Hey all you vets, I have dual rubbermaids; double stacked 22 gallons painted black on the outside and lined with aluminum tape on the in. Both have passive ventilation on the bottom, roughly a 4 inch diameter hole cut and covered with mosquito netting. I taped a 1.5ft aluminum ducting piece to prevent light from escaping on the 1st, and about 1ft on the 2nd. Both have a 4in fan for the active ventilation, and both need to be moved up to a 6in; we're talking just regular personal fans here, not computer fans cuz I'm shitty when it comes to wiring. I put one in the back on my 1st rubbermaid and for some reason built it into the ceiling on the 2nd rubbermaid (ceiling being the top of the rubbermaid). Both have a certain type of construction to allow airflow and contain the light, the 2nd utilizing a cardboard box creation because of it's one design flaw (I though 'if hot air rises), while the 1st maintains the use of aluminum ducting (3ft). On the inside of each we have 5 26w CFL bulbs plugged indepently into 2 outlet strips via socket to socket adapters (purchased from local hardware stores or major retailers hardware sections). Now, I had modified the 1st from an original flaw it had, where I used 6 26w CFL and utilitzed a Y adapter; they hung downward and thus tragedy occurred. I am utilizing moisture absorbent soil, potting, along with 6in pots. For the drainage tub, I'm utilizing Frisbee Golf discs on two plants that are growing quite well in Tub 2, and store bought drain plates (3inWx12inL). I have bag seeds that I'm using as testers, trying to learn to do this right before I try the premiums. I have a sativa and Indica, both I've sexed as female (hope I'm correct on the indica). I used to have a partner, but he bought a motorcycle and has forsaken his duties; he switched them from 18/6 light cycle to a 12/12 about 3 weeks ago, whereupon I found this out and took full control of the project switching them back to the 18/6. They were on the 12/12 for about 5 days I believe; the indica has some bloom going on, and is not gaining much height. The sativa is growing fairly tall, almost 18 inches, and will need to switch to 12/12 here very shortly. They receive regular well water about every 1-1.5 days (I check the soil moisture), and just hope. There is some yellowing on the top leaves of the sativa, I rotate it 1/4 turn every day and hope its getting all the light it needs. I plan to build another rubbermaid with either 29 or 35 gallon tubs so I can get more light in that sunofagun; plus I gotta modify that damn hole in the top of the 2nd tub. The sativa is elevated 6-8 inches to increase light abosorbtion, while the indica is a robust 10-12 inches elevated to maximize light absorption. The 1st is a planting ground, while I hope the 2nd might be a flowering pit. I'll see as time goes on, get feedback, and figure out what parts of the process and notetaking are most beneficial.
