I'm not in the mood to ramble on as I may be apt to doing, but I felt like sharing some hard work with the world. I'm going to start by saying this is a 400w MH grow from clone to harvest, (recently switched hoping for increase in resin and terpene production) in 100% organic soil system with help from my friends at BioBizz.
Soil is BioBizz All-Mix system, also using BioGrow, BioBloom and TopMaxx. Sweet used very sparingly mostly to feed the organic soil more than the plant.
Pics here are at day 7 of 12/12, sorry no good close up to see pistils, but nothing much anyway. BTW, I realize that these were taken under HPS light, but it was switched to Sun Master Warm Deluxe within a day or 2 of pics being taken.

These pics are of day 25. Flowering really kicked in and resin production already started to kick into gear. Really liking the MH, also makes it easier for a stoner like me to diagnose with a full spectrum of light. EVERYTHING looks N deficient to me under HPS.

These are of Day 39. I can't believe sometimes how quickly this shit packs on weight, even in an organic soil system. I really don't grow it for the weight as much as the quality of the smoke. Smooth and pungent but VERY fruity. Called Mango, but it reminds me of jolly ranchers or some other really fruity hard candy. Anyways, here they are.

Not much to say here except my mouth is watering and I'm ticking the days of the calendar in anticipation at this point. I'm sure many of you can relate. Anyway, I just wanted to put these up in case anyone thought I fell off the radar or anything. Always lurking just outside of sight. If anyone has anything they want to add or ask or tell me I did something stupid, it's all welcome here. Thanks for peepin'

thats a 400 w? wow! I switched to HPS because my MH made my buds very leafy. But I will agree with you and say the resin production is better under the MH
going to be some dank smoke!!

Thanks for the kudos. Yeah man, single 400w. I have been doing sea of green with this strain for a minute, and finally decided to grow some creatures. I got em to about 48" or so and lollipopped the bottom half of the plant off. Not because i'm a masochist, but because the light doesn't even come close to penetrating my canpoy. Reminds me of the military days in rainforest, you can hardly see in front of you. All done on purpose tho, just wanted to see how large I could get some organic indoor colas to be. Thanks for droppin in

That shit is looking killer man!! I am a huge fan of the Mango strain myself. The way that the mango puts on size so quickly shocks my everytime. The dense crystals compacted one on top of another. The aroma that tickles the nose and wets the appitite as you sit there wishing you could strap a nug to your face and use it as a mustach. The goddly candy like taste that tantilizes the tastebuds as you start to inhale. The smoothness of the well-flushed organic hit as it enters your lungs, and the chinky, red-eyed, stoned ass, muchie having mofo it leaves in its wake. Got 2 Luv It

400W MH all thru veg...then 400W HPS all thru flower?
....correct?
irydyum
06-29-2009, 07:04 AM
No, I'm sorry I made it confusing. They were vegged for about 10 weeks under 400w MH. Moved them into flower, which for the first week had a 400w Hortilux Eye HPS. Beginning week 2 of flowering, changed out the HPS for a Sun Master Warm Deluxe MH, and finished with that.

Just wanted to share a few more pics of my ladies, flush has begun, so there won't be many more pics. Alive that is.
One more thing. I tried a technique where you shave the top of a cola or side bud or whatever off, just like topping but you only take a tiny portion off because i was told by a veteran grower that this will cause buds to fatten up. I did this in about week 4 of flowering. I think it may have worked.I have grown the same clones through about 5 harvests and never seen foxtailing on the tops like some of these. They seem to be pushing calyxs in all different directions. I like it, and they seem to be a little denser also.
If anyone else has experience or experimented with this I would love to hear about it.
Pic 1- Full plant pic
Pic 2- Close up of topped side nug with visible foxtailing
Pic 3- 3 headed monster
Pic 4- A few of my ladies sunbathing, or rather fake baking as it were.

3 gallon. I start in a small peat pot, transplant to a 6" square, and then to a round 3 gallon right before flower. Always leaves plenty of root space for expansion, and the organic amendments in the soil will last right up to the end of flower.

Definately looking nice!!! How tall were the ladies when you switched them over to flower? Do you lollipop all your grows to maximize top cola yield?
irydyum
07-05-2009, 05:57 PM
They were about 2' when I triggered, and I did cut a bunch of the bottom growth. Partially to try to force more up to the colas, but also because I had such a dense canopy that light just wasn't reaching the bottoms.
Thanks for stopping in!

Had to update. Killed em' all. Completely intentional, they are soon going to fulfill their ultimate destiny where they will live out their days behind glass before taking up residence in some lucky smokers lungs. Mostly mine :rastasmoke:
Heres some of the pics from chop day and then one of the dried product.

"You can't be talkin like that when the lion gets here..." I can watch that movie daily and it doesn't get old.
I just move em into some of the big bell mason jars, open em daily for long enough to stink up my house, then seal em back up.
I don't leave much stem with the buds, not a big fan. I'd rather have a quarter pound nice dense popcorn than a bunch of em stuck on stems to make em look bigger.

BTW, if the stars align like I want them too, I should be moved in around Dallas by the end of the year. Look out Texas, im comin to get ya!!

as far as curing, that's pretty much what i do. i'm always curious because i can't seem to get them to smell good. i'm sure my method needs some tweaking to say the least. lol.
that's a good method, trimming buds off the big stems. i notoiced that about my last harvest. sure they look cool, but why?!
i bet it helps the rest of the drying and the cure even up.
that's sweet that you are moving around this way, if the stars align. you might not like it, being from cali. hell i'm from here and starting not to like it! the people for the most part are pretentious, in dallas itself anyway. texans for the most part are warm and welcoming.
what part of cali are you from (or moving from)?

I lived in dallas for a while about 5 years back. I'm not currently in cali, but from there just north of San Diego.
I agree about the pretension of Dallas, but I plan to be off the grid to the north. I'm not one to be seen out in public too often, so they can go ahead with their fancyness while I smoke myself to oblivious happyness.
"Can't see it from my house" comes to mind there.

Good Day one and all..
You mentioned you cut some of the top off of the cola.
Can I do this to my plants now???? They are in their 3 week of flower and looking real good, but always room for improvement.
Can you explain in more detail what I should do to the Cola,
Did you cut only the cola or all big bud sites???
Good Growin

It is merely speculation at this point that it works. Very subjective. I got larger colas that were fatter and denser this time around. I need to try it with some other strains before I can validate that it works broad spectrum.
What I did is took a sharp pair of scissors and literally shaved about the top millimeter of the cola off. Took hairs and a very TINY amount of the actual bud material, all in all it was less material than would amount to a seed coming off the top. Very little. Recovered within a day or 2, then began pushing foxtails out from all sides of the bud.
If you are going to try this, I would recommend you do it to one or 2 top or near top buds and compare it for yourself. If you do decide to do it, I think I did it in about week 4 on an 8 week strain.
Let me know if you try it and what it does for you.

Well deserved bro:thumbsup:. That pic of the dried buds after i waited and waited and waited for the link to open, it looks like if ya touch it, you would cut yourself. A good pic such as that one and a slow dial-up and im waiting a lot, but very much worth it for sure. Its as frosty as glass man:wtf:but boy id bet that was some fun smoking bro:hippy:
Im glad this baby popped up as iv never seen it. Never seen or smoked it before either. I think its the most frosty looking buds iv ever seen man. Not that iv grown lots of strains before, but been smoking a long ass time. Was it a couch-lock, just looks like its gotta be, only for its mad looking glassy appearance? Living in this shit place, there are no opportunities for me to get that quality of smoke.
Thanks bro, very enjoyable picture thread:jointsmile:
