I recently bought this pH meter and have some questions. Its the one thats electronic by Rapitest.

1. Does it need to be calibrated? I feel like that's a stupid question but I wanna makes sure I'm doing things properly.

2. If it does, I only have the ph 7.0 calibration fluid, is this sufficient?

3. How do I do this exactly? (I've researched a little bit but I'm still confused)

4. ANOTHER really dumb question I have is does it have an on off button/function?

5. When it is on (given its possible to be) how long do you have to leave it in the soil and how deep into it?

lol sorry for my nooby questions I just really don't wanna mess this plant up that I have goin (I've heard its very sensitive to soil ph: DP blueberry)

probably - should say in the directions it came with

might be, some meters use single, double, or triple calibration fluids - in general, the more you use the more accurate it will be. again, it should of come with instructions that tell you how to calibrate it if needed.

3. How do I do this exactly? (I've researched a little bit but I'm still confused)

RTFM basically - some have automatic calibrations, some have manual calibration dials... not sure about yours.

4. ANOTHER really dumb question I have is does it have an on off button/function?

probably... but having never used the one you are using... couldn't say

5. When it is on (given its possible to be) how long do you have to leave it in the soil and how deep into it?

did you buy a PH pen/meter or a soil test kit? you can;t put ph pens into the soil to get a ph reading... certainly not an accurate one... all your really going to do by doing this is getting dirt all over the electrode. if its a soil test kit, thats a different story, but since you mentioned its electronic, i;m thinking its not a soil ph meter.. as digital soil meters are pretty expensive.

if its a ph meter... this is how you test soil ph: http://boards.cannabis.com/plant-problems/153522-soil-runoff-ph-flushing-correct-lockouts-why-how-do.html

I provided a link that showed the one that I own. It says too make sure the soil is very wet with nuetral water to get a good reading or something?

If you are talking about the Rapidtest soil testing pH probe (generally under $8 US), it does not work for this application.

You need a proper pH tester for testing water and solutions (digitals start approx $35). I'm told that an inexpensive aquarium test kit will work also.

I got one of those. I don't know how accurate it is?...but, it is consistant. There's nothing electronic about it.

Mine ALWAYS read 7.0 everytime I put it into the soil? I suspected it wasn't working right?....so I ran a little test. I mixing some sweet pickle juice in with my regular 7.3 well water and then tested the soil. It read 6.5 to 6.7 ph!....perfect for soil!....and the plants turned out well, too.

I test 12 hours after watering.
