Just got back from an interview I had. Thought it went really well until right at the end when he said that if I am successful I will have to go for a medical and a drug test. Up until this point I wasn't too worried because usually companies take weeks to even decide if they want to employ you then another week or so to organise the drug test etc so I thought I was safe but then he goes "Yeah, you'll get a phone call tomorrow telling you if you've been successful. If you have, we'll book you in for your medical/drug test straight away".

So I find out if I got in tomorrow and if I have I reckon I've got about a week, maybe two before my drug test.

He said they would make an appointment with a doctor and I go and get it done there. Hopefully the doctors will have a full schedule and I won't get an appointment for a good few weeks.

Does anyone know what kind of test I'll get?

I am a fairly regular smoker so I think if this test is within the next week I'll deffinately fail and even if it's within 2 weeks I think there's a pretty high chance I'll fail.

Oh well :(

Start flushing now. From what I've heard, many companies mandate that you must take the UA within 2 business days of accepting the job offer. That's what happened to me.
Stall accepting as long as you can, and I think most here will probably tell you that subbing is your best option at this point (you didn't mention how much you smoke, age, weight, metabolism, etc though, so it's hard to tell from the above).

Good luck

I meant start practicing/preparing to flush now (flushing ahead of time won't help).

If you are taking the test at the doctor's office I m wondeing if it will be a version of the at hometest? I wonder if this doc would have the more sophisiticated equipment at his office such as being able to perform a gc/mc confirmation. He probably sends your sample out.

Some jobs do state that you have 24-72 hours to be tested but I am starting a job and was informed I would be tested but was told as long as I took the UA before my official start date that would be fine. I had 25 days between offer and UA.

What type of position are you applying for?

Also everyone is different you may clean out metabolites at a higher rate or slower rate. Grab some home test through the internet or your local pharmacy to know where you stand.
