hey guys just joined the site to get alot more knowledge about growing. i just started my first grow about 3 weeks ago and it seems to be going good. i just used some bag seeds to get a feel for it before i go all out. my plants about 6 inches tall (seems alittle tall i think i started with the light to high) but there seems to be a good amount of bugs running around so im going to go pick up some sticky paper. just wondering if anyone knows if this will get rid of them or if there is a better way. but anyway ill keep you guys posted on how my plants doing and hopfully have some pics up so you can see and give me some feedback and tips for future grows.

It depends on what kind of bugs you have...Could you describe them?

some look like little tiny spiders but only have 6 legs and other are almost like gnats. ive never seen them doing any harm to the plant but i just figure they cant be good

are you noticing any sticky and spotty residue on any of your leaves? You sure they aren't nesting in nodes of your plants?

This may be a helpful link for you,

Identifying Common Plant Pests (http://www.hydroponics-at-home.com/plant-pests.html)

I feel like your gnat like bugs are white flies and I believe your yellow sticky strips should help with that. However, if you see anything on your plants and you're not flowering yet, spray them down and give them a good wipe with some diluted dish soap and a paper towel. That's what we do at my work. Either that or isopropyl alcohol. They both work great for dissolving bugs and their eggs! I hope nothing is nesting in your soil...that would SUCK!

Hope this helps,

SMG

Probably wouldn't hurt to get a quality fly strip from your local hardware store either...Catch those little effs before they can relay any eggs!

GET SOME regulater!

Show those little punks what's up! At my greenhouse we had this REALLY cool idea. We bought and released these tiny predatory wasps that attack and lay their eggs in common household plant pests such as white flies and caterpillars and the like, causing them to explode when the eggs hatch. It's pretty sweet, and it worked like a charm! Not to mention we put yellow sticky patches all over the damn place. I'm sure that had a significant impact on our pest population.
