I've been troubleshooting here at CanCom for a few months, and still I have problems deciphering the other form.
Since I had a couple of days of free time lately, I came up with these revised forms. (one for soil, one for hydro)
If you think this is easier to use or understand, or if there is anything I missed, please chime-in.
Also, if the mods would prefer I could start a fresh thread for these, but I never got a response when I asked.

-Soil Grows-

What is your experience level? (first timer, novice, experienced...)

Your Equipment:
1.) Type and wattage of lights. (MH, HPS, CFL's, tube fluorescents, LED's)
2.) Distance from tops?
3.) Reflector type? (cool tube set-up, bat wing, enclosed reflector, bare bulb...)
4.) Is there a consistent fresh air supply?
5.) Do you have an exhaust fan and a circulation fan?

9.) Method of checking water ph. (ph pen, test strips, aquarium test kit...)
10) Method of adjusting water ph. (phosphoric acid, white vinegar, hydrated lime, PH Up...)
11) Specific brand and N-P-K ratio for each bottle. List dosages (quantity per gallon) and current feeding schedule.
12) Any additives or tea's? (Superthrive, CalMag, molasses, Mother's Earth...)
13) Are your ph levels stable, or do they fluctuate?
14) What is your ingoing water's ph? ...your runoff ph?
15) Do you foliar feed? If so, with what, how often, and at what time do you spray?

Your growroom:
16) Indoors or outdoors?
17) What size of closet, room or hut?

-Hydro Grows-

What is your experience level? (first timer, novice, experienced...)
What type of hydro set-up are you running?

Your Equipment:
A) Type and wattage of lights. (MH, HPS, CFL's, tube fluorescents, LED's)
B) Distance from tops?.
C) Reflector type? (cool tube set-up, bat wing, enclosed reflector, bare bulb...)
D) Is there a consistent fresh air supply?
E) Do you have an exhaust fan and a circulation fan?
F) Size of reservoir?

Your nutrients and water:
G) Source of water. (tap or filtered)
H) Specific brand and N-P-K ratio for each bottle. List dosages (quantity per gallon) and current feeding schedule.
I) What is the ec/ppm of your unadjusted tap (or filtered) water?
J) What is the ec/ppm of your nutrient solution?
K) What is the temperature of your nutrient solution? (high and low temps)
L) Does your ec/ppm show a rise or fall when you do your daily PPM check?
M) Does the ph fluctuate?
N) Do you foliar feed? If so, with what, how often, and at what time do you
spray? (Just after lights come on, just before they go out...)

Fill out the form and someone will get back to you.....If I were to guess I would say a Mn(Manganese) or Ca (Calcium) deficiency.

PS. I liked the new form by RT so I posted it. You will be the first to fill it in that I know (if you do)

Yea, we need a bit more info.

When you say you used "some" organic ferts and they "didn't work" I'm guessing that you used too much, too often, and the more you use, the more damage you will get.

Even organic ferts will burn the crap out of your plants if you use too much.

Hi here is my novice plant diary ;0)

Plant Diary

April 28-29
soaked 9 seeds in distilled water 24 hrs

April 30
planted 9 seeds in peat pellets

May 2
Himalayan seed sprouted no other shows signs of life

May 3
one other plant sprouts no others show signs of life

May 5
planted both in individual 5 gallon buckets - organic miracle grow planting soil mixed with perlite. Watered plants

Construction: large tub to hold two 5 gallon buckets. Three lights 6500k daylight using two clamp reflector units and one hang over.

Lights three inches from plants.

Growth todate three inches plus.

May 8
Both plants have third tier growth propped soil both leaned slightly from weight

May 9
Upgraded lights GE daylight 100 (26watt) 6500k - 1600 lumens cool natural light CFL / Himalayan and indigo has three reflectors total 300 (78watt) 19500k and 4800 lumens

watered plants

The upgrade of lights/reflectors will help in later stages of plant resin thc content should maximize along with a stronger stem and better light as plant bushes.

May 11
Healthy and growing straight

May 15
Strong much fuller leaves longer - watered plants

May 19
Growing bushy Himalayan strong stem

May 22
Plants show strong stem growth - bushy green healthy leaves growing outward towards light fan leaves grown to inch plus - amazed at the sweet scent almost intoxicating.

May 23
Watered plants

May 31
Watered plant - Himalayian leaves dry bottom leaves orange dying other plant
very strong healthy.

June 1
Transplantedto individual tubs for optimal bushing.

June 3
Rearranged plant lights due to burning of leaves too close before also placed in individual rubbermaid bins for easier care - bushy and growing some leaves dried up yellow too close to light problem should be resolved with new structure - watching for any other problems to ensure health of plants.
Watered throughly both plants.

June 7
Watered plants removed dead leaves
Looking healthy.

June 9
Power went out estimated at 6pm
Power back on at 12:50am roughly 7hrs off

June 11
Watered plants healthy growth status.

June 16
Himalyian 26 inches
Unknown 19 inches

Watered plants look healthy
Need to construct better light holders for plants too tall for current.

June 17
Constructed better lighting situation for plants - moved lights to avoid burning.

June 18
Used nutrient organic miracle grow to solve Nitrogen defency. Observing plants overall reaction to addative.

June 21
Watered other plant need Epsom salt lacks magnesium

June 22
Watered Himalayian
Himalayian 29.5 tall
Other 22 tall

Forget the plant diary or posting anything else. Fill out the form posted with your information if you want to get some help. Not trying to be rude but you'd be surprised how many people just come with pictures and two lines of text and want answers, and bump their post every 5 minutes. If we don't have ALL the info, we can't help you.

Over all, your plants don't look too bad. The new growth seems to be growing in ok.

Is the dead spots on the leaves where you burnt them with the light?

Leaves that are damaged like that won't recover....but that's fine. A few burnt leaves is nothing to panic over. But be extra careful that you don't burn the growing tops.

I would look into getting a 400 or 600 watt HPS light for your flowering if that's an option for you.

homegrownD
06-23-2009, 02:34 AM
so you think the coloring is just the lights too close? I read it could be nutrient lack or too much? Do I clip the colored leaves or just let them dry up and die off naturally

I will look into the lights you suggested thanks for the help I appreciate it

I had the lights away for a few days now
it seems they turned brown in the middle if the
leaves more after I put organic miracle grow plant
food in it - it will be two months veg come July 5 -
should I begin to flower or wait to see if they recover more
- thx for your help it's very much appreciated.

Well, the major damage is localized to that one spot it looks like...and you did mention that your burnt them with the light...I think.

But I can also see that all around the plant there is burnt leaf tips...that would indicate your using too much ferts.

Don't cut the dead stuff off. If you put them in 12/12 now, your plant will be flowering in a few weeks and all those large fan leaves will drop off on their own eventually anyway.

THanks I will start the 12/12 cycle

If you are getting a little nute burn on the tips...,

I suggest flushing with 6.5 PH balanced water, and continue to water with 6.5 until signs of recovery show.

Then try some half strength bloom ferts.

looks like some over-watering, maybe high humidity, too ? ... and, I sure hope you're not using distilled water ... try adding Cal-Mag+, 5-10ml/gallon ... don't 'overlove' your plants, it's a weed ... it will survive most anything, except Man's 'good intentions' ... good luck ... :smokin:

distilled water lacks Calcium and Magnesium so it has to be added back to the water with Cal-Mag or a similar product. Distilled water, if I'm not mistaken, doesn't have any trace elements in it either. Probably better to use bottled water.

i see.

i use pond water alot of times now that they are about a foot tall.
