storing weed in a tin can?

I have a big tin can that used to hold a lot of tea (I drink a lot of tea) that seems to be a good place to store my weed. Is this a recommended way to store your weed, or is there something better about different storage containers (like glass jars)? I would preferably like to keep the smell down, and the tin can does a great job. Also, since the can stored tea leaves before the weed I figure that it is a good place to store herbs. Is this something that I just made up or is there some validity behind my assumption?

If it's air tight, go for it!

That's what will matter in looking for a stash box/jar.

I would prefer tin over glass, for the sole reason that tin will block out sunlight. This will prevent possible THC degradation from light.
