Many of you are prepared to do some activism but are disappointed with the inaction of others. This post is for you:
If anyone would like to draw attention locally to get people thinking and isn't on the brink of poverty(Many of you fall into this category), invest one hundred or more dollars into a few hours of your own activism. Pick a busy day, get 100 1$ bills to hand out while walking down a busy street with a special greeting that will surprise a significant portion of people. This gift choice takes more effort to attack than others such as food or drink and is less likely to be uninteresting to the people whose awareness you want to raise. It is objectively valuable to everyone.
Your greeting is important. I think this greeting would be effective:
"Hello, I'm a good person and I deserve the right to use Marijuana."
You should be quick in reading people who you give your gift to, many people won't have time to speak to you, but some will. Some will agree, some will disagree. If they agree you can make your case stronger by saying:
"I hope you will accept this gift and hopefully pay it forward by fighting for civil rights."
You should be ready to produce all the strong arguments for the decriminalization of Cannabis. Jails. Budget. Victimless crime. Medical application. Economy. Possibly most importantly, Law enforcement/Investigaton officials not focusing on truly wicked crimes.
You may meet someone who will criticize you. You should expect something like "So you're just trying to buy people?"
Explain of an appropriate rebuttal: "It's just a dollar, and people can't really be swayed by such a small sum. If they disagree with me they will take the money and continue to disagree. The intention of my activism is to raise awareness by performing symbolic, random act of kindness for a cause. The arguments for Marijuana decriminalization are strong and this is an effective way to raise awareness."
I want this thread to be representative of how reasonable the Cannabis.com Activism forum considers this proposal to be so I included a poll, it may not work. Anyway, I ask two things from readers: To try this method once, and to criticize it harshly and improve it. Edit: The poll has two Yes options because I wanted to see if this would get any support, which I think is a bad idea in hindsight. If you want to express your lack of commitment for this please reply with your reason. I did not in any way want to appear like I was silencing criticism, my apologies.
