First of all, I'd like to say that I did search the forums and found no exact answer to my specific problem... and here it is:
I've been practicing heating my QF for anticipation of a drug test soon, and I have a couple of questions

1) What is the optimal time to stick it in the microwave? It says 10 seconds, but I stuck it in for 20. Did I go way too high? I don't want to screw the ONLY thing up I can with substitution (temperature). <--- OOPS I fucked up and after waiting 10 more minutes I now see the green line.

2) Would buying a normal glass or electric thermometer contaminate the quick fix? I only have one bottle and could rush out and get another, but I would prefer not to.

3) Will the heating pad keep it at 100 or OVER 100? OVER would mean I have to take it off at a specific time before the test right? I'm a skinny guy don't have too much body heat.

Like everyone else in this forum... I'll be worried 'till I get my test back.

The QF instructions state that the bottle be microwaved for 10 seconds but mic wattages vary from model to model.

As an example, the mic at the mini-mart by my house is so powerful, it took only 7 seconds to heat a bottle of Magnum synthetic (basicly a QF "clone") well over 100 degrees! It took nearly ten minutes for the green box to finally appear at the 100F mark. The overheat didnt seem to faze the Magnum though, as it still passed the integrity checks with flying colors.

i always advocate practicing with water. I spilled too much real stuff while I was pouring back from the sample cup to practice again.

The thermometers won't contaminate the quick fix.

Practice and you'll know (about the heating pads and how hot it gets).

Practice and do your pretend sample giving in a closed bathroom. Practice being quiet and efficient. See what the temp is every half hour and guestimate how long its going to take you to give your sample at the lab or facility.

Thanks for the suggestions yall. I have another question now:

What is the accepted range of temperature that the lab techs check when you give them your sample?

AAAAAND: Should I put on the "pouring cap" that came with the QF before I go to the test or will it leak? They shipped it with a closed cap and I know that you're supposed to squeeze it out in the bathroom so it sounds normal, but I don't want it to look like I pissed my pants in the waiting room either...

I've been practicing all morning and heated it up to 98 in the microwave and kept it at 96 under my cahones for nearly an hour. Now I'm trying a body warmer (it sticks to the QF bottle) and its still in the same place.

I'll keep everyone updated if I find a good method.

Also, the only time I was tested there was blue dye in the toilet and they tell you not to flush... should I pour the rest of the QF in there or will the dye change to blood red and simulate the death of me? Should I just piss in the toilet after I pour the QF in the cup?

Sorry for so many questions...

The flip/squirt cap is noisy and not all reliable. Use the plain cap instead.
Dont worry too much about the bluing in the toilet. Its there to prevent donors from scooping up the toilet water to dilute their sample. Pour your QF sample and leave. And remember to let the collector flush the toilet. Dont do it yourself!

Thanks toast!

So that means that I should just pour straight into the cup and they won't be suspicious because of no sound? Should I piss in the toilet too just so it doesn't look like I just stopped all of a sudden?

I usually pee in the toilet a little. I can usually keep the Qf around 98 degrees for up to 3 hours just storing it in my shorts.
If it gets to hot blow on it a little once you rour it in the cup. There will be a temp strip on the cup. If its a little low rub your thumb against your clothes for a few seconds and then hold your thumb against the temp strip. Walk out of the room when it says 98 degrees

Awesome. I've been practicing all day (even in class haha) and it seems that if I heat it up to 100 before the drive and taint it, I can retain a 98-96 for at least 30-45 min

So I took it and all went well... kept it at 96 by the time I actually had to 'piss'.

QF 5.7 did it's job and I now have a new job because of it! Thanks for all yalls help!

I'll use QF forEVER now.
