Hi guys

I just want to say what a resource you have all been. I've been absorbing information from this site and others for over a month and after a few different setbacks my grow box is finally, tentatively, complete.

100 watt hps
made my own cool tube out of a bake-a-round I got off ebay
made my own carbon filter out of chicken wire, pantyhose, and carbon

I'm still trying to keep temps down. It will stay around 80 when I have the carbon filter off but when I put it on it really slows down air flow and the temp starts to rise a little bit, but I'm still tweaking.

Any thoughts? Questions? This is my first attempt doing anything weed related at all, so be kind!

Just wondering, is 90 degrees TOO hot for weed? Seems like if it was a 90 degree day out that weed would be doing just fine but I really don't want to kill my future plant. It will be more like 80 degrees during seedling veg stage but for flowing I'll have to put on the carbon filter and things tend to heat up a little bit then :(

I believe I answered you pretty extensively in another thread where you asked the same question?

Ideal temp is 76 - 78 degrees F. Ninety degrees is too hot for your plant to grow any decent weed.

Also, as a side note, I don't think I'd go to sleep anywhere that there is a 90+ degree homemade grow box/HID stuffed in a clothes closet. But that's just me...

Lose that damn foil. It's electrically conductive, crinkled spots cause 'hot' spots on plants, and it conducts HEAT. Lose it. Paint the inside white or get some mylar or panda film. Temps will drop a degree or two.

Wouldn't mess with aluminum foil like that.

It's space blanket. I thought lots of people here had recommended it. I can paint the inside white though I guess.

Haha, space blanket works fine if you have to pulled tight.

You may not cool off a degree or two if you remove it, but it will definitely kill the chance of any 'hot spots' on the leaves.

Sorry to jump your case, bud.
