I was wondering what was the best organic soil for planting some germinated seeds in.

Pro-Mix... It's neutral and you would have less chance to burn them with the initial fertilizing..... I'm sure there will be other suggestions.. They are sure to be as good if the mix is 0-0-0 to a bit higher dose of NPK. Thing is to not really be in a hurry!!!!

I agree with the above, something soil less works well. Maybe try peat pellets? Just a suggestion though!

I bought some of this Miracle-Gro&#153 Seed Starting Potting Mix | Canadian Tire (http://www.canadiantire.ca/AST/browse/2/OutdoorLiving/FertilizersGrassSeed/SoilsMixes/PRD~0594873P/Miracle-Gro%2526%2523153%2BSeed%2BStarting%2BPotting%2BMix .jsp) but didn't like it. It was too fluffy and you REALLY had to keep your eye on it so it don't dry out. It would seem to dry out completely within hours and I'm way too lazy to deal with that.

I tried those peat cups too, same thing. They dried out overnight and getting them moist again is tricky cuz the water seems to just bead off peat and not really moisten it. Might try using some organic soap to break the surface tension in the water so it can soak in next time

But, like I said, I'm too lazy for that. I just use a regular no-frills potting soil. Garden Club Potting Soil Mix | Canadian Tire (http://www.canadiantire.ca/AST/browse/2/OutdoorLiving/FertilizersGrassSeed/SoilsMixes/PRD~0594545P/Garden%2BClub%2BPotting%2BSoil%2BMix.jsp)

I mix my soil with coco bricks The Original Soil Block, Premium Coir Potting Soil | Canadian Tire (http://www.canadiantire.ca/AST/browse/2/OutdoorLiving/GardeningTools/Gardening/PRD~0594689P/The%2BOriginal%2BSoil%2BBlock%252C%2BPremium%2BCoi r%2BPotting%2BSoil.jsp) to give it that nice spongy absorbent texture.

I fill my cups with this mix, water them well, then I plant my seed in them and forget about them. Check them in 4 or 5 days and give them some water if they seem to be drying out.
