I'm a little late on posting this to consider it a legitimate "log", having only about 15 days or so left of flower, but here's my Master Kush plant at day 39. Had to tie up a lot of the branches to the main stem because they couldn't support the weight of the buds on their own. Enjoy!:thumbsup:

Nice looking plant there, DJ. :greenthumb: Master Kush is my favorite plant to grow so far.
Someone is going to have a lovely, fragrant summer.

This particular plant is a clone, but she was a mother that I am on the 5th generation (I think) from seed from Dutch Passion.

Thanks guys. Just wondering, since I know WH grows/has grown MK and now you also do crabbyback, does yours smell or taste like anything when its done?
I think my overall methods of both growing as well as drying and curing have improved substantially since my last successful MK harvest a little over a year ago, but I've never really had the buds taste or smell like anything. I grew some Purple Kush bagseed that had a great flavor to it, but the Master has left me somewhat disappointed in the taste. The stone is there, but I do enjoy a tasty bud and I feel its been lacking with my MK. I read on the kindgreenbuds(dot)com Strain Library that MK doesn't have a smell or taste, so is it just the strain, or have you guys had different results?

Got some pics from today, day 42. Not much difference from day 39 other than some more yellowing, but I got some nice shots of the buds for your all.:jointsmile:
I can't WAIT till this grow is over so I can stop battling this insane HEAT in my room day after day. Even with AC on max, the temp in the room is 88 and the water is at 82! I have been waiting for my 2 liter bottles of water to freeze, its taken over 12 hours! :wtf:

Thanks killa! That purple you posted pics of in my Purple Kush thread looked awesome, I'd love to be growing genes like that! This is easily the healthiest plant I've raised yet, so hopefully that will show in the yield. I am looking to get at least 5 oz to last me through the summer, my previous best is about 4.5 (I think), but this is the biggest one I've had go full term. The last Master I flowered around this time last year was bigger, but I killed her at only 5 weeks in by adding too much sucanat which fermented or something and rotted the roots clean off. :( I've been using Botanicare's Sweet supplement since day 1 of flower this go around and it has really made the buds bulk up something fierce.

The end of this grow could not be more of a nightmare. Not only am I battling insane heat, but now its absolutely pouring outside and my basement is flooding.:(:wtf:
Good thing I only have like 5 days left. I checked trichs yesterday and they are almost all cloudy, and some are amber.

Wow, is one of the only words I can think of after checking out those pics. I hope to get nice kush like that someday. I do pretty good with bagseed but looking at that kush makes me want to use up one of my genie wishes...:D:stoned:

THanks for the kind words, frostedwonder. I got the seeds from Dutch Passion for like $120 for 10 and I have to say it was very worth it. I've been growing some Purple Kush bagseed and while it was very nice smoke, the yield compared to the size of the plant was pretty disappointing, but the Master always gets nice and fat.

7 full weeks today. In the past she's finished between 51-54 days, and the trichs are nearly all cloudy and a lot are amber so she is right on time. I decided I'm gonna cut her down on Friday; give her one more day tomorrow and then 24 hours of darkness before harvest. Plus its forecasted to be in the mid 90's and higher after Friday and I am tired of battling this heat. Enjoy the pics!:jointsmile::hippy:
Oh, also, if you notice in the pics, the tips of some of the calyxes have a purple hue. I think its because I left the AC on in the dark for a few days, and it lowered the temps to like 61 which Jorge says will turn them purple. Kinda cool!

Wow! That shit does look goooood. Definitely see some purple hues in there. Hell of a job!! I'm not doing hydro, but my temps definitely gets up to around 88-90. I've been iffy about starting flower as the temps may be to high for it......How bad was it with yours? Think you could have pulled more if you could have kept the temps right? Shit even with your high temps them things look marvelous!:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

Thanks Italiiano. The temps are usually around 84-86 in my room because I've been running AC, but without they are around 95 or so. Keeping the res temps down has been a struggle also. I have been cycling two 2 liters of frozen water to keep the res chilled. Two of them keeps the water right for 12 hours, then I refreeze them during the dark period. It works pretty well but its a pain. I'd say if you are in the 90's you'd be better off just waiting till the fall. The high heat will stifle the growth a bit and will make the calyxes grow out away from the compact bud as you can sort of see in my pics.

Hell yeah, I'm trying to stay AWAY from that. Not sure how dense these blueberry is posed to be, so I want to flower when the temps are right, ya know? I may just have to go out and purchase a portable AC for my room. That will probably help significantly.

is any of the color change in the trichs or is it the green part of the bud itself?
dejayou30

The trichs are all cloudy or amber at this point. I have never seen purple or pink trichs as you mentioned before and I really don't think its possible for trichs to be pink or purple, as they are just resin glands rather than something that would have some kind of pigment in it to make it turn colors.

Just finished my harvest. Took me and a partner about 4 hours to complete and she is looking bountiful! I have a ton of trimmings I am going to make into tincture for when we can't smoke. I am keeping my fingers crossed that I will end up with over 4 oz to last through the summer. These are easily twice as fat as the fattest buds I've grown yet and there are dozens of them!
I am also drying on the flowering side of my room instead of in a closet like I usually do since I am done flowering for a while. I think the conditions in the room are more ideal; 76° and 55% RH in the growroom vs. 71° and 41% RH in my closet. Hopefully that will improve the smell and the taste of the finished product as well. I can't wait till they are dry so I can test them out, the scissor hash tells me it will be pretty good!:jointsmile:

I germed 5 Dutch Passion MK fem'd seeds, flowered four of them and kept the nicest one that I haven't flowered yet as possible mother. (Don't ask, I was in a hurry). The four that I worked with seemed pretty homogeneous -- some a little bit more viney and stretchy, but all had what I perceived to be a grapefruit/pineapple smell as they grew. That smell stays after curing and comes through in the smoke for me. I love the taste and smoothness of MK. As I said, its my favorite plant to grow so far and a great tasting smoke -- but not necessarily the best high for me. Its very sedating. However, it could be that I let it go a bit long at harvest.
You know, everyone smells things differently, even if the plants were exactly alike, which we all know, they are not. For example, the White Widow that I have smells like rotting meat to me when its growing AND curing. Until about 45 days into the cure, the rotting smell starts to dissapate somewhat and it smells more like beef jerky or smoked beef. That's the only time I can tolerate the smell of that plant without gagging. If I didn't like the high so much, I believe I'd give it the old "heave ho" to the compost pile, just for that reason. No one else I've mentioned it to can detect what I smell. Makes me crazy.:tin foil hat:

MK always seems to put out a nice yield, even in adversity.
Have you given thought to or tried the canna caps recipes (kudos to Flameon and Weedhound) here on cancom? I was searching for something wonderful to do with my trim -- I'm way too lazy for hash-making. I tried Weedhound's recipe variation after reading all the threads and I have been THRILLED with the results. I could get by on trim alone now .... if I had to ....
Your plant and harvest are a nice accomplishment, especially while battling the heat issues. Give yourself lots of pats on the back there friend.

Thanks crabbyback. It was definitely a struggle, and I will have to make sure not to start so late next year. But with the shitty runs I had my first two flowers I had to do another one before it was too brutally hot.
I have looked at the capsule method but it looks like too much work and mess for me. I think the tincture will be a little easier to work with, and I've done it before and had moderate success and will be able to refine my methods this time. I have always made gumby hash in the past, but I really don't want to make it any more without bubble bags because its a pain in the ass to have to strain it all through coffee filters, and its not really as pure as I would like it to be using that method either.
I just ordered a new scale (made of hemp!) that should be here tomorrow, and I think I've got well over an oz of trim since I just shredded the piddly nothing buds, so I might use like 1/4 oz to make a couple oz of tincture and then use the rest to make hash. I don't really know yet, gotta wait to see what the final weight is. I do love me some hash though, even if its not perfectly pure.
The buds are getting dry to the touch but the stems are still bendy, so hopefully in the next couple days I will get to enjoy the fruits of my labor!

Well I weighed it all out and ended up with around 7 3/8 oz which is damn near double my previous best of 4.25 oz. Although still not even close to the .5g/W Jorge Cervantes claims I should be getting. I'm not sure what else I could possibly do to get 500g...
I separared it out by the half oz in quart Mason jars and my herb dedicated minifridge is overflowing. The buds were dry to the touch but were still a little spongy when squeezed so they are sitting in my closet in jars with no lids so they can dry out a bit more without the stems on them, and I plan on rotating them or shaking them up every couple hours to even out the rest of the drying. I also overshot each jar by about 1g to account for the lost moisture weight. I am going to make some Green Dragon tonight while I wait for them to dry up a bit more before I start curing them. Will have pics soon.
