanks.

If you put a gun to my head and asked me to make a suggestion, based on the pics, I would say add a bit more perlite to your potting mix, but that would be nitpicking. :D

You may be a n00b but you either have good instincts or have done your homework. Either way, I think they look great.

Good luck for the rest of your grow.

I got them from Hemp Depot about two months ago, all of them germinated and sprouted. Although, something ripped the cotelydons off the first night on three of them after they sprouted. I had twisted leaves for the first 2 weeks on the first true set of leaves, on 2 or 3 of them. They grew out of it through. Hughes, what kind of nutes do you have? You might want to look into giving them a half-dose of your nutes. It might be a Magnesium problem, or some other micronutes.

Thanks Crabbyback. When I transplanted a couple days ago, I added alot of perlite to the soil. Hopefully I'll get the watering down to twice a week. When I wanted to start growing about 2 years ago, all I did was look at these boards and various other grow logs on the basics of growing. I guess thats what I wanted to do with this grow log, to give back to the Cannabis community and to other noobs that hope to learn how to grow.

I'll post pics in a few days. :hippy:

Also Hughes, whats your set-up like? Pics would be great, we could do a side-by-side grow here. That would be cool.

Here is the grow at 24 days. Probably will start to flower at the end of the month. I am feeding them a full dose of Grow Big once a week in addition to a full dose of Big Bloom in subsequent waterings. I also use a drop of Superthrive in every other watering.

Hey there all. Here are the pics for 31 days. MMMM. They smell delicious, it a Citrus Blueberry mix. Cannabis is truely a wonderful, wonderful plant. I will start flowering tomorrow, using the Metal Halide, as kind of an experiment. I have been hearing good things about the MH during flowering. We will see how it goes....

Peace :hippy:

Hi there all! Sorry about the hiatus, but I'm here with an update on the Blueberry Cinderella's. They are on day 35 of flowering now, with full nutrients now. Out of the 7 plants, 3 turned out to be female. They all showed within a week of flowering. I am using 4 tsp of Tiger Bloom along with 1 tsp of Grow Big once a week, and 2 tablespoons of Big Bloom in off waterings. I also decided to go with the MH for flowering. So far, so good. I havent noticed any difference in bud size in comparision with the HPS.

On a side note: I was pretty sad to see some seeds half way down on the far right plant. Must be a hermie :(. Some of the temps got up in the high 90's on somedays when the air conditioner unit did not kick on. But, on the bright side, I only see a few and I will be able to grow this crop again sometime soon.

Any suggestion on the hermie? Should I let it grow out and risk pollenation of the others or harvest not?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreiciated.

Thank you.
