FOUND A DROOPING YELLOW LEAF TODAY ON THE COLA...LIGHT TUG AND IT CAME OFF...AND MOLD ON STEM...WTF..RAN IN AND READ EVERY FORUM I COULD FIND ..NEW WORD FOR ME...BUD ROT .
I OPENED THE SPOT BEING CAREFUL AND TOOK OUT SMALL BUD THAT WAS DAMP. AND MOVED THE FANS IN THE ROOM TO HIT THIS PLANT BETTER.
SEAMS TO HAVE WORKED AND FEELS DRY OR NORMAL COMPAIRED TO THE DAMP SLIME FEELING THE SMALL BUD HAD.
WEVE KEPT THE PLANT DRY SINCE ITS ALMOST DONE AND HAIRS STARTING TO TURN BROWN AND I REMEMBERED WHILE FILLING A 5 GAL WITH MOLASSAS AND WATER SPLASHED THE PLANT WHEN TAKING THE HOSE OUT A FEW DAYS AGO. ITS BEEN SUNNY AND FANS ON MED. AND IN A GREENHOUSE.
HOW THE F CAN YA GROW OUTSIDE IN THE RAIN WITHOUT THIS DOING IN A CROP ?
I THOUGHT SPIDER MITES WERE BAD .
LOOKS LIKE ALL MY READING TODAY THAT PICKING THE SPOT OR BUD AND KEEPING THE AIR DRY AND FANS IS THE ONLY CURE...AS FOR SPRAYS ...ITS TOO CLOSE TO HARVEST.??? HERE IS THE PLANT AND ABOUT 1/8TH WAS INVOLVED SO FAR.
MY BIG QUESTION TO ALL IS HOW ABOUT CAMPDEN THAT IS USED FOR WINE MAKING ETC. ONE TAB IN A SPRAY BOTTLE .
WE WOULD MIX WITH WATER AND SPRAY STUFF WE WANTED TO BE MOLD FREE ETC. AND IT ONLY WORKS FOR A DAY OR SO .? AND WORKED VERY WELL FOR WINE .. SULFITES . ? POSSIBLE.
JUST A IDEA.I HAVENT SEEN A EDABLE MOLD SPRAY YET LOL.:beatdeadhorse::beatdeadhorse::beatdeadhorse:: chainsaw::chainsaw::chainsaw:

Seriously does anyone know a good preventative for bud rot if your flowering carries into the rainy season?

HUMIDITY WAS MY PROBLEM ... OREGON NORTH SIDE OF MOUNTIAN OUTSIDE IN POLY GREENHOUSE...
I WAS TURNING FANS OFF AT NIGHT...NO MORE...LEAVE ON LOW AND I NEEDED MORE FANS THAT MOVE.
SEAMS FANS AT END ARNT ENOUGH SO I ADDED FOR 4 TOTAL TO HIT ALL THE PLANTS...
SEE MY NEW PIC AND YOU CAN SEE I NEED A BIGGER GREENHOUSE AS THE PLANTS ARE OVER 8FT NOW AND GOT ALOT BIGGER THAN I THOUGHT..ITS MY FIRST MEDICAL GROW.
YOU CAN SEE THE SPOTS MISSING IN THE BIG BUDS ON LEFT FRONT I PICKED OUT THE SLIME MOLD BUD ROT.:jawdropper:
IN 103 HEAT I WOULD MIST EARLY AM ONLY . THATS FINE AND FEEDING THAT WAY IS GREAT.
WE ARE IN 50S AT NIGHT AND 80S IN THE DAY.
LOTS OF CLOSABLE VENTS HELPS ALOT ALSO.
BIG BUD FLOWERING IS THE ISSUE..IF OUTSIDE I WOULDNT GET THE BIG BUD.. AND I GET THEM BIGGER THAN MOST...I LET THEM DO WHAT THEY WANT LOL..BIGGER ROOM NEXT TIME. MORE FANS ON LOW. MOVING AIR STOPS DEW EVEN WHEN HUMID. FAN LEAVES ARNT MY PROB..ONLY IN FAT MOIST BUDS.:chainsaw: THE PIC IS OF 5 PLANTS......LOL

Thanks everyone for stopping by and leaving a message. Pyro is right about high humidity being a problem but other things can drag your plant's immmunity down as well and therefore make it more vulnerable to Alll sorts of prblems including bud rot. I consider perfect humidity in my grow about 30%. My favorite mold and mildew preventative is Serenade........follow instructions EXACTLY.....stuff is strong!
Fyi, that bud was broken in half vertically so the mold could be seen. From the 'outside" of the bud everything looked normal. Pyro mentioned pulling on a leaf and it pulled right off. That was the same way I discovered the bud rot. I don't attempt to fix problem at that stage; all moldy parts were dcestroyed: about 3 branches wortth.

MAN EVEN WITH 4 FANS AND 2 ELEC HEATERS THE HUMIDITY OF 100 PERCENT THE LAST FEW WEEKS HERE SUCKS....FANS ON FULL AND HEATERS YA STILL FIND WET MOLD SPOTS IN THE BEAUTIFUL BUDS THAT ARE A FEW WEEKS AWAY TO HARVEST....SMALL ONES (I CHECK TWICE A DAY - RETIRED) AND I USE A FUNGICIDE ON THOSE SPOTS AFTER PICKING ... CAREFULY PULL SMALL BUDS AWAY FROM THE STEM AND THATS WHERE THE MOLD STARTED HERE INSIDE BEFORE YA GET THE ABOVE PIC MOLD BALLS.
WEVE MANAGED TO SLOW MOLD ENOUGH TO FINISH NOW THAT THE SUN IS BACK ....THANKS JAH LOL... WE STILL LOST A FEW OUNCES OF KUSH
THE REASON IM POSTING IS TO HELP OTHERS THAT MAY HAVE TO FIGHT THIS ALSO.
THE HUMIDITY OUTSIDE IS AND WILL GET WORSE IN THE NORTH WEST SO I PULLED IN A GREENHOUSE DOCTOR LOL..
SIMPLE AND 100 PERCENT CURE FOR US ??????
 FIRE  WEVE ADDED A SMALL 12 X 12 FIREBOX WOOD STOVE ....VENTED OUTSIDE AND INSTALLED THE RIGHT WAY.
DRYES IT OUT FAST AND CAN KILL YOUR PLANTS SO BE CAREFUL NOT TO OVER HEAT ...JUST DRY IT OUT INSIDE.. VENT WELL AND USE THE TOP TO MAKE HOT TODDIES...OR SOME SPECIAL TEA.....
WE DO A SMALL FIRE IN THE EVE AND ADD A 1/2 STERNO TYPE LOG BEFORE BED AND SIMPLY PUT.....
SAVED THE FARM LOL..
LOL I JUST PICTURED SOME OUTDOORS FARMER WITH SMALL POLY TENTS WITH MINI STOVES TRYING TO DRY OUT LIVE BUDS ALL OVER A HILLSIDE LOL
GOOD LUCK TO ALL
HAPPY TRAILS

PS IVE READ A POST THAT SAYS AFTER HARVEST STERLIZE THE ROOM LOL...ALL YA DO IS OPEN A WINDOW AND YA GOT THOUSANDS OF MOLD SPORES LOL JUST KEEP HUMIDITY DOWN.

Fark!!! It looks like some of my ladies have bud rot and/or the last foliar feeding burned some buds. I am so POed, all this time and effort, the stinking up of the neighborhood with skunky smells, and now this, all my work could just shrivel away.

:beatdeadhorse::beatdeadhorse::beatdeadhorse::beat deadhorse::beatdeadhorse::beatdeadhorse::beatdeadh orse::beatdeadhorse::beatdeadhorse:MAN WE FEEL FOR YA...
AS YA SEE IN MY ABOVE BLOGS IVE DONE EVERYTHING I CAN FIND IN THE BOOKS BUT ONE !
WEVE ADDED A OZONE GENERATOR TO (KILL MOLD) AND ITS SPORES
SO TO FIGHT AND WIN THIS WAR .......WEVE HAD TO ...
1.. PICK OUT ALL MOLD OFF THE PLANTS AND OR REMOVE THE BRANCH THATS INFECTED...IF YA PICK OR CUT USE A SPRAY FUNGICIDE ALSO TO KILL SPORES (SULPHER) & (PEROXIDE)WORKED BEST IN OUR TESTS ON GREY MOLD. AND CHECK EVERY DAY FOR MORE TO CATCH IT EARLY IF YA CAN.
THIS IS WHAT IVE LEARNED ON A FEW WEEKS FINDING ROT ALSO AND HITTING THE NET FOR SALVATION....LOL
2.. LOTS OF FANS ON EVERY BUD.
3..LOWER HUMIDITY OF GIVE UP NOW.
4..OZONE GENERATORS (USE AS DIRECTED) OR MAKE YOUR OWN WITH OLD NEON SIGN.
5.. WE ALSO ARE SPRAYING THE PLANTS JUST AS THEY START TO FLOWER WITH A FUNGICIDE . NOT WHEN THE BUDS ARE FORMED UNLESS YA NEED TO SPRAY A ROTTING BUD OR SPOT SPRAY.
AFTER ALL THAT THE WOOD STOVE AND OZONE HELPED US THE MOST.
HAPPY TRAILS

I am tol baking soada works well in the late stages of flowering to combat bud rot(botyrytis). Is this true? if so what would be the best way to administer? as a deterent??? or as a treatment???

I diislike the baking soda solution, having tried it and not getting even decent results imo. It is supposed to change the ph of the leaf (used diluuted as a spray) to somethimg ike 9 which PM isn't crazy about. I use Serenade once a week with lights off and use a dehumidifier to control my rh. Also....good care willl lead to a healthy plant which can fight off funguses and disease. I love growing indoors as I love to control everything.
PS....The sodium in baking soda probably isn't great for plants either....guess.
PSS Cute pup.

You're right Weedhound, good care is the best preventative measure. Each year outdoors I usually find at least one spot of bud rot. I just remove the infected area and dry it out real good.
Also, feeding (foliar and soil) with a compost tea really helps them to build up a resistance to disease. This may not be the best choice for indoor growing but outdoors, you can saturate everything with the tea and they love it.

hey much appreciated weed hound:thumbsup:
I have decided to not spray and i am going to just continue cutting out any areas of botrytis that i find. Hopefully i can manage this way. We have had rain for the last few days and it is suppose 2 continue 4 like another 7 or 8. Not making things easy...but just how it goes i guess. Thanks for the insight.

sulfer burners are usually used to keep bugs away but they also work well with mold,as long as its not gotten way out of controll but it works as a good preventative, every one told me back in the day that it wouldnt work, then i spoke with one of the masters and he told me whats up.i always had high humidity in my old town and ran into a lot of trouble, gave a burner a try on my next grow before any mold even had a chance to develop and never had a problem again.
---some body mentioned that a ozone generator prevents mold? please explain,im interested.from waht i understand the bulb catches odor molecules and then burns them off generating o3 wich will turn into co2 if left alone in a sealed room.for the record i must say any one is is as paranoid as i am should invest in one. i have the c.a.p model and its the shit.

Guys I don't know ANYTHING about either using sulfer or ozone; haven tried either one.
Perhaps someone more knowledable can chime in with some info?

6 weeks into flower have 6 plant 4-5 mo noticed 2 of them with rot humidity is 60-83 according to the meter but i am not sure how i can lower it gets so humid on Oregon Coast. my i cannot really plug in anything more thant my 3 600s without the breaker going..
i do have a bottle of serenade i got for PM but have not been using it.
should i just turn off 1 of the lights and purchase a dehumi?
this is my first grow and it is Medical.
i have not taken them off yet not sure to cut the branch below the infection or just clip the buds or just to tear pieces off what works best i think i still have 2 weeks to go for the infected ones others may be longer strains.
