View Full Version : does FLUSHING produce BIGGER BUDS?

i know flushing a hydrosystem a week or two before harvest is good to get all the salts out of the roots and the stored nutes in the plant. and have the final product taste alot better.

my question also is does the buds tend to have a final growth spurt when you flush with ph adjusted water? do they fatten up more? will the flushing of nutes slow down the final growth?

It does nothing to growth, just makes everything tastier

so if you flush for 1-2 weeks, it does not "slow" growth at all?

Not that I have ever noticed Kuri. It does make a big difference in the taste. I think the buds really don't pack on the size the last 2 weeks just more trichomes but that's what we all want more of anyway. The top of the trichomes just get larger and rounder then turn cloudyâ?¦..then you pick them.. They will continue to grow and change color some of them while they are drying but that is expected.

FYI
I have noticed that you can get a seond and third explosion of growth at the top of the buds, especially the main colas... making these deformed looking, asymetrical, lopsided, monster BUDS if you fert all the way to the end...

Water cure will take care of the nutrients.

what is water cure?

water cure is when you have reached the final weeks prior to harvesting....you water the plants with plain water ph balanced so as to flush away all the chemicals from the pot where the plant is growing.....its purpose is to remove the chemical taste that the buds will have if water cure is not used :)

water + 25% nutrient mix...... This means that every time you water your plants you have to add al least 10% and at most 25% of nutrients....and of course more when they need it..... This will actually leach out the old nutrients better then watering just with plain water and also prevent nutrient lock.... sometimes when you water with plain water (i.e. 0% nutrients) the plants "think" there is a problem with nutrients supply and they try to retain as much nutrients as possible... the stem becomes dark and the leafs look burnt or drooping or .. just unhealthy.... To prevent this from happening you can always add a little bit of nutrients to your water and prevent nutrient lock in a first place..... If you see on this Grow Guide that I talk about plain water, you must change that to water + 25% nutrient mix..... this also applies to the end week of the bloom cycle when for the last week or two you "leach" out the nutrients before harvest.... "leaching" also means adding 10% to 25% of nutrients.....

I don't think anything has been given a definative answer

just a couple of different ideas :rastasmoke: on different methods

This one was dredged up from a while ago, but at my age everything seems like yesterday :stoned:

anyone used worm juice... i have worm castings, but don't add any sawd or cardboard, so there is juice that is dispensed. I hear using it is absolutely 100% great for the and all plants. But I have heard that using too much is pointless, only so much is affective. some have said water it down... some have said add it to a sprayer and spray a mist...some say on the plants...some say not on the plants. just looking for opinions.

I know you can't burn the plants with worm castings or juice, not possible. but you can burn using most nutrients purchasable from stores or hydorponic shops. at least that is what i have been told... so it brings up a another question I got. I want to use it with some left over nutrients i have from my hydro grow (i'm growing outdoor w/ fox farm soil now) :) love the sun...10,000 lumens/sq ft. can't beat it. anyways any tips on these mixing together.

I normally don't like to brake topic in a thread, but i like to do it when i see people posting that know what their talking about.

So...also anyone got tips and mainly COMPARISONS on making your plants larger, bushier or taller.... i know topping makes more small buds...but haven't ever tried growing w/out topping. i want to. i hear the buds are much larger, but don't know if there is a difference quality wise. i would assume there isn't cuz i don't top my apple tree ;).

It is much more important to me to grow good quality weed than good quantity...but obviously both is the goal.
