hey guys im going to be growing barneys blue cheese outdoors in buckets..they've been growing for about a month and half inside..while growing in buckets what can i add to the soil to help retain moisture.and what do i use to help drainage...im using old mulch years of dumping leaves and wood chips and other materials in the bucket..i used this stuff for my other plants works good grows big...now i have never grown in buckets before so any info would be good..and i will be using these on the side of a swamp...water may elevate but not much...any tips thanks guys.


and also is it me or does barneys blue cheese grow slow....

drill some 1" holes in the bottom and a couple of inches of gravel. that should help with the drainage.

I agree. I am currently growing in 5 gallon buckets outdoors. I drilled about 8 holes in the bottom evenly spaced (the holes were about 1/2" each in diameter), put about 1 1/2" of gravel in the bottom.

I would also recommend mixing some Perlite in with your soil. This will also help drainage. Good luck!
