Little green balls on bottom of each pistil?

Hi,

I opened one calyx and noticed that it had a little green ball inside, on the bottom of the pistil. Is this normal for a female plant? Or is a hermie a possibility?


If anyone can bother to open one calyx and check it out, would be nice.

Inside of the calyx is the unfertilized embryo. The pistols (hairs) are tubes that catch the pollen and transport it to the embryo. First grain of pollen wins the pollination race. Once pollinated, the pistols die and 5ish weeks later there's a viable seed.

If a calyx is pollinated, how long does it take for the pistil to die?

Because I'm now on 4 and half weeks flowering and some pistils are turning brown on the lower branches, hopefully not hermies...

Takes a couple a day or so after pollination, and that calyx's pistils will start to fade.

4 1/2 to 6 weeks for viable seeds.

Once the pistils age, or are damaged or contaminated...they'll die-off. This is a normal part of growing old.
Old calyx's do not transform into nanners. Nanners are nanners, calyx's are calyx's.
